  • Next time, when I girl tells me I'm not listening to them I'll tell them."You don't need to listen to hear"...:)

  • Great job

  • this is a truly wonderful film. im inspired

  • This is truly beautiful I am pouring in happy tears, thanks to everyone participating in the making of this brilliant documentary! Love and light!

  • i remember watching this video back in 08.. still great

  • each of us have gifts we can share. we need one another to make us complete.

hearing is a challenge yes your eyes can see. yet you are valuable in what you do. wanted send a poem too long so i can not God bless good vidio

  • This is adorable!

  • "If a tree falls in a forest, and doesn't land on an American, then did that tree really fall?"

  • ive watched this video like 20 times for no apparent reason.

  • naja echt aber ich bin irgendwie traurig weil ich ziemlich einsam bin

  • Me: Yes, it makes a sound

    You: Why?

Me: Well you see its all over a question if sound is a technical detail or merely a matter of perception. Now if your counting it as a matter of perception, then yes somebody has to be there to hear it. But if your counting sound as a manipulation of airwaves and molecules bouncing off each other then no, nobody has to be there for a sound to exist.

You: Wtf u reading that off wikipedia or something LOL?

Me: No im just not an idiot

  • @bloood9 just a little curious but from what your saying it seems that anyone that doesn't have a strong intrest in science and how the world works is an idiot? You don't need to know how to live to be alive.

  • @MsQwert666 easy, it was a joke.

  • cutest girl i've ever seen.

  • @donreplies u need to go outside lil more then.....

  • steve anthopoulos is Greek??

  • This is very good. I enjoyed it very much :)

  • THIS IS GOOD

  • this i pretty cool , check out my media short film its pretty funny

  • 585 people dislike this which means 585 people are idiots!

  • Wow... this film was brilliant! I really enjoyed it, I think you did a great job!

  • If a tree falls on a woman in the forest... what the hell was a forest doing in a kitchen?

  • nice

  • are u seriously deaf

  • i would have titled this

    Listen With My Eyes

but congrats on winning all those film competitions!

  • @Thenbz6 The thing is, it was named Tree in the Forest because the idea was probably captured because of the question.

  • this made me cry,a lot

  • sound only becomes sound when someone hears it, if no one is there then no one hears it. therefore its only vibrations

  • great video

  • this is a great movie 5 star rating

  • I think Deaf culture is perfectly defensible given how limiting oralist education is. It's easy for us to learn sign language. It's near impossible for a born-deaf person to learn to lip read - some can, but mostly only deafened people lip-read or lip-speak with any facility.

I'm not Deaf, but I've learned two sign languages, and have a solid appreciation for Deaf poetry (based on hand-shape, meaning & rhythm) and Deaf culture.

    'So-called' separates you from me.

    God bless you, too.

    h.

  • ThompsonSeedless,

Plastic surgery tends to fix your expression - you can smile, but you may lose the ability to frown, scowl, look surprised (or unsurprised...) - and basically end up like her barbies. Seemingly cheerful, but not very communicative.

  • Its a question of existance. It doesn't have to be if you heard it or not. If you weren't around to even see it would it happen? LIke this statement "If we were to have a nuclear holocaust and no one is there to be aware of the universe, the univese doesn't exist. Same goes with the tree, no one was there to hear or listen to it. Therefore it failed to exist to fall or make a sound.

  • The universe would exist regardless of us. To think that it would cease to exist without us is to grossly overestimate the importance of humans. The universe is grander than us.

That is the kind of thinking that got humans to be plagued by the delusion that god exists and that it created the universe just for us.

  • that was touching....:) !

  • yeah me 2 love this video :)

  • I love this video!

  • Awesome smack in the face of blind people. Tina FTW :)

  • She isn't meant to be talking.

    She is thinking.

its the same as asking how they can speak english

  • It's movie! And she doesnt have to be born deaf..

  • hey that was really beautiful! thanks! XD

  • "if the only thing you have to point to in regards to god is a book, your a tool bag"

  • shes hot lol

    jk

  • Sorry, I am lazy, and a elitist snob,

    I've tracking New York,Chicago,Sundance,Toronto

Santa Barbara and San Francisco festivals and only for features. I am sorry I missed your film until now

  • Oh no, no, it was only in smaller festivals.

  • Being a film collector I can honestly say that this is an awarding short film. I hope you can get it on the film festival circuit. Are you currently working on a feature film?

