  • U know, this nightmare scene should be banned because of graphic in creepiness and disturbing, right?

  • @shadic74

    Amen

  • I would love that missions were as clear as this, but it takes time to learn to listen. Surely there are people who help in this quest since by yourself is very difficult.

  • @xz171 But if he hadn't God couldn't have used him. Sure, God could have gotten someone else, but then Moses would have missed out on a major blessing in saving his people. Not to mention the fact that if God hadn't saved him he never would have been in the palace in the first place, he would have died with all the other baby boys. It's not always easy to do what God wants us to do, but God always blesses us for obeying and doing what's right, even if those blessings aren't always obvious.

  • i just notice how amazing the pharaoh was able to walk through the dark corridors/temple

  • I WISH HE COULD HAVE STAYED A PRINCE SO HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A FOE HE LOVED HIS BROTHER MOTHER AND FATHER MORE

  • And now this is what Israel doing to the Palestinians

  • People should give kids more credit. This is scary. War is scary. But kids will learn about these things, including genocide. Children must be taught about these things so that when it comes to them, they may know their enemy, and what to do. And perhaps if they know cruelty, they will do better at avoiding it in their own actions.

  • @manxhedghog Wow, That was beautiful on so many levels.

  • love this movie, whether or not the events that took place according to religious historical texts really did or not.

  • You cropped this scene just right. I've watched this segment at least 30 times in the last two days. I can't get enough of it. Such incredible storytelling!

  • baby killer... literally

  • Yeah, NOT A KIDS MOVIE.

I remember falling asleep to the mosaic scene at a friends house, screaming my head off.

  • @atheist328 cool story bro you should tell that at parties

  • Actually, "The Prince Of Egypt," was taken in bits and pieces from the Qu'ran, the Torah and the Bible, yet there were all out of context.

  • @SonicSupremeSGT3 I don't know if i agree about "out of context".

  • Scary dream. :O

  • Miriam's song gives me chills every time!

  • Patrick Stewart, you sir are a dick in this movie.

  • 5:26-5:35 Pharoh: Sometimes for the greater good, sacrifices must be made.

Moses: You mean like you sacrificed the babies?!

Pharoh: You'll regret that. You don't seem to realize my situation here. I will not be stopped. Not by you, or the Hebrews, or anyone. I will RULE THIS SECTOR or see it BURN TO ASHES AROUND ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Yugiohlorie He had probably seen it many times before, but perhaps never cared because he was raised to think of Hebrews as animals (at least in this version, the Bible doesn't exactly say if he knew he was Hebrew or not growing up, though he might have since Pharoah's daughter allowed his mother to care for him until he grew up a little). He might not have cared or understood, until he realized he should have died with all the other male Hebrew babies.

  • Wish I could just this video and download it to my ipod.

  • I forgot exactly why they killed the newborns. Can someone explain to me again?

  • @XOKyraKexOX The Hebrews were led to Egypt because of the seven year famine. (They made a different movie "Joseph, King of Dreams" I think. The Egyptians were scared because of the Hebrews' huge population, and they thought that the newcomers would eventually overthrow the empire. To handle this, the Egyptians made the Hebrews their slaves. However, instead of dying off, like the Egyptians expected, the Hebrew population actually grew so large that the Egyptians had to kill all the babies. :(

  • @callmelimitbreaker Ouch.. O.e that's harsh, and sounds pretty selfish and cowardly..

  • @callmelimitbreaker Yes, you are correct. That was their conclusion and actions, according to holy texts (Talmut, which I'm sure I spelled wrong, Quaran, and Bible)

  • Damn We blacks back in Egypt were ruthless as shit back then. Guess we deserved to be enslaved in the Americas. That's what we get.

  • @SudanCarib I really hope you aren't serious. No one deserves to be enslaved. Those enslaved in the Americas weren't the same people who enslaved the Hebrews. It would be like torturing Germans today for what the Nazis did. Of course, this is just my opinion.

  • @SudanCarib Don't be ridiculous. The egyptians weren't blacks.

