the difference between your laptop and the ones you see ar work is probably due to the fact that you have a Dell XT and they have the Dell XT2.

the first gen XT's seemed to have more fan/motherboard failing rates. i work w/them at work and i've now replaced about 10 motherboards in the last 7 months. we've used them for about 1 year, we have a fleet of around 500 (and i'm just one of several techs, perhaps we got a bad batch??). :(

the weak cpu seems to be the bottleneck of the problems. battery decent, but perf is about as snappy as my old hp tc1100 was.