  • Thanks, it already has been through festivals, you can see a list of them on the right. And yes I am working on a feature.

  • dumb

  • anyone (above 21, at least) remember the movie 'Mr. Holland's Opus'? That was touching, and this short reminded me of that. Well done. Steve, if you haven't already, you'll be Hollywood in no time!!!

  • That's exactly the conclusion she comes to during her narration while you were too distracted by the CD player.

  • Maybe you should get out of the street before you're hit by the truck you can't hear.

    Kidding. Good video.

  • its really good but ill tell u what, u can be a great musician being deaf, if u at least ONCE u listened to music. But if ure born deaf, im sorry, ull never be a good musician, u may be able to feel the rythm but unluckily, thats a very little part.

  • Correction: Beethoven had always been deaf. He used to 'feel' the different intensities of each note to decipher sound harmonies. That was taught in school. Check your resources, sweetheart.

  • i am interpreting this video for my sign language class, is there anyway that i can get a copy of the script? please and thank you!

  • Me and my friend love this vid, very funny and insperational, thank you :D

  • "maybe why my barbie dolls seem so happy is because plastic surgery does that to your face." hahaha

this is such a beautiful short, i had tears in my eyes by the end of it.

i see by the credits you got many family members to help u out on this one, lol, families are great aren't they.

  • It was actually Beethoven that was deaf... Love this video!!

  • ShroudedFury is correct, there were Musicians out there that were deaf. Very talented Musician's at that. I watched this video, and realized after the first 60 seconds that this video was to prove a point to the audience that even though one may have lost their hearing ability, it does not mean they are useless.

Keep up the good work Spacebody Productions.

  • Let me see now.. I believe Mozzart was deaf and he was a bloody genius! So like Spaceboy said, stop trying to be a smart ass. I play keyboard and i can play ity with my eyes closed so if i was blind i could still play. Take Stevie Wonder for example. If a person is deaf does that mean that they also lose the ability to read sheet music? I don't think so some how. Sight and sound are NOT the only form of human senses you know. Before you make stupid comments use some initiative and think!

  • I think you're thinking of Beethoven who became deaf but still continued to compose & perform based on his inner perceptions of music.

I'm fairly sure Mozart's hearing was relatively good until his relatively early death...

    Helen

  • Nice work, I appreciate it.

It makes you warm and cuddly inside, but it's utter nonsense. I doubt that someone whose deaf can play in a band. You need to hear the others.

  • maybe your video should have subtitles. not everyone can hear the narration.

  • 1. People who can't hear well don't usually visit YouTube.

    2. Just in case someone does, there already is a subtitled version, see "more info" smartass.

  • amazing!!

  • alrite

  • omg

    that was amazing

im on the verge of tears

  • why would you tell peaople that you are theaf when you don't need to?... why would you tell lies when you don't need to?...

  • that was really good i made me almost cry

  • Wow. Way to make a former Marine cry like a little girl.

  • This was very sentimental mushy

it wasent bad but a bit cliche

    but it wasent bad.

  • take critics positively, because some people may think the video is bullshit, and still be ok. So shut up and think before u speak. The idea is very good, but if u know anything about cinema, ull realise its not as good as it looks.

  • oh my godness i almost cried this is very sad and happy was this real is tina really deaf plz make more videos about tina plz plz she should get a puppy or somethin like that!plz!oh and tinas really pretty im going to wear my hair like yours now more often cuz thats the exact same haircut as me this is beautiful you should write a poem and send it to me oh that would be great thanx for making this vid its so awesome <3

  • Great job. Keep up the excellent work. It was very successful on every level. Adorable girls, good production values, polished and touching.

  • genial! conmovedor!!

  • btw, the below comment is in relation to "musikTECH (1 week ago)" comment.

  • Hey SpaceboyProductions can you please I don't know monitor the comments, people don't need to see that bull crap. This is your video, delete wack job comments please.

  • I do monitor them and generally the very crude ones don't get seen. The stupid comments suck, but that's the price for the exposure.

  • Great video! : )

  • You're a worthless bastard, and you deserve to be hung for saying that, or at least locked away from society. Where do these people come from? Wow the internet is great, but damn you get wack jobs on the comment boards, just imagine a young kid seeing that kind of comment Pierceher posted. It's sad enough you have to get used to it, as you grow, but gosh Pierceher get a life, you hateful bastard.

  • In the ocean, there are times which we must live for. In the ocean, there are lands which must be found.