  • @SudanCarib No, these people who enslaved the jews deserved to be enslaved. Guilt is not passed down by skin color, you did nothing wrong and neither did your ancestors who were enslaved.

  • @SudanCarib Slavery was a part of life all throughout history, until abolished (england abolished it before America did). But it still goes on even in America, just not as openly. We don't want to admit it, so we hide it from ourselves.

  • America, and all over the world, slavery still goes on.

  • @SpikerVern In this movie, as amazing as it is, they left out so much of the original story. You learn a lot more if you actually look these stories up in the Bible instead of just watching the movies

  • @SpikerVern I enjoy watching these movies too, but there's so much they leave out, just like in any movie that was based off of a book. I read the entire a Bible a while back and discovered parts of stories that I had never heard of before. For example, you know Joseph in the old testament? He had a sister you don't usually hear about, mainly because her story isn't a happy one, but still. I never knew he had a sister until I actually read his story.

  • I just love these movies but this is my favourite it's alot better watching this than reading the bible

  • The music is outstanding

  • @hereforyourcookie Hanz Zimmer and Steven Schwartz :DDDD

  • Mural at 2:11 is based on an El-Amarna carving showing the heresy of Pharaoh Akhenaten who believed in one solar deity the Aten and tried to impose it on Egypt. By the time of Seti and Ramses every trace of that heresy had been expunged...so it wouldn't be on the palace wall. #historicalpedantry Love this movie!

  • I love when he goes "I'm a sovereign prince of Egypt"

  • I love the movie (aka: this) version because of him running and panting when he sings it - it makes it sound so much more desperate.

  • Why on earth didn't they stick the entire dream sequence in the soundtrack? We missed out on some quality Ofra singing. Sad. :(

  • One of my fave movies and this part always hits my heart hard!

  • I don't think the Egyptians would've shown something that graphic as throwing infants to crocodiles, enemies of war being killed and captured slaves yes, but not something as cruel as that!

  • At 2:10 the scene of young Moses and Ramses with Seti and Tuya is based of a relief of Akhenaten, Nefertiti, and their daughters! Pretty awesome isn't it?

  • I always though the dream scene was so cool. I LOVE how the animators of the movie did it! I've loved Ancient Egypt since childhood and would often imagine the tomb and temple paintings and reliefs acted out.

  • I love this song it's quite beautiful, but it makes me cry. One of my childhood memories is the mural coming to life, and when they throw the babies in the water it scared me and made me cry.

  • This frightened me when I was a child.

Now it just makes me want to cry...

  • I love how Moses reacts when Pharaoh says "Oh my son. They were only slaves." Most epic face ever

  • wow...this song is so creeping me this song is incredible

  • this creeped me out as a kiid, still gives me chills :/

  • This part makes me cryy still! :'''(

when i was little this mural part used to scare me. those POOR babies. even i knew what was happening then.

    pharoah you asshole!

  • It's amazing. I watched this CONSTANTLY when I was little and understood the gist of it, but then you watch it years later and it's so much more powerful. I'm always going to love it.

  • The dream he has always horrified me as a child. Still does in fact.

  • @shadic74 I respect your opinion that the bible is completely factual, but I am of the camp that believes the bible was written to instruct us on how to live our lives morally, not just to record history. In that view, stories like the story of Esther can be interpreted as parables, not as chronicles of factual events.

  • i totally agree, and honestly the Bible is one of the best sources of knowledge about the people. There are lots of books dedicated to kings, but there are even more dedicated to average people living through history.

  • @Bleachedredhair The entire Bible is true, not just most of it. The story Esther is not a fictional satire, it really happened. Everything written in the Bible is true because it was written by men who were told by God what to write.

  • @shadic74 But what does 'true' actually mean? Satan tempting Jesus by taking him up a mountain to show him all the kingdoms of the world? There's no mountain you can do that. It's an allegory, it's a metaphor for a different kind of experience the writers couldn't put into words, just like the Song of Songs is a metaphor for Christ and the church in a traditional interpretation. They're still true, just not literally true! The Bible has different genres, it's not all meant to be history.

