i did everything i possibly could to change the NAT, like adjusting the dmz for my ps3, ive also done your whole process with the UDP in the port forwarding, and it still has a NAT type of 3. why wont it change!?

Great video man, I have a PS3 and i really wanted to play Red Dead Redemption with my friend but his connection is NAT 2 and mine is Nat 3 and I am all good until the part at 3:50 when that security window pops up. I also have a Cisco e1000 router and I do not know what the user name and password should be please respond if you have any clue what my user name and Password might be.

@Lumpygrass to get open if you have nat type 2, turn off your ps3, then reset your internet, then go back on your ps3, put mw2 in host 1 round of search in private, or whatever, then take mw2 out and put mw3 in

Okay, seriously, I've got mine at nat type 2, and i'm STILL having serious issues playing online (specific game is dark souls) and occasionally i'll get a message when doing an internet connection test saying my router doesnt support "ip fragments", but this message does not come up every time. @23redtailcatfish Try calling your ISP up and get them to help you bridge your modem. afterwords go into your router and change the "Connection Type" to PPPoE. Doing this it will ask your for a username and password. Which will be your username and password you use for your modem. If you don't know it then just ask your ISP what it is. After you have done that. Forward the Playstation network ports onto your router. Then get on your ps3 re-connect it to the internet and test the connection.

Please thumbs-up this comment so it sticks: I just fixed my NAT problem after a long fight. The problem wasn't just the router: it was the modem as well! The way to tell if your modem is the problem is to connect the ethernet cable directly from modem to PS3...if it is still NAT3, problem is the modem! I had to 'bridge' mine. Google your modem name and "bridge" and you'll find how to do the same...it involves logging in to the modem directly. THEN set up the DMZ via router.

@ogerepus YOU SIR!! are the smartest person i know at moment. THANK YOU SO MUCH! After years of trying to change my NAT type this helped. For everyone else what you have to do is bridge you modem and then go onto your router if you have one and change the connection type to PPPoE and type in your modems username and password. and wala. lol.

First of all. if u have a modem and a wireless internet box u got 2 firewalls and it is one of those things that make it into nat type 3 i tried for 8 months and it wouldnt let me get nat type 2 so i bought a Modem/Wireless Internet box it meens that the modem and wireless internet box is in one box and then the firewall will not be so restricted because it is only one machine and it can work together so i will suggest that u go and buy an all new router For example NETGEAR VVG2000 (it works)

I am sick of these damn routers. sometimes I get NAT 2 sometimes I don't and when I tried to change it to STAIC IP's then nothing could get on the internet. Luckily I found out I could reboot the router because I thought I lost my router forever. I looked at my internet status on the ps3 and wrote my IP address down there, then forwarded the prots to that address, went back to connection settings on the ps3 and manually changed the ip address to that one (cause it was set to "automatic" and i just wanted to be sure). Now theres no internet connection at all to my ps3 and its all fucked up. Any idea how to get it back? There isnt even a green light when the ethernet cord is plugged in at the back.

@TheEdwinM777 Moderate is NAT type 2. Best thing you can get is Open, which is NAT type 1.

NAT type 1 means directly connected to internet.

I have NAT type 2 and it causes alot of problems. I play call of duty black ops and I often get kicked off parties and I get very poor connection so I see other players transporting and they seem to see me before I see them so I get killed alot.
