  • Its a great song,I wish the song from this album (gathering flowers from the masters bouquet) was on here. thanks

  • This is a nice version of Gord'e great song. Connie was such a talent! Good Post!

  • @indyvic not was,but still is great talent....just ask marty stuart her husband

  • @indyvic not "was"till is.just ask her husband Marty Stuart

  • That's Jerry Reed pickin' his heart out in the background.

  • And I thought The late Marty Robbins had the sole rights on this one..........

  • A great Gordon Lightfoot song done up very good. Thanks for the Post!

  • Best rendition of this song EVER! And the guitar playing is AWESOME!

  • Amour... Merci for this Song.

  • I love her voice. and she's damn cute.

  • wow - i remember her but didn't appreciate enough, she ... there are no words that describe the perfection of so much expression (i'll stop trying to describe!)

  • Reminds me of driving through Kentucky on my way home to Ohio from school in Florida. Funny how a song reminds you of things. Driving along Lake Cumberland near Somerset. I must have heard it on the radio. Sweet gal; great song.

  • Absolutely heavenly! I love her version oh so very much. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Oh boy, what a reading. In my book this is even better than Gordon Lightfoot's original and Marty Robbin's cover which I thought could not be topped. What a singer Connie Smith. Then couple her beautiful voice with cascading orchestration and freewheeling guitar-playing and what have we got? a smorgasbord of heavenly sounds. Such perfection. Thank you for posting this thing of beauty.

  • every song is perfect ,love her voice and she is no 1 in my books love her all my life

    cheers

    thank you for sharing

  • thanks for posting

  • oh my god, finally i found this video connie smith,,i still remember i grw up with her songs, thanks for posting this video,,awesome,i really like her song SURELY but i cant find it..

  • Lovely cover, but it was written by Gordon Lightfoot.

  • What a lovely rendition of this marty robbins song. Truly heavenly! Thanks for posting this video.

  • the greatest female singer ever....GO CONNIE

  • awesome lady! what a name too! Long live all connies!

  • Thanks for posting! Drop by my page and see my home cut version of a song off this album.

    Thanks again!

  • awesome! my older sister has all her Lp records and now all that is on Cd. She still sings awesome today and even seems happy with marty!

  • I turned every record store in Nashville up side down looking for that first album! My mom had it when I was a child, I grew up listening to her. I finally found it, and it was worth the search! I had the pleasure of meeting her by chance one day, and she even gave me a hug. It was just a casual day at work, and I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. She sings alot of gospel with the Whites now, she says. She is a real doll! Shes the real deal ppl!

  • She does a wonderful version with "goodbye my love" love her singing style

  • I used to have a crush on her. Beautiful woman.

  • this is so pretty a song, i never heard it before,,and didnt know Gordon Lighfoot wrote it....great!!!! 5 stars!

  • Whatever happened to Connie? Is she still in the music business? Retired? Does anyone know? Please respond.

  • I saw Connie not to long ago. She makes an appearance every now and then. She is married to Marty Stuart now. He has a weekly show on RFD TV now. Maybe she will make some appearances!

  • The more I hear this, the more I love it. Gordon is the best songwriter ever-period. He has no peers. Although I enjoy Gordon's rendition, it's really cool to hear the various covers of his songs - each with its own unique sound. Connie does a great job on this one, as does Marty Robbins in his version..

    Bob

  • Connie Smith was the greatest woman of Country music. Nobody could top her. She was just too good for NAshville.

  • Kudos to Lightfoot for writing it. Applause to Connie Smith for making it sound even better

  • This is just one of many songs sang beautifully by Connie. Thanks.

  • How about a round of applause for the gentleman who wrote this terrific song - Orillia's own Gordon Lightfoot?

  • @MerrittStDiner hey good job knowing a thing

  • We could still have a live duet between Connie Smith and Gordon Lightfoot. That might be even better than Connie and Marty Robbins relying on tracks that were not originally recorded with a duet in mind.

  • Awesome. She is one of my favorites. I have to many to mention. I was raised on old school country and I love it. I sing all the old greats in karaoke but of course I try to sing I should say. There will never be music like this again. These folks made country music in my opinion.

  • beautiful nice version

  • Maybe Marty Robbins can duet with Connie Smith with some great mixing and engineering work, like they did with the duet by Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole. It would seem to be a daunting task. This is one of my favorite Marty Robbins songs, and I like Connie Smith's version.

  • You know Alan, I would sure have liked to hear Connie duet with Marty Robbins on this great song.

  • I love Connie's version to this song...great post...thank you Alan*****

  • Absolutely beautiful song, Alan.

  • thanks for yuor 1950,s and 1960,s country and western and pop from the same era anything after that, dont care about..to me its crap

  • I agree 95%

  • Connie deos a great job on this song.
