I love the fact you are walking the talk, and you are now sharing it with the next generations. I was shocked to see we're down to 3 pennies. Well, at least there are still the 3 cents to work with!
I've been growing the same yellow tomatoes my GreatGran gave me seeds for 30 years ago. Every year I have at least 50 volunteer plants I give away if I can. This was the first year I had people asking for them before I offered and the first time I ever ran out of plants before I ran out of people, sweet.
Another awesome lecture! I am quite angry about the fact that when I go to my local grocery store, there's only the unmarked GMO fruits and vegetables. They are all relatively the same size (as they were engineered to be ofcourse) and weight. And they are all flavorless and not worth paying money for. Why would I wanna pay money for flavorless produce year after year after year. I have had it with unmarked GMO food. Let's bring back the heirlooms and increase the diversity. It's now or never!!!!
This is a great lecture that more people should watch and think about. Other parts of the world still cherish diversity. In Samarkand, Uzbekistan you can eat hundreds of varieties of melons, pears, apples, figs, grapes, etc. We get 2 or 3 types of pears, we get maybe 5 different apples at the supermarket, 1 (lousy) tomatoe...
I am trying to rediscover my agrarian roots that are at least two generations gone. I have the feeling I might need it pretty soon.
