We should be grateful that video exists of these early days..I remember with fondness my early U2 gigs (1987) Wembley,Murrayfield and Glasgow..just spent the 360 tour in Glasgow,Chicago and Sevilla - one thing is constant - the spiritual beauty of a u2 show! the people, the music..better than the Stones - by a mile..i love U2 xx
to all fans u2 its the best band all world...we respect all bands ex..beatles,queen rooling stones pink floyd but u2 its the best band all time we see you in coimbra portugal 2 and 3 october 2010 paul portugal
@rgtl2093 i was born in october 1987 too, but never had joshua tree...but I like U2! Its impressive to think about it...they were on stage when we were just learning how to breathe...
I never paid attention to the Irons when I was younger. Now that im older and im more open minded..I have to admit that iron maiden is my favorite hard rock band. Or are they Metal? whatever... there music is amazing. When Im in the mood for something heavy...the Irons are the best band in the world. But U2 is my favorite band in general.
All is quiet on New Year's day A world in white gets underway And I want to be with you Be with you night and day Nothing changes on New Year's day On New Year's day I will be with you again I will be with you again Under a blood red sky A crowd has gathered (in) black and white Arms entwined the chosen few The newspapers say it says Say it's true say it's true And we can break through Torn in two we can be one I, I will begin again
Then I guess you never really like their music. When I listen to u2 i don't care about what Bono does in his personal life. I just hear the music...and to me..hands down they are the greatest band in musical history.

Bono with his long flowing hair would make a beautiful women just nick him for a day and bring him into a lab and do experiments on him and take his sperm and clone women versions of Bono and have amazing sex with her starting by licking up her thighs and carresing her beautiful breasts and feeling her beautiful pussy lips around my penis!
Actually if u read Bono on Bono he says that even they have had their fights, Bono and Larry are the closest to each other as they come from similar bckgrounds. Same for the Edge and Adam. Also it can be argued that the latter are the stabling influence of the band
after listening to both versions again, i have to agree you are probably right. edge did play a little bit better on this version than at red rocks. bono's vocals were better at red rocks, but i think that is a function of more years of wear on bono's vocal chords. edge can always buy new instruments, but bono only has one set of vocal chords. u2 doesn't get enough credit for how much they tour and i am amazed bono can still talk after so many years, let alone sing! he's a friggin machine.
Mighty! I recall the great Summer of '87 concerts at Dublin's Croke Park where they did the same thing, October leading into New Years Day, great stuff, could revive memories of that concert hearing this today. Where diya get them Axe Black?!
This is more of a joke (Just in case people get mad at me) But when Bono kissed Adam, it would seem that Bono likes Adam alot more than Edge or Larry. Maybe it's just me, but I noticed that Bono hugs Adam in Rattle and Hum, and I've heard that they kiss again during streets (during the vertigo tour, that's what I've heard. The point is, I wonder if Edge and Larry are jealous at all... By the way I love the way they did October, it's one of my favorites.
i dno what that guy said about bono and adam being best mates. but adam was always the outsider of the group. so when bono got married he aed him to be his best man.
Herr Robot is a twat. How dare U2 write about real things happening in the world at large! ZZ top rednecks, stranglers fucing idiots. JJ B what a hard nut, cornwell pathetic
Pretencious pr..s. The Emo of that time: "uh-uh we make so important songs, with really important lyrics!", damn, i am glad i was into ZZ-Top and Stranglers in 1987
i dont think u2 ever claimed that their music was important, just meaningful and often containg a message. yeah thank god you were into ZZ-Top HerrRobot, one of the most horrendous and overrated bands in music history. if you like the stranglers remember that "gospel" and "la folie", among their middle work, were concept albums written about religion, love, and the environment among other things, similar themes expressed in u2's work. get your shit together out here.

Actually, i think that U2 is one of the most overrated bands in history. Sure, they made a few catchy pop songs, but i just can´t take the thick layer of self important self-rigthousness that is coating every aspect of this band. Nothing wrong with writing lyrics about serious subjects, it depends on how you do it.
Man where have you been the last 15 years, their experimental trilogy: Achtung baby, Zooropa and Pop were exactly that... stop taking themselves as serious, play with their image, actually make fun of themselves and their whole status.
If you don't like the band that's OK but that self righteousness was left behind after Joshua tree/Rattle & hum
Rock gigs in the 80's were like mini riots!! not like sedated credit card booking only audiences now..wow and Adam actually moves!!! great era as you said:) i was there wembley stadium june 1987 and to a 15 year old that day was one of the best of my life, even now that stands up..
the AXEMAN is simply the best!!!love some footage from 1985 concerts, especially summer festivals like croke park milton keynes bowl torhout etc.. or and madison sq. gardens.

The best version of this two songs in my opinion
is the one at the Red rocks. back in the early 80's.
But I don't know where U2 went wrong.'
I wouldn't listen to them now a days even if it was free. All Bono does is talk a lot of bullshit instead of singing more.
