@kupo19 I'm dealing with the same thing too, only I have Comcast.
I'm also very interested in the Rosslyn Chapel, too, and exploring the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. That looks like an interesting show!
lol, charter doesn't give a flying fuck about their customers, as long as their taking your money. I'm surprised to see them still around with all the negative feedback customers give them. O ya and I'm one of them. I fucking hate you charter. Hope someday someone takes you over. fuck you charter
Same thing here in Michigan. I've had a few new boxes and numerous techs out. I do greet them with a smile and am kind and it they still can't fix the problem. Really glad my wife signed us up for a three year contract............ GARBAGE
charter sucks dick!! EVERYTIME I'VE BOUGHT SERVICES, SWITCHED HOMES, ADDED INTERNET, IVE HAD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE SHIT FIXED OR GO TO THE MAIN OFFICE MYSELF, OR FIX THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN. I love their lies the best. "sorry sir, there's an outage" OK, when u think it'll be fixed? " sometime shortly" OK, what do u call shortly? " umm, 30 min" OK, u said that over 24hrs ago and still no cable, internet, tv.. "ummm" Ok, so you have no idea do you? "ummm, no?" thats what i thought
I live by the ocean and the wires out here are covered with salt. the wires are now gray instead of black and because of that our channels constantly go out (we've tried everything with them). even the phone company and PG&E change their wires every 4-5 years. they've even tried to convince charter to do the same, but of course they're stubborn as an ass and won't listen. and they say their customers are #1! yeah and i'm santa clause! someone ought to sue them for false advertising!!
Here's a thing with "digital" cable. It isn't all digital. Though many broadcasters are turning off their analog equippment altogether, some still send analog signal over cable. Even though it's coming through a "digital" receiver, the box is simply relaying the analog content to your display. Trust me on this. Don't believe it's all digital. Also, with digital cable - your signal can be impacted by weather, etc if it impacts the pedestals or the lines.
Not only does this go on off and on sometimes they switch channels on you, I have experienced the problem when I had charter went to dishnet and lastely direct tv. The problem for small town dwellers we have little choice of what cable company we have. I am happy with satellite tv and in the long run is cheaper. I am thinking about their telephone and internet service. Our town was in an area that was the last to receive their phone service and internet service.
judging from the you-tube vid, you're prob the type of customer we flat out just dont like...... thats probably your problem.... greet them with a smile, when you see them sweat, offer them water...or, have an attitude with them too, and if you were MY customer, that attitude will get you FAR from my best work...realize he is coming into YOUR house, treat him as you would any other guest, and you'll probably get your problem fixed! now, would you be interested in getting telephone service? haha
Hey you guys. get a life! I empathize with your anger and frustration but a you tube bitch! I am a charter customer and a friendly call has done wonders for my service. The customer service has always been friendly. I think it is how you make the call.
I never have problems with the internet altough I do get artifacts from time to time.
this happens to me all the time i cant turn to a couple of channels because stuff like this happens. the internet sucks too always crashing or not sending a wifi signal. why did we ever switch from direct tv... just shows that cheaper isnt always better
another reason to love youtube. if more people speak out about bad service then maybe the service will improve. i cant stand all the 'standard' answers they always give. nothing worse than an idiot talking to you like you're the idiot. hoping for more competition asap.
Its called "Tiling" and it could be from a lot of idfferent things. Too much signal or not enough are the most common issues here. But of course it HAS to be someone elses fault but your own. Theres just NO WAY you can have signal leakage or a bad cable line...right? OF COURSE NOT! HAHAHA
there is no way "I" can have signal leakage or a bad cable line... "I" don't own and operate a cable company. "I" supposedly pay a fee for someone else to 'supposedly' own and operate a cable company and know about signal leakage and good and bad cable lines. I pay the 'power company' to supply the AC and I supply the TV and the cashola once monthly for the service that they're supposed to supply.
Just to let you know.. I work for Charter and its easy enough to fix.... And any one of us would be more than happy to help you... So just call... it helps alot more:) Just some friendly advice:)
WTF are you talking about? That is called overdrive.Too much signal.Channel 3 on the meter is around +18db to +24 db.You would know that if you just looked it up.
