  • When The Edge had hair and resembled Frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror

  • slash! the best

  • How about the Edge on keyboards as well as guitar...? Utterly fantastic is all i can say...U2 is the world;s greatest rock band!

  • oopssy meant 25! years later e that last post.....

  • 5 years later and still sexy as hell and sound just as good

  • We should be grateful that video exists of these early days..I remember with fondness my early U2 gigs (1987) Wembley,Murrayfield and Glasgow..just spent the 360 tour in Glasgow,Chicago and Sevilla - one thing is constant - the spiritual beauty of a u2 show! the people, the music..better than the Stones - by a mile..i love U2 xx

  • I was born Jan 5. 1987 and I'm in love with U2

  • 'love the piano

  • good month :]

  • Assieme a Pride sono secondo me i loro più bei brani in assoluto.

  • bien perron

yes tijuana loves u2 for peace we neded

  • to all fans u2 its the best band all world...we respect all bands ex..beatles,queen rooling stones pink floyd but u2 its the best band all time we see you in coimbra portugal 2 and 3 october 2010 paul portugal

  • It's still amazing :)

  • nice version ...

  • God, having this long hair... Bono is looking like Connor MacLeod from Highlander

Higher than so many huge vocals!

  • Beautiful and powerful.

  • ADAM CLAYTON!! 5:00

  • I was born in October 1987, and the Joshua Tree was my very first record :D

  • Good for you! Congratulations on your great taste of music.

  • @rgtl2093 i was born in october 1987 too, but never had joshua tree...but I like U2! Its impressive to think about it...they were on stage when we were just learning how to breathe...

  • trop de folie ,la plus belle chanson de U2 october

  • Con todos ustedes..........los autenticos U2 !!!!

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Larry Mullen Jr. on the COWBELL!!! lol

  • he's still hot :)

  • Glory Days

  • my 2 fav u2 songs!! brilliant!!

  • i wonder why they would do october on this tour the edge is mystical

  • asombroso u2

  • The Edge freakin ROCKS!!!!!

  • The transition from October to New Years day is magical. Simply the greats band in history. Just like classical music in rock form.

  • u r right! it's awesome!!!

the only one band to compare with my love maidens!!!

  • I never paid attention to the Irons when I was younger. Now that im older and im more open minded..I have to admit that iron maiden is my favorite hard rock band. Or are they Metal? whatever... there music is amazing. When Im in the mood for something heavy...the Irons are the best band in the world. But U2 is my favorite band in general.

  • All is quiet on New Year's day A world in white gets underway And I want to be with you Be with you night and day Nothing changes on New Year's day On New Year's day I will be with you again I will be with you again Under a blood red sky A crowd has gathered (in) black and white Arms entwined the chosen few The newspapers say it says Say it's true say it's true And we can break through Torn in two we can be one I, I will begin again
  • october and the trees are stripped bare

    Of all they wear.

    What do I care?

    October and kingdoms rise

    And kingdoms fall

    But you go on

    And on.

  • Awesome, going back to the 1980-ties...

  • These viddys make me feel like a young lass Arrogantu2fan

  • The best version of this two songs in my opinion

is the one at the Red rocks. back in the early 80's.

But I don't know where U2 went wrong.'

I wouldn't listen to them now a days even if it was free. All Bono does is talk a lot of bullshit instead of singing more.

  • 80s u2 was (is) supreme i lost interest myself after rattle and hum.

allways playing my bootlegs never get bored of them

  • I have to admit that zooropa was a very good album.

  • i agree to you

i think war, the unforgetable fire, the joshua tree, rattle and hum , achtung baby are brilliant, but the music of u2 after achtung baby dont like me

  • Then I guess you never really like their music. When I listen to u2 i don't care about what Bono does in his personal life. I just hear the music...and to me..hands down they are the greatest band in musical history.

  • Incorrect. I thought the same thing, until I went to two of their recent gigs in Dublin. Little to none of the shite he usually spouts.

  • Your not well.

  • yes, appledot121 - i agree! awesome version edge playing this song...

  • Actually if u read Bono on Bono he says that even they have had their fights, Bono and Larry are the closest to each other as they come from similar bckgrounds. Same for the Edge and Adam. Also it can be argued that the latter are the stabling influence of the band

  • quante emozioni mi date grandi anche se nn mi conoscete per me siete grandi amici grazie di tutto

  • This is the best live version of Edge playing this song. GO U2

  • actually, I think the one at red rocks was better.

  • IMO, i thought bono sang will at red rocks, but edge played better at paris

  • after listening to both versions again, i have to agree you are probably right. edge did play a little bit better on this version than at red rocks. bono's vocals were better at red rocks, but i think that is a function of more years of wear on bono's vocal chords. edge can always buy new instruments, but bono only has one set of vocal chords. u2 doesn't get enough credit for how much they tour and i am amazed bono can still talk after so many years, let alone sing! he's a friggin machine.