  • Gorgeous program!!

  • simply awesome

  • who gives 10 bucks to a busker?!, most ive givvin was 2 bucks

  • for those who have given this a "-3": it's true though, who does give a busker $10?!

although, the $10 in the short film is an exaggeration. It is there to emphasise to the audience that her music is appreciated.. through this the director can convey to the audience his view of "If a tree falls in a forest and no one's around...does it make a sound? Does it matter if you know it's fallen?"

it's basically all apart of how a movie is composed to portray certain views.

  • Nice vid! really well put together! Thanks!

  • what an inspirational vid

  • i like your funny shit better, this

    blows

  • lol that heaps funny i know what you mean i got this video sent ot me and i was like what the hell.

  • this is awsome!great vid!

  • nice work

  • they are greek

  • she probably has a friend speaking for her because no deaf person can speak that clearly.

    and she's totally cute.

oh hey "ezscottitall", it's DEAF not DEATH.

  • are you fkin retarded i have deaf friends that can speak fine wth you dont even know what you are talking about. Btw did you know that most of my deaf friends can lip read lol. I am not deaf. Nice vid.

  • Nice video.

  • It was a interesting story, a little sad but teaches you something

  • yerrr.... load of crap.

L2play guitar, and ahh, yes there would be sound if a tree fell regardless if someone was there to hear it~

  • it must be a fake vid i mean she talks pretty clear for a deaf person.

  • Even if fake, talking clear and being deaf isnt strange theres people that become deaf at a late part in their life.

  • :|

ahh.. To the people discussing the voice of this girl- obviously it was narrated..

    read the credits.. geez..

  • shes hot!

  • I have tourettes sound sets my tics off and people hear me from 3 blocks way away. I have actually used ear plugs to help me with my tics.

  • Should start a band too!

  • Very heart warming film, gives me, a whole new perspective on death people etc. Either way instead of feeling sorry for someone, you should try to help them as much as you can, and hope they can make it in life, just as well, if not better then your self. This really makes me want to get in touch with my other senses. I often use my eyes, ears, smell, but never really thought to use the others that often. Sweet a learning experience ! Thanks for the upload!

  • MMmmk and for your future's sake mate it's "Deaf" ;)

  • good story =)

  • man soo touchy ,,,hmm sweet

  • Nice story.

I just wish she could actually play guitar.

Or at least fake it a little better.

  • it looked alright to me

  • hahah i know this girl, shes breana and she goes to my school :S lol

  • So once we're gone...and there are only people around who never saw or heard us...did we exist?

    [er, pass the Prozac, please]

  • Very moving, good on ya!

  • Loneliness is graceful, No one can see you fall.

  • This is a really moving story. Well done!!

  • Why don't you idiots shut up, and enjoy the program. Fucking ignorant dip shits

  • is this a true story?

  • This is a staged fantasy. The actor is not deaf, or playing guitar (no one is; it's sequenced). The clip is a success in that everyone accepts it as real. Are you more gullible than you thought? There were no subtitles until people complained. Feeling kind is cheap, being kind is harder. Perceiving reality is more than a knee-jerk response to what you THINK you saw or heard.

  • Nice video.

  • Wow, this has a powerful message in the story. Pretty damn good for a fellow Australian, Im australian too, and dude you should like put this into like the Film Festival or a competition cause this would like probably hit Rank 1-5.

  • I wonder if this video would still give the same message if you turned sound off...

  • omg its just a video you dont need to criticize everything. this may not even be a real deaf girl - its a video! i think it has a strong message and thats all that matters.

  • i cried when i watched this video its so sad

  • Well this didn't make any sense.

If a tree falls down it sure makes a sound even if you are not there - just because the world isn't revolving around you.

Perhaps that was the message of the whole thing?!

  • hmm, this was the message of the film, that it does make a sound, but outside of the metaphor it doesn't make a sound. You'd have to think the world revolves around you to think it does. It's like saying it makes an image if you can't see it. Read other comments. The waves we turn into sound aren't designed to function like that.

  • You can define sound as HEARD or as CAPABLE OF BEING HEARD. That's entirely why there is no single answer.

  • Interesting thought. I'd say an image only exists when seen, not when capable of being seen, so in this pattern sound is only sound when it's heard.

  • In one way it is just facinating..

  • What a stupid video. Some chick trying to guilt trip people into likeing her crap. Funny how a 'deaf' girl can speak perfectly and manage audio editing.
