  • A Great Artist and a Great Band !! Have seen them about 5 times !!!!

  • I defy anyone to listen to this song and not feel uplifted.

  • 0ldschool

  • And Terry Clements was so gorgeous back then!

  • Thy bosom is endeared with all hearts, Which I by lacking have supposed dead, And there reigns love and all love's loving parts, And all those friends which I thought buried. How many a holy and obsequious tear Hath dear religious love stol'n from mine eye As interest of the dead, which now appear But things removed that hidden in thee lie! Thou art the grave where buried love doth live, Hung with the trophies of my lovers gone, Who all their parts of me to thee did give;
  • @uncatila Thank God!

  • I can't seem to get myself to take this CD out of my player. Great song from a great album !

  • I love this song and not to mention the album. Really bummed out to here about Terry Clements passing !

  • Terry is the lead guitarist in the denim blue outfit. His death was is a huge crush to me !

  • @faehurry23 OMG, I heard right now of Terry's death in the age of 63 yrs... I'm shocked and sad.

    MAY HE REST IN PEACE

  • Sadly , Terry Clements passed away on Feb. 20th. I miss you already Terry ! R.I.P. my dear friend !

  • love it more cant wait 4 summer time dream

  • freakin awesome!~!! best ever...Gordo!

  • This is one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs. I grew up in Michigan right near the Canadian Border and Gordon Lightfoot was a fixture on bith Michigan and Canadian radio and I listened with a tapping foot and an eager ear everytime I heard his unique voice and turn of phrase. I am awed by his gift as a singer/songwriter. Thanks for posting this video.

  • I saw him live once and he really does sound just as good live as recorded. I love an artist who is true to the music for the entertainment as opposed to just entertaining.

  • Love love love it!!

  • so good always makes me happy what a talent

  • my man

  • its all good found sir g long time ago saw once i luv his songs bout time i dont feel so alone now

  • Gordon Lightfoot, you should go to England and be Knighted by dear Queen

    Mum. It's that simple.

What a grand ring to it, Sir Gordon Lightfoot!

    Amen to that!

    God Bless Gordon Lightfoot.

  • @Fk67Lg

I had never thought of that but now that you mention it, he will always be Sir Gordon to me.

  • Where can I find the lyrics to this wonderful melody?

Gordon sings it with a charming , personal sincerity.and with a lightly rollicking

happy and upbeat tempo .However, his accent, if he can be said to have one, makes it kind of challenging for me to understand all words.

It's a beautiful song, and full on happiness and the unabashed joy of living,

A timeless jewel of the sweet innocence of enjoying the simple beauty of life.

It has a charm to it which never fades away.....

  • Terry Clements was the lead guitar in 1976 album "Summertime Dream",,for more information go to visit the wikipedia,,,

  • Fantastic!!! Gords always knew how to write very catchy and rolling lyrics that fit the melody so well. Not many songwriters like this anymore sadly.

  • porpoisefathom, I am pretty sure that Terry Clements played lead on the SUMMERTIME DREAM Album (1976). I think Red Shea was gone by then.

  • GREAT THANKS

  • Hes the best writer ever

  • Lightfoot always sounded better live because he did the allbum

then took it on the road and it started to refine itself in performance.

  • Gordon Lightfoot is a legend.

  • That's the mark of a true "artiste" ... when they sound just as good in concert as they do in the recording studio. I have seen him twice in concert and he's GREAT.

  • Embed code broken

  • It would be nice if Lightfoot and YouTube would let us here his more perfect renditions from his albums.

  • 888music@boelchen no Gord was never a lead player. He has always been a rhythm player. TERRY CLEMENT played lead on many Gord songs including THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD.

  • @gordlightfootfan wasnt that Red Shea on the fitzgerald album?

  • This is my favorite Gord song. Loved it from the 1st time I heard it

  • @Kaitipoo Me to & still do!!

  • My mom love Gordon Lightfoot. Wen I was 4 years old I can remember her playing

his songs over and over. And I love his music to he is a grate man.

  • My favorite Gord song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! loved it the first time I heard it. He has so many great songs. Timeless. Go Gord!!!!! Keep doing what you do best.

  • Gordon Llghtfoot is one of the most underrated singer-songwiters out there. I loved his music 35 years ago and I still do.

  • I heard this song on the radio once when I was a kid and loved it. Never heard it again, and it took me decades to know it was Gordon's. Lovely :-)

  • Ah, it's songs like this that really put a smile on my face and give me a warm feeling. I only wish music like this was still a regular thing. Thanks for this great song Gordon!

  • Thank you, Gordon Lightfoot, for providing us w/ so many great tunes and so many hours of listening pleasure. And thank you, bernardbriggs, for uploading this classic.

  • Perhaps my favorite Gordon Lightfoot song - from the album of the same name. Several great songs on that album. Great to see and hear him here.

Thank you for a great post!

  • 2:16

his name is Terry Clements. He's my guitar god!!

  • @boelchen

Did he play lead on Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?

Do you know how he got that tone? If so, please let me know.

  • @888music

I just know his name from my dad's RecordCover. Unfortunately I don't know anything else of him. Probably he was lead at the WotEF. Watch the Video of the Edmund Fitzgerald i Soundstage, Chicago 1979. I believe he is 0:53 on the left side.

  • He's been playing with Gord (and bass player Rick Haynes- spelling?) since... early 70s I think. Still playing, saw him after the show just last year.

Yep, that's him. Not sure how the guitar was set up though.. you mean the newer version of the song right?

  • When it comes to music, I'm more lyrics-oriented than actual music-oriented, and though I couldn't hear most of the lyrics in this song, what I could hear, in combination with the gloriously simple tune, made me cry. Long live Gord.

  • Gordon was a class act and the tunes- timeless.

  • Was? He's not dead. He's still very much with us, my friend. But yes, timeless indeed...

  • I lived and worked in Orillia for 15 years. This song is so about Orillia. At noon, every day, the noon day bell would sound from the church downtown. I had a farm on the outskirts, and the birds in all creation really did come twittering in the trees,

  • Such a great tempo, you can't help but tap your foot.....a classic!

  • I love this song and the album. Glorious summer stuff. Keep on going, Gordon!!

  • where did you find soundstage at? I tried to look for and all I could find was live in reno.

  • They've started playing this song before Blue Jays games during a video montage of Baseball History in Canada. Awesome!!!

  • Thank you!!!

  • gordon lightfoot is so awesome. This is a great song, has anyone seen him perform this on Saturday night live in 76?

  • Yes that was an awesome one. You can actually buy the sat night live seasons, that was how I found the song.

  • one thing about Gordon he is loyal to his sidemen. This crew has performed for so many years without a change in personnel. By now they really have it down...one of my favorite artists but, the only complaint I have is they acutually play too quiet in live performances. Sometimes it is difficult to hear them and this is the only great performing band I know with that problem.

  • Now it's summer, in winter i will come to Toronto ,yust to see Gord. He is 4 ever Gordon

  • A GREAT song writer and singer!!! So glad that I got to hear this man's songs when I studied in Canada in 1980...God bless Gordon Lightfoot and Canada!!!

  • I love this song, one of my favorites!!! thank you so much for posting this. A great tune to listen to in the summer, gives that feel of it.

  • Thank you so much - Gordon 4ever