  • awesome - 5 stars

hey check out our melodica cover of this song (its all very serious) just click my username

    peace

  • wow fuck!! ... this song is amazing awesome!!! love this song

  • new years day is one of my fovorite U2 song !!

the bass is kick ass, the piano beautifull and bono has a powerfull and beutifull voice

    kick ass song

  • Mighty! I recall the great Summer of '87 concerts at Dublin's Croke Park where they did the same thing, October leading into New Years Day, great stuff, could revive memories of that concert hearing this today. Where diya get them Axe Black?!

  • This is about the time when fame started to go to Bozo's head.

  • This is more of a joke (Just in case people get mad at me) But when Bono kissed Adam, it would seem that Bono likes Adam alot more than Edge or Larry. Maybe it's just me, but I noticed that Bono hugs Adam in Rattle and Hum, and I've heard that they kiss again during streets (during the vertigo tour, that's what I've heard. The point is, I wonder if Edge and Larry are jealous at all... By the way I love the way they did October, it's one of my favorites.

  • thats because bono and adam r best mates

  • i dno what that guy said about bono and adam being best mates. but adam was always the outsider of the group. so when bono got married he aed him to be his best man.

  • lol ya i thot adam was like the outsider of the group

    why is that?

  • lol ya i dont think that they are jelous that bono is kissing another man instead of him :P

  • they deserve everything that they have ..... this is superb ....

  • Dievai !!!!

  • This version of new years day is amazing

  • they gave it everything they had on this tour. probably took a lot out of them

  • October is an amazing track !! Its a short song, but so damn powerfull !! Those vocals are the best !! Bono Rules This !!

  • Just simply an amazing band!

  • I quit piano lessons in 8th grade (1981). I started back because of this.

  • I think this is not a rare case... Piano producents should be very graceful for U2!:)Guitar producents even more.

  • This is a really fucking brilliant.

  • i saw them in 1987 in rotterdam when i was 12,men this is amazing, those good old times

  • is it a coninsidence that u posted a vid of new years day on the 1st of jan?? lol

  • hahaaha ;-)

  • amazing performance, powerful vocals from Bono, great that they have chosen this concert to make it on DVD on JT anniversary release

  • grandeeeee...continua cosi...anzi me lo dovresti dire tu xke ho 14 anni ahah

  • I never really cared about u2 after rattle and hum hated actung the reason i have so many bootlegs from the 80s

gonna buy this in december cannot wait

  • Don't worry about the look... It's the 80's

  • Bono's hair look so strange but it's a gorgeous performance:)

  • What could possibly be strange in long hair?

  • i wish i could have been there

  • HerrRobot, mamame el huevo please.

  • Herr Robot is a twat. How dare U2 write about real things happening in the world at large! ZZ top rednecks, stranglers fucing idiots. JJ B what a hard nut, cornwell pathetic

  • Rankingjohnmajor >> I think your reply has a lot more depth than most U2-lyrics, at least you have the guts to swear. ;-)

  • Great transition! love both songs, and love this band, all and all great performance

  • Love when Bono kisses Adam!

  • pfff stop drug dear friend

  • Pretencious pr..s. The Emo of that time: "uh-uh we make so important songs, with really important lyrics!", damn, i am glad i was into ZZ-Top and Stranglers in 1987

  • i dont think u2 ever claimed that their music was important, just meaningful and often containg a message. yeah thank god you were into ZZ-Top HerrRobot, one of the most horrendous and overrated bands in music history. if you like the stranglers remember that "gospel" and "la folie", among their middle work, were concept albums written about religion, love, and the environment among other things, similar themes expressed in u2's work. get your shit together out here.

  • Man where have you been the last 15 years, their experimental trilogy: Achtung baby, Zooropa and Pop were exactly that... stop taking themselves as serious, play with their image, actually make fun of themselves and their whole status.

If you don't like the band that's OK but that self righteousness was left behind after Joshua tree/Rattle & hum

  • if you don't like it, don't watch it.

  • If you don't like my comment, don't read it. ;-)

  • I cried when I heard this

  • GOOD FOR YOU BUDDY

  • Bono's voice sounds shot to pieces.

  • Great piano work by Edge...or is that slash?

  • Rock gigs in the 80's were like mini riots!! not like sedated credit card booking only audiences now..wow and Adam actually moves!!! great era as you said:) i was there wembley stadium june 1987 and to a 15 year old that day was one of the best of my life, even now that stands up..

  • WOW Bono's hair.. I had same hair back in the 80's..and I am girl!! HAHAH

  • That was awesome!!!

  • U2 at their best, love this era, Adam Clayton is the un-sung hero of U2, he's a legend!!!

  • Pretty impressive by to play both the guitar and the piano at the same time!

  • the AXEMAN is simply the best!!!love some footage from 1985 concerts, especially summer festivals like croke park milton keynes bowl torhout etc.. or and madison sq. gardens.

  • even MORE awesome stuff! axblack, you rule man!!!
