Siempre toco con la guitarra afinada 1/2 tono más abajo (me resulta más suave, con más cuerpo y para cantar también me va mejor) y para no subir de tono al hacer una versión, prefiero bajar de tono la pista de acompañamiento.

I been trying to learn the first solo, how hard on a scale from 1 - 10 is it?

This solo is not fast, but it's not easy to learn since Knopfler has a great sense of rhythm, feeling and an amazing musical taste.

If you try to do it without a plectrum (using your fingers like MK, it's going to be even more difficult -I couldn't do it without a plectrum-). It's very difficult to tell you how difficult it is, but... IMO it's much more difficult than "faster" shredders (guitar heroes) that might seem more complicated at first. I recommend you analize Knopfler... HE'S GREAT!!!!

@singalong1971 this solo is impossible to play with a plectrum to me, and i think its much easier to pick with fingers. you play it great, and if you learn to pick with your fingers, it would be much better. MK once said something like "why use a pick, when you already have 5 picks on your hand"

Just a little slide on the air, but it didn't sound. This is something I do in many solos (it's a small "tic" I have), appart from others, je je (checking the volume every now and then, etc.).

Allthough this is indeed amazing, I would like to point out that playing Knopfler with a pick is a violation of the law. At least it should be... It sounds very nice, by all means, but you won't get the famous KnopflerTone if you play it with a pick. It takes much practice to learn to play like Knopfler, but the rush of satisfaction that comes with only the slightest bit of improvement is absolutely priceless!

hola,

la tengo bajada de tono (como muchos guitarristas: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb) porqué como también canto, me va mucho mejor para mi tono de voz. Además, las cuerdas quedan más suaves y puedes darle más feeling y vibrato más fácilmente sin necesidad de ponerte un 0.8 (llevo un 0.9-0.42 de cuerdas) con el tacto y suavidad de un 0.8-0.38 -y con el cuerpo del 0.9

Yes. I have changed the original tone (half a step down) My guitar is tuned Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. This tuning fits better with my voice range (I also sing).
