The Hillary Clinton video is up. As you can see the video deals with the same questions as in this Ron Paul video. Next up is John McCain, with the same questions. Ohh and dont think too much about the last sound in the videos. If you haven't already noticed they are from Half-Life 2 and are meant to be there for fun (watch my other videos on similar topics and you will understand). :)
Paul's environmental position hinges on the issue of property rights. If an entity consistently pollutes your land or the air you breath on that land you have the right to sue the source. Its essentially the same way the issue of 2nd hand smoke was dealt with. Simple but effective. I don't agree with all aspects of his environmental plan, but litigation or simply its threat could deter or bankrupt big polluters. And how much pollution does the detonation of depleted urananium bombs create?
Yeah, I think making promises to get elected, then doing absolutely NOTHING is a lot worse... But I guess that is just an opinion.
BTW. It has been determined that because of the use of 340 tons of Depleted Uraninum munitions in the 1st gulf war, people are suffering SEVERE consequences. 600 X's cancer rates, Birth defects, and other diseases. Not to mention over 500,000 of our own troops now disabled from a 100 hour war. So far in the current war 2,400 additional tons have been used. hmm???
Thanks for the info. These more GREAT reasons to support Dr. Paul. He's not a dictator. He believes in the Constitution. The Feds have no business interfering in our lives on these issues. You assuming that the Federal gov. cares more about the environment than the citizens do. Think about it. Just because Dr. Paul doesn't vote for these things, doesn't mean he supports pollution, etc.
So when he voted no to raise fuel-economy standards for automobiles he cared about the environment? I believe the government is the citizens. The government is the people. It is runned and managed by the poeple. The people are in control. Maybe you, the poeple have lost the control of your own country and thats why you are so afraid of governments?
Subsidies don't allow fair competition, which means the best and most efficient methods of energy production will not rise to the top. This isn't that complicated.
If we wouldn't have subsidises not a single company would invest in nuclear energy. Because then it would be too expensive and risky. And when the market have absolut control things normally dont change fast, or at all. And that is why USA still generates about 50% of their energy from coal.
Actually, John McCain is more green than Ron Paul. He will be featured after Hillary Clinton. "Free market" you say? We have a free market and see how good that have turned out to be. Nuclear fusion is EXTREMELY expensive and not an option at this moment.
zk0,in no way can you call the current system we have today a Free Market. The "Free Market" of today as you would call it is filled with a vast amount of regulations and bureaucracies that prohibit real solutions to be brought forth.
Ron Paul would lower my cost of living so i could afford solar power cells..He would actually inforce laws that prohibit damaging of other peoples property.you cant make water unsafe to drink you cant make land unlivable.under Ron Paul thier wouldn't be million dollar lawsuits and business goes on ...heads would roll ...but your free to your opinion.lets get walmart or goldmansaks in the whitehouse!
How would a "free" market lower your cost of living? I mean come on. And also, local environment problems are completely different to global environment problems like climate change. PS, I thought walmart or goldmansaks already was in the Whitehouse.. Hmm I was wrong, I guess it's Mc Donalds who is in charge?
PS if you don't understand the Property rights issue I ask you to research this. This would be our best hope to stop pollution in our neighborhoods. The fact this right is ignored is WHY big companies destroy our local environments. GLOBAL TAX is a huge wrong way to do this. More big world gov is not the way to protect your Country.
Do you have a link to more about this? I have never heard about it. You are right, education is a key to fight climate change and other problems. And yes, it's a shame that climate criminal USA haven't signed the Kyoto.
I love all of those positions. BTW Nuclear and solar are the future. If we would open up the market to competition by deregulation we would move out of the oil energy era so fast.
Nuclear will switch to fusion by then. They are building one in France now. Hopefully it works. Trying to figure out energy 80 years out is asking alot though. I am glad that energy and the environment are a top issue now, I hope that we move in an efficient and sensical way, and government subsidies and cap and trade policies I fear will stunt the delevopment of the energy market. As for emissions and pollution, we should have very strict laws that are enforced to protect property rights.
I know Ron Paul supporters are brainwashed, but come on. How stupid are you if you think for one second that global warming/climate change is a "hoax" made up of "communists"? Really?
Ohh I do live in a free country. I actually live in the most democratic country in the world. I have "comment pending approval" due to the fact that I want to keep the comments on-topic and free from "stupid" comments.
You call a country democratic where presidential elections are rigged ?
Where candidates have not the same amount of speech time ?
Where some are completely ignored by the medias or are not on the ballot ?
Not to mention presidents being assassinated, or invasions planned without the agreement of the congress, therefore the people..
The people of america do not have any power anymore.. Listen to the medias.. They are the one telling you what the corrupted ones have decided for the people...
"Most europeans who've heard him online agrees with him." Yeaaaaaaaaaa right. Didn't you know? If europeans have to vote for someone of the candidates it will be Obama or Hillary. Also, I dont like any of your candidates. :D
Most europeans would vote for either Obama or Hillary, because europeans media only talk about those who are high on those faked polls. You don't see any Ron Paul on european medias.
But if you know a bit of history of america since the end of World War 2.. Only Ron Paul makes sense.
And also, it does concerns us european. You saw all that mess the Bush administration has made ? USA is far away from conflict zones, but european countries are not !
Biofuels is hard to judge. There are a lot of different biofuels with different downsides and upsides. My personal opinion is that biofuels are worthless and just a shown of capitalistic imperialism.
and you don't need to use pesticides, you can make paper, rope, health food, medicine, and oil that can be used as a fuel. If only our market was free to produce this amazing plant...
That just made me want to vote for him. The only sane politician left.

Decent vid. Though I already knew he had some downsides but, still better then warmongers.
And the question at the end. It Can get worse than that a lot worse.
Free market would encourage more interest in hydrogen fuel.
With the money made from nuclear fission power more money is spent on nuclear fusion power (cleaner, power).
I also appose subsidies for that. Free Market should determine it.

A global CO2 trading system/tax is a great way to encourage companies to move from dirty energy to cleaner energy much faster than today.
zk0 4 years ago
That's why, the thing that every candidate should do, is encourage research. European are working on a project called 'Iter'
that will allow the use of nuclear fusion (only water is produced !! no radioactivity !).
But so far, no american candidates seems to care about environment and research !
No american president wants to sign the Kyoto agreements. This is a shame !

"I know Ron Paul supporters are brainwashed"
lol, that is funny.
Ron Paul supporters are well awake.. If you still think we live in a free country you should think of waking up also..
And I know, not a signel candidate talks about environement.. who does anyway in america ?
Only Al Gore, but when he is not running for presidency anymore... real shame those leaders.
+ why do you have this "comment pending approval".. Can't we all debate freely here ?

On bio fuels. Our government is causing a lot of the problems going on right now by requiring Ethanol being added to our gas.
Sure it puts out less emissions per gallon, but you loose a lot of mileage per gallon using it negating the effect and only costing us more in taxes.
It might be the stupidest thing government has ever done.
we at least in recent history.

Ethanol from corn costs more then it saves. It would be far more efficient to make ethanol from HEMP. Ron would make that possible.
