@elkixpin Well, when we learn about things from other countries, China, for example they are just labeled as "Chinese". Even though there are many ethnic groups in China, we in the US are not aware of those differences nor do we usually care. As far as an international audience is concerned it is an American subculture because it originating in the United States.
