  • Anyone else think this is the best song one has ever heard???

  • 1:56 That damn phsychopath!

  • Durp. Abortion next time.

  • Glug GLUG GLUG lolol

  • Hahah what are u the spelling police,,, Eat a dick u fool/

  • To the moron who hates tool, why are u watchin if u hate them? Don't disrespect all ofus just because, you are to blind to be enlightened. We don't need people like u in this world anyway. For people lik u are the problem. Us enlightened tool fans are the only ones who can see the real world.

  • @maggot5150 WTH is this "enlightened" crap? Since when does the music you prefer translate into a higher state of mind or being?

  • @phoenixfire333 Yeah, enlightened is a bit much and I did notice a tendency among some Tool fans to (blindly) idolize the band. But then Jointhemodernworld is a jackass as well for assuming a whole slew of incredibly idiotic items.

  • You Tool fans are so retarded. You over-analyze every last lyric or detail about the band ad absurdum, and think Tool members are Gods and Maynard is an alien that will lead them to salvation. in reality most of you are whiny angsty teenagers closely related to Emo kids, but are far more retarded, because unlike emo kids, you think you are actually intelligent for listening to Tool, whilst emo kids at least admit they're a bunch of fucktards.

  • @jointhemodernworld i get the feeling you're not a musician

  • @jointhemodernworld

Come on ass wipe.. . We love tool because of there MUSIC<< if barbie made this kind of music then i would be a huge fuking barbie fan,, Go back to your top 40 easy listening bullshit, This music is to good for U!

  • @johndoesheph

Basik Englizh iz two gud four u two.

  • @crabfight Troll

  • @jointhemodernworld What is wrong with you? Yes, I love Tool. Yes, I think they have something different and I like it. The same happens with other bands... Maynard isn't my only "God" or "Alien", but he's certantly one of them. So what?

You must have yours "Gods" too...

  • @jointhemodernworld laugh out loud.Hey do they really do that? This band seems pretty cool.I've only been listening to them for a couple years.Don't know much about their fans

  • Kill nig

  • seeing them tonight in toronto!! fuck yeah!!

  • @911SHIZBO i wish i coulda made that tour im pissed

  • Kim Jong Il.... Awk.

  • Makes me want to kick the president in the balls!!!!

  • Tool <3

  • Privacy is a very big thing to Tool. It's well documented (wikipedia) and one of the reasons they dont appear in their own videos. Of all the rock stars on this planet , i honestly can't think of any band or musician (apart from Bjork but thats a different story) that deserves their privacy more than Tool. Their artwork, lyrics and music are second to none and I for one fully respect what is a truly great musical outfit. That is for sure...Daniel.

  • Im gonna roll a joint .When im done i want this to be a top comment

  • This is TOOL.They remember humanity that they have no humanity. They remember a media-centralised society that they lack the kindness to carry in.Gotta love them.Vicarously we are all part vampire-part warrior. The universe is hostile.hahah this is our main motive for being so dark. The world around us is blood-thirsty so we are going to be so....so selfish :)

  • Isn`t it a cover song from " Bring Me The Horizont"???

Well, nevermind as long as it`s EMO.

    EMO4LIFE <3

  • @DerDickeTyp it most deffinitly is not

  • @DerDickeTyp are you fucking retarded.. this isnt even close to "emo" and its was out YEARS before bring me the horizon was invented

  • "We all feed on tragedy like blood to a vampire" So true...

  • @thejuiceninja My favorite lyric from this song, along with the screamed lyrics at the end.

  • im curious about where the video of the girl is from originally. its such a fantastic concept.

  • Comment removed

  • 240p is sucking.

  • 240p we meet again..

  • the song is about a man who has realized the hell our world is and is telling us that we all vicariously walk by it each day as if its all normal. "i need to watch things die, from a distance" means that we all watch people die and our world crumble as we sit on our asses watching the shit hit the fan

    mabey im just crazy?

  • @libertycreationtv then im crazy aswell.

  • @libertycreationtv Nope, you're just being pretentious. I understand the lyrics perfectly. The phrase "living vicariously through someone else" means to enjoy exciting experiences that you are unable to have yourself by listening to someone else describe their experiences to you. So in here he sang "Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies", which has a strong sense of sarcasm.

People find death and tragedies amusing to watch, like you.

