(as I kid, I remember my neighbor bought 1 identical to the movie, lol). Also, the Dodge Challenger from Vanishing Point (1971) & Toretto's '70 Dodge Charger from the Fast & the Furious were both freak'n awesome. The Dukes of Hazard "General Lee" is cool, & James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 is a beautiful car.

the movie car was all faked The supercharger was empty and the carburettor sat inside. A small water pump was attached to the front of the supercharger to hold the drive wheel, this also moved the supercharger belt forward to clear the standard 351 water pump assembly, and the distributor has a 90 degree elbow to allow it to clear the supercharger. The supercharger belt is driven by an electric motor which is hidden by a yellow bucket in the garage scene in mad max 1 and there was only 1 car
No electric motor was used to spin the belt. I've talked with Murray Smith who built the car for the movie. They simply added a longer belt over the idler pulley that was mounted to the swingarm when they needed it "ON". Whne you see the shot where it appears to be getting 'switched on' it's nothing more than the car being started. There was also NO 90 degree elbow on the dizzy. Not sure where you got your info from

There's always persistent rumours that a third was built, and the closest I've heard to verifying it was a replica builder in Perth named Gordon Hayes. Allegedly a third was to be built, were about halfway through it, and they changed their mind. He did a stunningly accurate replica that sits in a museum
@Mechknight73 they made one. which went throughout the whole first movie until it finished. they then sold it and it was driven around a bit to promote the movie. they bough it back for the second movie and built another one which was used for the chase sequences and the ending crash

The car seen here is now in a museum in Keswick, England.
It's the original one and is there with the original BTTF DeLorean, Monkeemobile, Batmobile, Stripey Tomato and lot's of others. Well worth a visit.

the movie car was all faked The supercharger was empty and the carburettor sat inside. A small water pump was attached to the front of the supercharger to hold the drive wheel, this also moved the supercharger belt forward to clear the standard 351 water pump assembly, and the distributor has a 90 degree elbow to allow it to clear the supercharger. The supercharger belt is driven by an electric motor which is hidden by a yellow bucket in the garage scene in mad max 1 and there was only 1 car

No electric motor was used to spin the belt. I've talked with Murray Smith who built the car for the movie. They simply added a longer belt over the idler pulley that was mounted to the swingarm when they needed it "ON". Whne you see the shot where it appears to be getting 'switched on' it's nothing more than the car being started. There was also NO 90 degree elbow on the dizzy. Not sure where you got your info from

@MegaAngel85 They built 2. One was a promotions car, the other is the one you see in the movie. There's always persistent rumours that a third was built, and the closest I've heard to verifying it was a replica builder in Perth named Gordon Hayes. Allegedly a third was to be built, were about halfway through it, and they changed their mind. He did a stunningly accurate replica that sits in a museum

@Mechknight73 they made one. which went throughout the whole first movie until it finished. they then sold it and it was driven around a bit to promote the movie. they bough it back for the second movie and built another one which was used for the chase sequences and the ending crash
