  • It should be an HBO series so I can get all of it.

  • I like the part in Ender's Game where Ender commits massive genocide by killing an entire race of sentient beings.

  • fitting things into films? why dont they make the films longer. I would happily sit for 4-5 hours for this film.

  • What about Enders Shadow? That would be a great film!!!! GO BEAN

  • I wish they could fit everything into the movie, but I understand why they can't. :) So excited!!! <3

  • @AquaPhoenix2006 - Wow, he looks like a good choice. He might really fit the part.

@jangofettfan0001 - Seconded! Who plays Bonito?

  • I'm in this movie. Just got back from the fitting today, in fact. :)

  • whos going to be commander BONZO MADRID??

  • @jangofettfan0001 Moises Arias

  • Who is playing Julian Delphiki? Let's talk Ender's Shadow movie.

  • @0carinku Aramis Knight

  • Fuck. I don't want an Ender's Game movie.

  • Harrison Ford!

  • Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham.... fuck yes.

  • damn, 2012 and no sign of a movie. how long do these things take? or was it a joke?

  • @SirGarjelBlah It's currently slated for 2013

  • @AquaPhoenix2006 YES! THATS GOOD!

  • ASA BUTTERFIELD!!!!!!

  • Harrison Ford is plating Graff and the kid from Hugo is playing Ender

  • @MrJSlimify i shall make your list better

    Harrison Ford-Colonel Graff

    Ben Kingsley-Mazer Rackham

    Abigail Breslin-Valentine

    Hailee Stienfield-Petra

    Asa Butterfield-Ender

  • Harrison Ford - Colonel Graff

Girl from little ms sunshine - Valentine

    Ben Kingsley - Mazer Rackham

    Boy from Hugo - Ender

  • when is the trailer comming out

  • THEY COMPLETELY CUT OUT EVERY THING

  • Slightly disappointed that he said they're not having much of the Battle Room fights :L I was hoping for massive action time :D Oh well, hopefully that game that was being worked on will eventually be released...

  • I really hope they get a good director. I think they should wait until the Hobbit comes out and then get Peter Jackson to direct it in two parts.

  • @andrew321E Then he would put Elves in it instead of Buggers.

  • @lightbulb6155 Yeah, I suppose so...

  • Variety is reporting that Harrison Ford has signed on to play Colonel Graff

  • @ChipMidnight

    :DDDD

  • next, speaker for the dead movie

  • OMG I CAN'T WAIT!! MY FAVE BOOK EVAH!! INTO A MOVIE!!

  • Thank you! I have been wondering if it was possible. I will now be able to accept the changes, now that i have heard it from the aurthor himself. When it comes out (may it be this year or 10 years from now) i will be sure to watch it and not rant on things that are missing. -On a side note, i tend to start ranting on movies based from books if i was not informed ahead of time of the changes, especially from the author.

I am a fan of OSC, and i am really hoping that i could meet him in person!

  • Ben Kingsley was just announced as the first adult cast member. He totally fits the role, i'm stoked!

  • Is he for real?!!! :D I can't wait!!! They haven't turned back on this have they? I KNOW it's not going to even compare to the book, but still! When/if it comes out I will do everything in my power to see it as soon as possible. If anyone had heard anything more please message me.

  • Amazing author.

  • im auditioning for valentine

  • Wait... I LOVE the Battle Room sequences though! D: They're, like, my favorite part of the book! T.T

  • If the book's too long to fit into one GOOD movie... why not just make it two movies?

  • "Not only has he been born... but he's probably already in school!"

    Oh, Card XD hahaha

  • I loved his point about the movie in your head, because really, "a picture might be worth a thousand words", but imagination can be more than enough to paint an amazing picture. This is precisely the reason why I feel a bit skeptical about the Ender's Game movie... the book does such an amazing job of letting our imagination run with it. The movie is already hard enough to make, with all of the obvious casting and plot complications... Will it really live up to the book?

  • Looks like the studio execs finally stopped trying to get Card to let them make Ender a teenager to give him a love interest, which is one of the biggest reasons a movie hasn't been in the works till now. Seems Orson stuck to his guns for good reason, there's no need for a love interest.

  • @PsTwoKnight

agreed. Part of the reason the book was so powerful was because of how alone Ender constantly was. How he found then lost a sister figure both in Valentine and Petra. Being distanced as soon as he found connection. He didn't have the luxury of even considering a romance.

  • @PsTwoKnight

Touche. Plus, there's just no room for a love interest. There's already so much going on, and I feel like a love interest might even cheapen the personal nature of this story. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I feel like the relationship between a boyfriend and girlfriend, at that age, doesn't even come close to the depth of the relationship between mentor and student, brother and sister, or two best friends.

  • @PsTwoKnight

That would totally ruin any chance of sequels :L Ender is too preoccupied to have time for love anyway... :-P

  • @PsTwoKnight

Hell, it would ruin the entire story. 90% of it is how alone the kid feels and how much this isconsidered necessary for him to become the perfect commander. It would be like giving elephant man a plastic surgery.

  • he's got a point about the movie in your head ...but...there is certainly something to be said for actually seeing something amazing not to mention a beat is worth a thousand words. case in point, reading a description of the helicopter crash in matrix would be a far cry from the experience of seeing and hearing it on the big screen. and not everyone can come up with those images in their own imagination. the plain fact is some directors imagine better than the rest of us.

  • Is there going to be a movie?????

