  • This is a lesson video, not performance so what's the negative comparisons for. Of all books, to get started playing real flamenco his vol.2 is the best. After that I was ready to learn Sabicas and Paco de Lucia. By the way I bought one of his live records and he's a very good composer as well as performer.

  • Three cheers for Juan!! Best teacher on the net.

  • he is one of the best Teachers , yes not the Greatest as a musician like Paco or whom ever , but he is better in Teaching .. every one has his thing ....

  • His teaching method is fabulous! The best!

  • He is the best

  • Paco De Lucia , Tomatito , and every other profissional flamenco players say that Juan Martin is the best flamenco instructor in flamenco field so who the hell you are that give grade to some one who is the God of guitar , plz plz dont give any comment or any information about anything or any one to the people if you dont know

  • yea i wanna know his exact location please where does he live?

  • where does he live???? i wanna take live lessons please any ideas?

  • That's it, i'm hooked. Very helpful, thanks!

  • These lessons are great, very good explanation! thanks for sharing!!

  • Juan Martin is an important musician in bringing the study of flamenco prevalent throughout the world.

  • great lesson

  • My complements Juan. Excellent teaching technique.

  • So v good, + nice to c Juan enjoying himself (2nd half) - compas compas compas! (the 3 rules of flamenco?)

The best teachers are those who've had to learn (consciously) themselves. Those with the most natural talent or who grow up into a culture/skill are often not so good as teachers - because they have walked a different path, but with Juan one senses that he has walked the same path (maybe a lot further!).

Thank you Juan for caring enough to give those a long way behind a helping hand.

  • No one that I've seen has made it so easy to understand. Very well explained. And its free. i really appreciate it.

    thanks, Martin.

    Respect

  • Lo entendi, por fin. el 12 es 1.

  • masterful!! thank you for posting this

  • esta muy bien explicado

  • He is the best

  • Wasn't he a student of Paco De Lucia?

Might be wrong but im sure i read that somewhere.

  • Fantastic!!!

the last part of the last song is what i was looking for. thanks for sharing this video.

Those that wrongly judge Juan Martin i would like to see them play as he does.

  • por que en ingles??

  • yes U. S. rules in making shit all over the world

  • Some People call it trial and error. I prefer to call it trial and success. Of course, I don't expect you to understand what I mean.

  • i call that american stupidity.. and lack of culture and history

  • @branquitodemunze speek for yourself and listen... to him

  • he has a good sound but, asides from the material being a little simple, his rhythm isn't exactly there - in the pocket. far from a maestro. he knows what he's talking about most of the time but i do feel sorry for those who know him as one of the great flamenco guitarists.

  • comparing with Graf-Martinez dvd which is better instruction?

  • Graf 's dvd's are not bad but i found that the written music & tab jpeg that follow the music not to be in focus so this made it really difficult to follow easily.. You will then need to purchase a book that can be bought giving you the same lessons..

I think that Juan's lessons are good as they do cover all the basics and more + clear instructions on playing flamenco. But also buy Graf's computer metronome.( unless u can afford oscar herreros) Hope this helps

  • one think i found out were triplets and tremolos were difficult in the beginning and demands alot of precision by playing it slowly in the beginning so your hand muscles get use to the motions.

  • it depends on what you are studying .

    1) serranos basic flamenoc

    2)martines green book

    3)grafs book 1

    4) classical guitar fingering

those are the basics i would recommend.

  • excellent ! martin is the best.

  • what video is this?

  • Thanks for the upload man, I own the VHS of this but I hate having to dig thru my stuff to find it, this saves alot of trouble thanks agin.

  • thx I finally understand it!!!!!! now for practice!!!!!!! thx for this video

  • i've met Juan Martin twice when he visited Guernsey to play in concert. He is a marvelous guy and his teaching practices are to be taken up by anybody seriously wanting to learn flamenco.

He is the BEST TEACHER around the UK.

Hope to see u again Juan.

    Un abrazo tu amigo Paul

  • he is a good player - i suggest the green and red books are best for beginners not the video shown here which are more for seasoned /intermediate advanced players.

  • wasnt sure why you sent me the comments about the red and green book for beginners as i did say he was the best guitar teacher in the uk.

  • the above lesson when i started to play was a bit difficult for the beginniner . he has these other books including dvd that give a better lesson for people starting out. cant think of the title but the colors of the book is green and other red. green is for beginners.

  • @elmopablo I think Francisco Antonio is the best teacher of flamenco in the UK. Juan Martin is great, too.

  • thank you Maestro!

  • Hey what DVD/book is this from ? I want to buy it !!!

  • dude, your right that he is nothing compared to the masters you called. But he's playing does not suck man! He plays it simple but good. He is a good player so shut up

  • @Hucho lmao

  • @Hucho I agree, he's got some good duende going on, even if he doesnt compare to the greats...so what, hes a great teacher...

  • The best explanation about a most complicated palo flamenco, tks master.

  • Thank you Juan, I have been studying your books for several years, along with many others. I spent a little time in Spain, and learned quite a bit, however, your the BEST!!!

  • You are clueless! Before you go slandering people you need to know what your talking about.

  • Thank you Maestro very clear and kindly explianed. Muchas grazias y respecto!

  • Many thanks for posting this, Shaheen