  • @MegaVietNam by making those assumptions and saying you understand perfectly, it sounds as if you're the one being pretentious. everyone has opinions and interpretations, and they were just expressing their own. unless you're Maynard, I don't know if you'd understand "perfectly" what he is conveying. you may have a strong understanding, but not a perfect one.

  • @MegaVietNam What are you saying it is about? agree that it "describes the vicarious thrill the public receives from living through others in the media eye". But it's got nothing to do with 'amusing', people find tragedies fascinating and rarely amusing.

  • i see illuminati! @6:58

  • @FaithintheFat all of tools songs are good

  • one of tool's best songs

  • fight me you damn billy goat! >:(

  • I like to see things die from a distance too. Through my leupold scope :D

  • tool has the most badass videos

  • @Megadeth563563 this isn't an original tool video: it makes too much sense

  • @bookworm1138 Thats why I like their videos. You can watch them over and over again and try to figure out the hidden message. Or come up with some interesting thoughts yourself.

  • @bookworm1138 What are you talking about? TOOL's music videos make perfect sense...

Perhaps it is you that isn't making sense?

  • @bookworm1138 LOL so true

  • @bookworm1138 I thought something was off. I'm glad it wasn't just me.

  • @bookworm1138 lol you sounded like leona campbell from mad tv there :D

  • We must get 10 milion view!

  • TOO MANY SNOWFLAKES! DD:

  • Haha! xDD I'm havin' fun wit' the snowflakes! :DD

  • oh,,,,the images...the "leaders" ....fucked up things some humans do ... inigma "was" my fav tool song till this!!!

  • Vicarious means something along the lines of "in the way of a vicar". A vicar is a deputy, and the term is used today in for example, in the Catholic Church as the name for a Bishop with a role as a deputy (i.e. Apostolic Vicariate, a territory of the Church without a Bishop).

  • By the way... all you people arguing about what the word "Vicarious" means it means to live through something. Not to be off to the sidelines... If a mother lives vicariously through her daughter she is trying to make her daughters life as good as the life SHE WANTED but never got. So when Maynard says he lives vicariously through peoples deaths, it's him finding comfort in the death of others and living through their pain so he doesn't need any on his own.

  • @piratemaster977 credulous at best is your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men, u totally misunderstood the song insolent fool

  • @ReplayBlueJeanz Hmm well I'm sorry did Tool sell a book with all the meanings of every song they have ever made? No, it's your interpertation I am making the point for the people who wanted to know what "Vicarious" meant. So next time you want to be a smart ass do it correctly, insolent fool. (See I can do it too)

  • @piratemaster977 congratulations, u made yourself look like a total idiot as you were stating to represent the fucken person himself

  • @ReplayBlueJeanz He could have said what he just said in an interview and you could be the idiot. you know that, right?

  • @LordHypnos93 if u cant see the obviously nearly diabolic tone of the lyrics your just a ignorant idiot, i'll rephrase it: credulous at best is your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men

  • @ReplayBlueJeanz ever figure the lyrics aren't meant to sugar coat the evil it points out? you seem to be another whiny bitch trying to cause people to get mad at nothing. that's why i just report all your kinda shit as spam cause it doesn't belong here.

  • @ReplayBlueJeanz you* fucking* Also your sentance has the grammar level of a 4-year old. I highly suggest that you stop bitching on youtube, and go back to school. Also I am not the one who looks like an idiot regardless of what your little pathetic brain (that thinks you're intelligent) regards me as. Now you are wasting my time, ciao.

  • @piratemaster977 From what I've read it means 'feeling through something or someone else.'

As in, the mother felt her Daughter's joy when she graduated.

or: It felt like I was at that car crash I'm watching on the T.V.

  • @piratemaster977 I think this is about TV, being addicted to the drama that TV can bring us.

  • @mudfreek Well that's the beauty of tool, it's your own interpretation. I was just making the point for the ones arguing about Vicarious and ending it is all. But what ever you believe this song means is what it means to you. That's why I love Tool, nobody is right and nobody is wrong.

  • @piratemaster977 Awesome way of putting it bro!

  • @piratemaster977 I'm almost certain it means curious about violence?

  • @MitchieCookie123 The word Vicarious? No it doesn't, but if you're referring to the meaning of the song as he is "curious about violence" then you are not right, or wrong. It's Tool nobody can be either.