  • Frankly... I do not think Speaker for the Dead was that good compared with the other books...

  • @andrew321E Personally Speaker for the Dead was by far my favorite. Though it really had a lot less action.. honestly almost none, it was so philisophical and personal I fell in love with it. :p But i do really hope they never try to turn it into a movie. Each book in the series really differed a lot in tone and tempo.

  • So very excited! I believe they will do an exceptional job with this movie because Orson is actually going to be influencing the decisions made in the movie. He would never allow a company to produce the movie until he was sure they would make it at least as good as the book is. Anyone know the date the movie is supposed to be completed?

  • Ahhhhh! I'm so excited for this movie! I can't help but to think it'll either be incredibly good or just downright horrid.

  • auditioning for the film started last week. I was auditioning for either the part of peter or bonzo. its being directed by gavin hood (xmen origins wolverine).

However i didnt get the part.

  • @blopo7 sorry to hear you didn't get the part. good luck!

  • I would much rather see a well done TV series. But a movie will do i suppose...

  • No wayy. They should make it a series of movies to fit everything because if you don't fit it all the details of the book, all the interpretations, all the development, then there's just no point in making the movie at all. If you cut out THAT much, there's no way you can make it better than the book. It'll seem too rushed.

  • This movie had better be animated. Real people would either be too old or not pull it off cause they're too young.

  • @kirbywinter your wrong it can happen. real people can pull it off

  • 2013!!! Says on IMBd

  • "The enemies' gate is DOWN!". 'Nuff said.

  • ZOMG!!!! I can't wait!!!!!

  • i´ve got the soundtrack.

  • OMG YUHS ENDER'S GAME MOVIE OMG THIS IS SO AMAzING WOOOOO! HOOO!!! lol ender's joke :P

  • Can't they make a part 1 and part 2 of the movie just so they can fit everything in?

  • i hope this movie is good, so many movies based on books are just full of crap and ender's game does not deserve to be called a piece of crap because the books are awesome and i don't care if i have to sit in a theater for 15 hours if it's as good as the book

  • @ShadowBlank8 I completely agree! I loved Eragon... The movie on the other hand, was just.... terrible. I would be completely fine with sitting there for 15 hours too! (as long as there's a intermission.) It would just make me so incredibly sad if people that have never read the book, saw a really bad movie.

  • @ShadowBlank8 I completely agree with you. I only hope they do not make a whole bloody mess out of this movie like they did with the Narnian series. It deserves much better. I am hoping it will be the movie of the decade!

  • It's good to see another author who truly understands the importance of not rushing things. This movie has to be perfect, not some dumbed-down version for the kids. Casting is an important step, Ender was a clever deep dark intellectual; not something easily replicated.

  • @ShotgnTracheotmy Yes! You have a good mind. You ought to write somehting to the producers there representing all of us about what this movie should really be!

  • Yes! I read enders shadow about 2 years ago, and I just fell in love with the plot and the characters, so wen I learned there was a series, I resd them all, and I love them all:) lol 2 years later, and im STILL rereading the ender and shadow series:) they are that good. Im excited for this movie, butttt... I doubt it will be as good as the books, although I will eatch enders game the day it comes out:) no question bout it

  • Am I the only who likes Bean more than Ender?

I would rather watch a movie based on Ender's Shadow

  • @TheSquintyninja You aren't the only one. A ton of my friends are with you.

Personally, I'm not. Ender's Shadow didn't impress me terribly (though I like it enough that I read the entire Shadow Series), but at least you aren't alone :)

  • @TheSquintyninja I like Ender more personally, such a great character. But I love Bean too. :)

  • @TheSquintyninja I liked Bean more than Ender. That's not to say that I don't like Ender; I just found Bean more interesting and intriguing.

  • @TheSquintyninja i liked Enders shadow a lot more than Enders game but i would way rather watch a movie based on enders game

  • yeah im at the end of xenocide right now. its definitely worth reading and i almost cant imagine leaving ender's world at this point in my life. so im really thankful that there are 5 more books in the series for me to read. enders game was my favorite so far tho for sure.

  • i liked the origonal book (not the short story, which was also great) . the authors version was also great, but the first one was my favorite by far. all of enders universe was great though.

  • I'd love to see a movie, but I understand why it's probably not going to happen. So much of the story was internal dialog. It would be very hard to do that in a movie form. BUT....

If they do pull it off, i'll be one of the first in line camping overnight to get tickets.

In the meantime, I hope the story of Bean and his kids gets completed and intersects with Children of the Mind.

  • Nothing in the book need be skipped... if the movie were scrapped in favor of a televised mini-series instead. I bet the SyFy channel would jump onboard.

  • dude i hope that they make the movie really kickass i know its gonna be epic because of all the books that i have read and watched become movies this is the one that i believe should have been at the top of all movie producers lists and so on and so forth anyways kick ass book series and so is shadow of the hedgemon

  • I loved the book and since Orson is now working with Hood on the script, it will be good. I am honestly saddened that he said that stuff about the movies. Now days, if the story needs its popularity, it needs to be a picture. I want everyone to know of this story, for it is like an American epic.

  • I almost forgot to buy the book *facepalm* I'll buy it today probably.

  • This is from the 28th of Oct??

  • @justinknots Yup! Just last Thursday!

  • @xgeckomanx This is fantastic news... I wish they had a better director but I'll still be first in line. My son's name (not kidding) is Ender. I'm psyched. I've been waiting MUCH too long for this.
