My disk boots up the desktop of Ubuntu but never asks me to install : ( I've waited for over 20 minutes. I can move the mouse around and click on the speaker logo as well as connect to the internet but nothing else happens. Anyone know why I'm having this problem?
@JayDawg211 Yes I can help you with that. I ran into that problem as well. Make sure that your confirm password matches your password and that your username begins with a lowercase letter.
@ManosWwe after restart ubuntu should start unless you installed with windows then you just select ubuntu thats all after the restart it is do what do you mean?message me if you still need help
I know notihng about programming or software, but Ubuntu was incredibly easy to install and get started with, and it's a fantastic OS! I love the customization features and plug ins, and its very fast.
unfortunately it has not been so 'easy'. After finally getting to the graphical install after receiving the '(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system' error a few times, it still will not complete successfully. The first time I tried it hung for 5 hours while copying files. So I finally pulled the plug. Tried again, and it hung for about 30 minutes after clicking 'install now' (erase whole disk and install), then the screen went black and the install never came back
can i install ubuntu just like any other OS ? ( burn on CD , restart pc , set 1st boot device to be CD/DVD drive , and start installation on an existing partition ??? )
cuz i've tried it once & it won't do it =/
either it skips it ( when i put 1st to be CD/DVD & 2nd Hard Drive - boot devices ) or it shows that there is no Boot Media inserted ( when i just put CD/DVD drive in boot devices )
I'd like to see what steps NOT to take if I don't want ANYTHING erased from the hard drive. That's why I canceled halfway thru installation. Currently I have the 32-bit installed, but I wanted to try the 64 for editing AVCHD.
@vonijoe If you already have an operating system installed this is what will happen. At 0:09 when it says erase and use entire disk there will be another option saying install along side current operating system. Just click that and it will guide you through.
i have a problem installing this when i press enter on the install ubuntu button it takes me to a black screen i wait for half an hour still nothing i have tried this multiple times if you no a solution please send me an email on jmwrulz@hotmail.com

I had ubuntu 10.04 64bit, and I did an upgrade to 10.10. However, after completing the installation, I cannot boot into ubuntu anymore. I select ubuntu at the boot menu, then the computer reboots again and again. I might just wait until they fix this problem before downloading ubuntu 10.10 again.
Hey! Are you still making these? They were awesome!

@DarkDant3 Ubuntu comes with a program called wubi that allows you to install ubuntu side by side your current operating system.

@DARKZAYCHAOS
yeah , i managed to install it somehow ...
but i had my some "Grub rescue" problems on like.. 20 startups and i had some troubles with installing wubi too ...