  • @Enuzzle

Actually the Song of Songs is song about one of Solomon's wives and the stuff they do, if you catch my drift...

  • @RedDracolich I think it is actually about just one wife. His favorite one.

  • Yes, Egyptians allowed peoples living within their borders to assimilate, but Jews do not assimilate. They form ethnic areas withing cities and countries, do not adopt new gods, and (in ancient times) even speak a different language. The Egyptians did enslave the Hebrews because they did not assimilate and therefore presented a threat. Also FACT: The Bible is for the most part historically CORRECT!! (there are a couple books like the Book of Purim/Esther which are fictional satires)

  • @Bleachedredhair bible is historically correct?

    ok.

  • Fun fact: This is the exact opposite of how the Egyptians operated. They worked by giving people crops in exchange for labour rather than just enslaving them. That's why they ruled for as long as they did. They interweaved themselves with the cultures they conquered so that people wouldn't want to revolt. A great movie, but it does take a few liberties with history.

  • @rthompson39 I'm sure they had their handful of dictators as the Roman Empire had.

  • @TKillatheGanonFan Actually Ramesses II was the most beloved Pharaoh of them all.

  • @rthompson39 Maybe true, but does that mean he was incapable of evil. Sometimes the best of leaders make horrible decisions. Consider America, it has done good and yet in the same sentence of time, among leaders of virtue, it has supported slavery and the abuse of indians. We should never define a time through civilizations, but through the people. What do you think?

  • @rthompson39 Actually, you're right for the most part but they did enslave the jews. The jews were full citizens for a long time until the pharaoh saw their population growing and feared they would take over, so he enslaved them.

  • 2:52 scared the crap out of me back then

  • How did they animated the nightmare sequence? Did they use a stop motion technique and just draw like hieroglyphics? Or was it all done on computers?

  • this scene is so deep. it really means so much spiritually and literally

    moses went through a lot..

  • they were only slaves.

that part affects me so much

  • @zlkimagenX i will play this on flute stay tune

  • I can't tell u how many times I've had dreams that leave me panting like he is... like I've been running from something very scary... worst feeling ever... :P

  • 4:16 - the first very powerful shot. Moses could have been one of those babies falling to their deaths.

5:55 - second powerful shot. When Moses is getting a hug from the Pharoah and when he says "They were only slaves", he realises that Pharoah would've wanted Moses dead if he hadn't been rescued and adopted into the Egyptian family.

  • If it was true, how can you live with murdering innocent babies on your conscience when you've got children yourself (both of them being the same age as the ones that were murdered)?

  • @SJMJ91

Well it wasn't true ...so it doesn't matter, it's just a fictional story.

  • @TheTimeforwar As I said, "IF it was true"!

  • How ironic: Moses and Jesus (the most common stories of the Bible) were born in a time where babies the same age as them had to be killed but they both survived.

  • im a kid and i cant get enough !!!

  • seen it so many times I know all of it

  • Seen it like 1,000 times!!!

  • When I watched this movie as a child, I always fast forwarded past this part.

  • @severalshirts when i was a kid i always watched this part then would rewind and watch it again and watch it 4 of 5 time before caring on with he rest of the film

  • @atheist382 yup

  • I sing when I'm out of breath, too.

  • WHY IS THE DREAM SEQUENCE NOT ON THE SOUNDTRACK!!!??? =(

  • As a kid I always wondered how he never saw that mural in all the years he lived in the palace

  • @Yugiohlorie It had nothing to do with him, to him it was just a drawing.

  • @Yugiohlorie He probably just realized what the mural really meant after he found out that he was born a hebrew.

  • @Riku7070 Also, its a BIG Palace

  • @Yugiohlorie i know right?

  • @Yugiohlorie He probably saw it but didn't recognize the significance until the dream.

  • @Yugiohlorie He probably saw it but didn't recognize the significance until the dream.

