Sonny is such a sweetheart! But why did you take away its natural way of moving? Birds are meant to fly! Nobody has the right to clip their wings - it is a cruelty to the bird. Please try to think as a bird. If you would lay your legs in chains you would feel the same ....
Plz take a look at my partkeet takin a bath in our hands. Its called Splash, sonnys takin a bath. Its cause ive had it up 4 bout 2 mounths and it has only 7 views.... So plz check it out!!!:) thanks
@myjg123456 Go for the Quaker. I've owned both birds and the Quaker is the more sociable of the two. Suns quickly bond to one person, and they can become aggressive.
@verticalsmurf how can they become aggresive? oh, and i might get a bird (small, quiet, socializable, fun, cute) what would be the best one for beginnners? im thinking the biggest would be a parottlet, sun conure, or quaker. i dont know which is biggest but no bigger than an amazon. help?
@therearekangaroos123 - If they aren't socialised well or if they spend too much time with one person, Suns can consider that person to be their mate. I spent too much time with my Sun when I first got him, and now he even arks up if someone walks by on the street. Seriously, go for the quaker, they are less nuts, they are bigger clowns, and are more tolerant of strangers. They laugh when excited and purr when they are calm. Beautiful birds. I'd love to get another one but Phoenix would kill it.
how do the sun conures become aggressive? like what do you have to do to make them aggressive? what do you not want to do? - because my mom and dad had two conures and they never said anything about "aggressiveness", I think they only turn aggressive if you do something bad to them -_-
Do you WANT your conure to be aggressive? They are very unpleasant when they become unfriendly. If you want to keep him from BEING aggressive, play with him, talk to him, spend at least an hour a day with him and give him a clean cage and plenty of toys. That will ensure he's a happy, healthy parrot.
Except for the rare case where you're just pestering a well-tempered bird endlessly, aggressiveness in parrots is a sign that you're doing something wrong.
no I do not want my conure to be aggressive, I didn't mean to make it sound like it that way, I just wanted to know how to stop there aggressiveness if any, and how to prevent it from ever happening....
haha when my Conure takes a bath, all you have to do is turn on the water in the sink and he RUNS into the sink and stands under the running water LOL!!!!!! he LOVES water soo much!
@myjg123456 - Do you have 30-40 years to take care of either? If you don't spend enough time with either they can become depressed. They are social birds but they also tend to bond with one human, they can become very protective of their human.. If you want a mimicking and freakishly smart bird go for the Quaker, if you want a snuggle bird go for the conure
did you breed her yourself? The reason i ask is because i didnt see a leg band... and depending on age, either she's never had one or you had an open band removed, which is also a good idea...
Hey did you happen to give that bird away? You spell that bird's name exactly the way we did... we got our bird from one of my dad's clients. or coworkers or something. ;o
hahaha... my conure loves showers too... but he takes them in the shower and only gets his top side wet... then i blow dry him with a hair dryer... he's turned into a little human now... he even screams to let us know that he needs to poop in the toilet...
lol my spoiled little brat does that in his water bowl every chance he gets despite the fact that he gets baths. Its cute to watch, but of course it just means changing his water sometimes 2-3 times a day. What a nut case. Your little one looks very happy in the bath.
Why do you clip him? It is totally unnecessary. My Conure has free flight around my house and even goes outside with me. She doesn't alway come when I call her, but she eventually comes to me. Their self-confidence is so much better when you don't clip them. My Mimi flies to shower with me every time she hears me.
Why don't you look at youtube user's kskiwi last video. THAT is the reason captive bred parrots should have their wings trimmed!! Our pet parrots are not wild animals, they are pets and CAN NOT survive if they escape. You say "she doesn't always come when I call"!! You are truly being an irresponsible parrot owner!!! Poor Mimi!!
I have had many parrots, and they have all used their wings to 'scoop' water over their backs. I got my Sun, Phoenix about 4 months back, and I couldn't understand why he would just stretch out his wings and walk around in the water. I guessed that his previous owner didn't give him a big enough bath, but Phoenix does exactly what Sonny is doing here. Now I know that this is just how Suns bathe. Thanks!
you know a sun conure's wings don't need to be clipped... let him fly around... if he is well trained he will love the comfort of a human and never fly away... check out my montage of my sun conure
Thumbs up if you watched this with your sun conure