  • LOL watching this video and listening to this song with the snowflake feature on is fucking amazing....

  • the lyrics from this song are one of the best lyrics i've ever heard

  • This is and has been my favorite song for years now. I tell you this, not one time out of the 1,171 times i've listened to this song in my itunes, that last part has always been the most epic thing i've ever heard in my life. 4:50 - End.

  • 7907743 people watched this video? Huh... Not bad for the Video Of The Decade (2010-2019) ... Yes, this is it. The One and Only. Nothing else can beat it. Thanks, Rifkin777.

  • The end times are coming maybe not as soon as they predicted, thats just the devil biding his time to rauoght more and more minds to add to his army. God Bless what ever God you believe in, may he bless you and us all

  • @mbrosset318 There was no time given to that day of the Lord. Remember... "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." - 2 Peter 3:8 The fact that the return of the Lord has not yet occured is a sign of God's mercy on the world, God is waiting for the births of all those to be saved, it is not the devil adding to his army but God.

  • @WorshipInTruth hehe funny

  • or a junky kid in a PS3?

  • 1:57 my hero... No I'm just pulling your leg he was a twat:D

  • Damnit, the Bengals lost again. 1:33

  • Haha yeah I think the problem here is being too vicarious, rather than not enough.

  • 1:57 dead :D

  • This song breaks my heart because it's all too true, so many people refuse to live Vicariously and it causes too many problems.

  • @BlueOctober13th what? you know what vicariously means right?

"Vicarious: indirectly, as, by, or through a substitute; "she enjoyed the wedding vicariously". So viewing violence vicariously is the problem pointed out in the song, I get what you where trying to say though.

  • @Bigred17756 as in launching missles, or being a high ranked military official. you watch the fighting off to the side of things

  • @Dutchmanvideos Kinda, but it's more how we alll like to watch bad shit happen in the news and in movies. We have to see tragedies because we get a thrill from it, at least on subconcious level(ever notice how tragic stories in the news get higher ratings then pleasent or happy reports), even if we are sad or angry about it, and most people are too cowardly to see it up close in personal, so we just like to watch others suffer from a distance.

  • anyone else get chills at 1:56?

  • Best, most intense video I have ever watched while really, really fucking high.

  • I always think of this song when I'm driving on the highway and there's an accident, how everybody slows down to rubberneck and look at the carnage. Natural morbid curiosity.

"I need to watch things die, from a good safe distance".

    Love this song.

  • "STARE LIKE A JUNKIE INTO THE TV"

  • @thejuiceninja i thought it was zombie

  • best video for this song that i've seen. nice job

  • @TehTomberry Yer doin' it wrong.

  • Today I learned the (real) music video for this song goes along with Parabola not Vicarious. If you'd not believe me, check this video response.

  • @ACR4V3N Or search Vicarious Parabola Music video

  • this sounds so much like Schism

  • @bloodisonthewall666 not at all

  • and you dare to call this a song of tool? just a loop and nothing else so low to compared to the original work of tool, theres no work there just a woosh and the same loop over and over

  • @Kromagnonful Yall keep forgetting the lyrics

  • 2:44 to 3:08 is taken from Aphex Twin clip's come to daddy

  • the suggestion list to the right makes me sad

  • GREAT song, very disturbing music video though :I

  • what the fuck justin bieber doing on suggestions?

  • i need to watch things die

  • Awesome video. The meanings are great. War seems so beautiful, but it's really fat and ugly in reality. And it's always in bondage in either case.

  • Lord have mercy at Christians who judge and atheists who curse. I tell you tool is good because at least they open up the minds of non-believers. Woe to ignorance in this world.

  • @truedisciple7 Bro take your religious opinions to a religious video n leave tool be man, no offense.

  • why isn't Tool on iTunes? :(

  • @2012cabbage Tool, or their record company at least, didn't sell the rights to their music to Apple, so essentially they're one of too few who actually resist this super corporation and try to remain underground

  • fucking amazing

  • No better video available for this song. No other video can beat this one. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  • @wvfjr um, what about the actual video for this song? It's amazing, this is kind of amateur hour comparitively..

  • Como diria meu primo Carlos Português: "Ixto é um EXPETÁCULO!"