9 Months and no response if it was fixed and how or you moved to other provider ? ? ?
After 2 service techs, this would have been an escalated ticket with any other company and a crew of troubleshooters would have shown up if to correct problem.
Of course, we didn't see any other channels so this could have been a network issue with one channel.
hmm. im from the philippines and judging from my experience(tech supp for 2 years), Charter is one of THE best cable companies you guys have. I've been with Verizon (f*ck that), and Time Warner, Pipex (brits), and back to Charter. Offshore Call centers is where it's at as of the moment (wink wink ;)) and WE are not gonna be left behind. We might be pushy someimes for sales, but hey, we CAN offer you something you might be able to get there in the states so there. LISTEN TO US. WE ARE THERE 4 U.
digital signal is below -10db, or you have a low MER, or you have BER problems. Noise on the line so the box doesn't talk back to server. Transmit levels are to high. CALL THE CABLE MAN!!!!!
Without seeing signal readings at the tap and ground locations I can't say for sure but it could also be quanity of tv's in home, home/apt wiring is ancient and un-replacable without major work and expense. Try figuring out wear the problem lies.
tell the tech next time to actually change your cables. the drop is probly bad feeding fromthe tap to the house, and your cable feeding from the splitter to the digital box
That is digital tiling. It is caused by lack of RF signal. Either the line needs to be replaced or needs to be placed on a smaller splitter. Also any store bought jumpers in use can cause it. Have a technician check the signal on the low band and on the high band.
There looks to be a problem with the modulation error ratio or (MER) on the coax in your house if the MER drops under 30dbB then this problem will show up. could be a loose or bad connector on the back of the box or something else all the way out on the main line, it could also be a bad digital set top box but that s very rare. I would set up a service call.
The only thing you have to do in those cases is unplug your cable box from the power outlet for 30 seconds, then plug it back in, if that didn't work the rep will send a "hit" that is a signal, and it's done, won't take you more than 3 minutes.
I had Directv and nothing but problems, Stay with cable. At least they have someone local that can come out and fix it. I got tired of having to call the satellite people, you wait aboout 30 minutes and then get put on hold again. This same thing with the tv can and does happen with satellite too.
i've found the best thing to do is find the local office, if you go in there you can talk to an actual human being and they will gladly set up an appointment to have a guy come fix it. just try to be calm and polite cuz i've seen them call the cops on people who go in there and scream lol
Wow. My picture rarely goes out with Charter Digital and when it does its just a quick few seconds of choppyness then it goes back to normal but this rarely happens...
digital tiling is generaly caused by low rf to your box. Instead of bashing charter, you should just give them a call and they will gladly send a qualified tech to identify and fix your problem.
I work for Charter and wonder if there is anything I can do to help you. I live in Washington State but you can call me at 509-222-2600. I work in public access and produce local programs here in Kennewick. Sorry for the poor signal but let's get it fixed.
I work for DirecTV, and OnDemand and internet are the only things keeping me with cable.
OnDemand is coming to DirecTV soon, but I don't know if it's going to be as fully fleshed out as cable has it. They're also working on setting customers up with Wi-fi internet service, but only have it in three areas so far.
Sending a signal is so basic, I'm surprised they can't get a tech out there to look at this. :-(
Im a service tech and one thing that I hate is people blaming that the box is bad, that is usaully the last thing check the fittings first then signal ect.
Only if it isn't installed right. If you've got a good line of sight and sturdy installation, the dish actually holds up pretty well. From my experience (and I have cable,) cable suffers about as bad through storms.
maybe its your 1990 old ass tv hahahahaha

DirecTV now has on demand. Ditch Charter
joshthebum 3 years ago
I dont work for Charter but for another cable company. This reply is for people who read in the future.
Ideas:
Cable splitter? Do you have one? Ditch the splitter. Mentioned already.
Cable box-obviously mentioned.
Bad internal wiring-i assume has been ckd
Drop-line outside to tap
Location-Close to radio tower or end of run? if end of run, cable co needs amp to boost RF sig.
A big misconception, its not cable company, its just your house. Everyone doesnt have that problem.
