This is a very very very goood video extremly helpful wish he was my drivin instructor hahaa, just had yet another lesson but clutch control is somthing i really need 2 get into the rhythm of goood stufff!!!
i just had my first test today i was learning the biteing point i got controle of it but you explain it in great detail wish u was learning me thanks for the video
I am glad you mentioned that it's good not to use the clutch too much as it will burn it out; a lot of people don't seem to realise this and think they can sit riding the clutch on a hill at traffic lights for as long as they want...
shame my driving or neglected to mention that. got a right bollocking for storming over a mini roundabout when i thought i was coasting, always thought there was something wrong with the car until now!
good vid. but this described on how to control the car using clutch and backward gravity. what about on a flat road and forward gravity. would you then use the brake/handbrake method, even if you were only at a junction for a few seconds.
im currently taking lessons. but when at a junction my instructor always tells me to apply hand brake and make sure im in first gear. Is he wrong and can this kind of control be used. thanks
i'm taking lessons at the moment and am struggling with stopping normally. i'm confused to whether you put the clutch down first then break to stop or do i use them both together or brake first then dip the clutch.
You should put the clutch down just before you stop when you get to a walking speed. So if your going faster than walking speed then you would use the brake first and if your going very slow you would use the clutch first for example when doing a turn in the road.
As clong as you dont hold it too long say 30 sec or more your going to wear the clutch more if you put the hand brake on and have the clutch fighting the handbrake. I keep my cars for 150,000 mile and have never replaced a clutch before the car.
Stopping in an uphill junction using another technique like using the handbrake is a bad habit too, probably will fail your test for time wasting in traffic.
Much better than my mums lessons.
Cheers mate!!

I think you mean all automatics will roll forward when in gear. Fuel type doesn't fundamentally affect how the transmission works.
SPTSuperSprinter156 2 years ago
@megan1r so will some petrol cars, bigger than engine the capable the car can slowly move.

holding the clutch that long is a bad habit. 10 seconds is too long. burning the clutch out.
