Read 'The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night Time'. It's from the first-person perspecive of a kid with severe autism but is really smart in his own way and it's super addictive, easy to read. Or read 'Flowers for Algernon'. It's not about a kid, but it's about a mentally handicapped adult who receives new medical treatment to become smart, and he gets a new perspective of himself. It's crazy good it's one of my favourites. And short!
"we have always lived in the castle" Shirley Jackson. it's about two sisters who live closed up in their house after the rest of their family is poisoned. one of the sisters is a psychopath. if this doesn't fit the bill for your assignment, you should read it anyway. ^_^
btw, you're the only person i've seen with nails like that and it doesn't look tacky.
Of human bondage is my favorite book... Its about a kid with a club foot... and his life growing up and what not.... its a bit long but its really good...
a child called "it" is a great book. u MUST read that. and the sequels also is really good. if i were u i wud read it. its a sad story but theyre good
uhhh "a child called it" is a great book but i think she is in college & that book is not college level....she shouldnt do that book but read it anyways

Book Suggestion: "One Child" by Torey Hayden. It's been years since I read it, but once you read it, you won't forget it. It almost made me want to be a teacher...ALMOST.
There are good reviews on Amazon that can help you decide if you want to read it or not.
There's a book by the guy from the news (can't remember which station)...it's called "Step Out on Nothing" he didn't learn to read til he was 12 and stuttered until he was 20...but is now on national news. I haven't read it yet, but I think it will be good.
The curious incident of the dog in the night-time' By Mark Haddon. Great book being told BY an autistic boy and is all in the perspective of how someone with autism would be viewing the world and telling you the story. It's a great book and not too long so it wouldnt take you long to read lol!
My Sisters Keeper? I don't know if it's something you need? But it's a really good book.
My Sister's Keeper is a novel written by Jodi Picoult in 2004 that tells the story of a young girl Anna who sues her parents for medical emancipation when she is expected to donate a kidney to her sister Kate who is dying from leukemia.
I Never Promised You A Rosegarden - Joanne Greenburg
It's about a young woman with mental disabilities...don't know if that is something that can work for your assignment...but it was a quick and interesting read!
Dari, have you thought to consider reading books about children who are ESL learners. (English Second Language) These children are often mis diagnosed and misplaced in public schools because of their language barrier. *q*
The first book I thought of was "Are you there God it's me Margaret" I believe by Judy blume. a very ease read. You didn't say what level of reading you needed. And is that a real earring in your ear or a tongue ring that you liked? just asking. you are fun to watch and I love your videos!!!!

He lives life to a different extreme...Not really handicapped, but different. Maybe...sorry.
My sister's keeper by Jodi Pecult..its so interesting! It was recently made into a movie so you can get a visual AFTER you read the book. What's the name of the class? A Child Called It? Why would she recommend that one? Anyway, here are some good ones dealing with diff. forms of autism:
1. The Same Difference by Deborah Jacons (about twin sister's; one has aspergers while the other one has severe autism.
A BOY Called It is a good book, but I thought that you had to read about a child with a disability...his mom was mentally ill which caused him to be a victim of child abuse. That might work...
I work in a bookstore. if you want something deep, I suggest "look me in the eye" by john elder robison. its about a man growing up with aspergers. but my personal pick if you want to laugh out loud hardcore is "I'm down" by Mishna Wolff. thats about a white girl that lives with her white family in a black neighborhood in the 70's and her dad thinks he is black. he has no respect for his daughter because she acts too "white" in his eyes. its hillarious and I think you would like that one.
um welll this is a good book where reading in my english class for college its real funny and ineresting.....its called " Me Talk Pretty One Day" by david sedaris ...it about him and like his life kinda and lol its a good book i cant explain it lol
Read a "child called it" and "the lost boy". Theyre sad but really good and a fast read. They're the same story but it's like part 1 and part 2 in two books. So idk if the books u have to read have to be completely different but……oh or read a catcher in the rye. Amazing book. Also a fast read

Book 1: Book Name: Ghost Girl: The True Story of a Child in Peril and the Teacher Who Saved Her Author: Torey Hayden Book 2: Book Name: Sickle Cell Anemia (Disease & People) Author: Alvin Silverstein Book 3: Book Name: One Child Author: Torey L. Hayden Book 4: Name of Book: Inside a Cutters Mind: Understand and Helping Those Who Self- Injure Author: Jerusha Clark
my brother read a book called "the bluest eye" i THINK its about an african american girl who lives in a rly poor neighboorhood and she envyy's this girl for blue eyes and ya.
and its by tony morrison
its a bit disturbing tho, but it seems to fit
(plus its probably easy cuz its a like 9th grader book)
Read Chinese Cinderella by adeline yen mah . It's about a girl treated unfairly by her family it's not as harsh as a child called it cuz that book made me cry , but this book is really good so u will read it fast i've read it like 8 times its that good
I read a Child called it a long time ago, but I think it was good? i emember wanting to read the sequels... although i never did.
Ooh, i just read "An Abundance of Katherines" by John Green. it's about a boy who is a child prodigy (and has a thing for girls named Katherine) but it's fiction... idk if that makes a difference. Although it's mostly about him and his friend in a new town, it discusses how he feels he needs to be remembered, and go from a prodigy to a genius.
well theres this one its about this kid named braily or sumthin and hes blind and he invents thoes bumps that blind ppl use to read i forg et the name of the book
Pecola suffers abuse from parents and school mates and believe if she looked differently her life would be different. Of course there is much more to it and that is a severe oversimplification!
It is about a kid who was made fun and bullied, he builds up so much anger, that he brings a gun to school and opens fire... he lives, but what happens next? ... :D
Well there's this book by Torey Hayden called One Child, there is also this book called PUSH by Sapphire...If I think of some others I'll post them but those to are really good!!!!
One Child by Torey L. Hayden is good. Partially read it for a psychology class. The book is about a teacher of a special needs class. She talks about the kids she encounters and how she tries to help them. She takes special interest in one certain child though.
Its a reay story about a young black boy that was discriminated against in school when he was little and makes his way to one of the best doctors in America that was Able to seperate siamese twins.
you stole that rainbow earring from me, i have that exact pair... mmmmmmmm "A boy called it" is a very good book and you should read it. me and sam have and we love it
I read that book in the Fifth grade, it was very sad and graphic. Sorry I have no suggestions but maybe you should just read a couple pages of that book and then if you don't like it then just pick another book out randomly.

Pecola suffers abuse from parents and school mates and believe if she looked differently her life would be different. Of course there is much more to it and that is a severe oversimplification!

One Child by Torey L. Hayden is good. Partially read it for a psychology class. The book is about a teacher of a special needs class. She talks about the kids she encounters and how she tries to help them. She takes special interest in one certain child though.

I read that book in the Fifth grade, it was very sad and graphic. Sorry I have no suggestions but maybe you should just read a couple pages of that book and then if you don't like it then just pick another book out randomly.