  • @Yugiohlorie because he was a prince and they don't exactly go wandering about the slums of the kingdom? and she's probably seen him a lot, just never said anything until they were alone, like now.

  • @Yugiohlorie he was never looking for it, so he never really noticed it. He says something about that about this with the slaves too

  • @Yugiohlorie he probably did. maybe that's why he has the dream about it first and then runs to exactly where they were. Like he didn't think about it until now!

  • @Yugiohlorie He was too busy causing mischief and breaking shit. lol

  • @Yugiohlorie Maybe he did but it was, you know, one of these things we never pay much attention to until something makes us stop and think about it, which in his case was the connection of the story carved in said wall to himself when Moses realized of the possibility of being a hebrew's child.

  • @Yugiohlorie sometimes we don't notice things infront of us until somebody points them out to us.

  • That kind of creeped me out

  • he's voice is so dreamy

  • Man, all that gold Mozes is wearing. He looks like a backstreet ghetto rapper.

  • AHHH CHILDHOOD!! I had no idea I knew the words to all the songs....:)

  • @Sunnyboy0294 sames!! I surpirised myself!!

  • But why did they need to kill the children?

  • @CobbleStoneist to basically intimidate the hebrews into not rebelling...'we can take your kids away. we can take you away too.'

  • @worldemperor85 Oh ok, I thought it had something to do with killing off all the first born males but I just got confused. I went to a church thing (my God is my own God not theirs) and I asked them "They said slay a lamb and put the blood around the door or the first born son would be killed, so if the person had no sons and only a daughter and did not put the blood up would they be killed?" Took them a while to tell me that no they wouldn't be killed. Is this true?

  • @CobbleStoneist well i dont really know...i'm not christian myself, aha xD i'm just guessing that's what they did to intimidate them. well if its all kids, its what i said before. if its just first born sons, i assume its to keep the next generation from getting any bad ideas, cuz they have half the men gone..

i've heard some stuff about a prophecy, idk tho. i'm probably not the best source, just speculating xD

  • @worldemperor85 Hahaha, yeah that is ok, I don't really understand half the stuff but I get some of the Jesus thing. But yeah when I went to the church I asked cause I am an only female child, so I didnt have anyone else to worry about (if I had a little brother I sure as hell would have do it lol) but yeah they said that I wouldn't be killed.

  • @CobbleStoneist They killed the children because pharaoh got scared that the israelites might make an army and kill them and take over egypt. so he had to decrease their population.

  • very ironic :) seeing as he sung about how magnificent his princely life seemed and the beauty of his "earthly" home...but oh how it doesn't even compare to the real kingdom that awaited him in the end..:)

  • Who plays the voice of Moses?

  • @1stDaygra val kilmer

  • ; A ; Thats fucked up.....

  • dude, this movie has fallen into obscurity. it's so good, though. always will be. when i was little and watched this film, it became my favorite very quickly. in fact, i became so interested in egypt that i studied it thoroughly and by the time i was in 3rd grade i knew more about egypt than my teachers did. most kids were like, 'i want to be a doctor or a fireman or a nurse!' i was like, 'heck no, i wanna be an egyptologist!'

  • When I was younger, I liked this movie... but also feared it. I always thought that the hawks were trying to comfort him before the dream started. A pit formed in my stomach when he closed his eyes. 'Something's going to happen. Something bad.' I thought to myself. *sobs*

And I was right. I wanted to hug him... And I still do.

  • dude that's patrick stewart!

  • Loved this movie sooo much! I watched it with group of guy friends and half of the 'macho' guys were in tears! Love this song!

  • Was reduced to tears by the dream sequence, damn I love this film.

  • The song that Mariam is singing at the begining was the song I always sang to Calob, even though I doubt he even heard me. It's my special song for him, and I will never sing that song for any other fosterbaby, not even his twin brother. I miss you Calob.

  • This song is way too short but its still my favorite

  • this song still sends chills up my spine XD

  • this was the scene i remember the most from watching this movie many times as a kid! i never knew why i remembered it the most, and still dont to this day. maybe it was because of the change in animation style, the telling of all the firstborns being killed, ill never know why i remember this scene the most, but one things for sure: this is definetley one of the most underrated movies of all time, let alone religious movie or even disney musical!

  • Such a good but creepy moment when his father hugs him... the music makes it even better... BEST MOVIE EVERRR

  • How is he just noticing the mural for the first time? Did he see it before and is just now really noticing it? Or did he just not care?

  • @wiseguy1108 i think it's because he never took a strong, deep look into what it really meant, and since he just found out that he was a Hebrew, the mural suddenly means so much more to him than it ever would have before he found this out.

  • @blondmop92 Oh ok. Thank you

  • @wiseguy1108 ive always wondered that myself too

  • why of all the things they could document, they document Seti ordering the slaughter?

  • @woohoo4576 It was the Egyptians deciding what to document or not, and they were proud of their ability to "keep the Hebrews in their place" by killing their sons. It was sort of a patriotic act, to them. Besides, they have time and space to carve out pretty much their entire history of royalty, and it was a significant event, so they ought to remember it.

  • oh my god this scene was terrifying when i was little! and i have to admit, i still get really creeped out watching it

  • how can i express how this is the best movie ever made?

  • why would he make a mural to commemorate the genocide? becasue he was so proud?

  • @motherducker1313 I think it's just to show the history of his decisions. I believe Egyptians made murals of both events they were proud and shameful of(not that I'm sure Seti was either of those). I'm not too sure though.

  • being not Disney, i love how this movie made an epic soundtrack and excellent cartoon movie

  • terrified of the dream sequence when i was a kid, just watched this video and cant get to sleep now even though im really tierd thanx a bunch

btw im 10 years older than i was then, some things never change

  • Haven't the Jewsin this world suffered enough already?

  • Guys ur all wrong, The pharoah heard from a phsycic (sp?) that a jewish baby would one day defeat him, the pharoah (out of fear) orderd that every jewish baby be killed to stop this from happining, Moses was the baby that the phsycic was talking about, he lived, so he defeated the pharoah (remesis)

  • @1Animechic1

They weren't Jews, this religion didn't exist back then. They were Hebrews..

But other than that, you're right :)

  • @ShayTr08 lol same thing xDD

  • wow the music is so cool! it's chilling when he realises he is hebrew as well!

  • BIOSHOCK GOALS FOR MOSES

New Goal: Follow the Mysterious Woman and Children

Goal Completed: Follow the Mysterious Woman and Children

    New Goal: Escape Father"s Guards!!

  • Gotta love terrifying nightmare sequences.

  • watching this in my hebrew scriptures class, and i love it!

  • this scene always gives me chills

  • "they were only slaves" OMG i can't believe how racist he is :(

  • @simpsonfanter97 nah its not really racist his son is jewish aswell, he's more referring to a lower social class (i'm not trying to say it isnt bad, but just saying that he isnt racist)

  • @simpsonfanter97 It's how he somehow seems like a realistic villain in this movie; no matter how good he is to his kids, you simply can't get past the "baby-killing racist" part. The fact that he's both at the same time makes it even more rattling.

  • "For The Greater Good" ? what the hell? how is killing babies EVER for the greater good?!

  • @1992csl The jews were growing in number and the Pharaoh feared that they might outnumber the egyptians and start a rebellian so they killed lots of children as some sort of brutal birth control.

  • @jou00jou

oh i know that. its just so awful. its just sick.

  • @1992csl it was because the king of egypt wanted a stronger army, so he forced his men to kill all the baby boys so he won't have a compatition.... my opinion, he was loony in the HEAD!

  • @1992csl good question

  • Captain Picard doesn't care about the slaves

  • @wannabelegion OMG LOL

  • I am a Sovereign Prince of Egypt a son of a proud history that is still shown 3000 years later. Africans were T.I.A till the day we die.

  • amazing song.

  • i love the movie

  • MAN I remember how much this scene scared me as a kid. Love this movie, I gotta rewatch it!

  • @brainfreeze91 Scared you? Really? Interesting.
