  • The song was NOT written for "blue babies". The song was written by Tommy Lindsay as an apology to his mother for all the heartache he caused her as a teenager. He went into the army and got his act together. But by the time he got back to Hawaii, before he could sing the song for his mother she died. For years he refused to perform the song. He finally recorded the song on condition that it would not leave Hawaii until after he died.

  • @ohiopadre @ohiopadre Oh Gosh I can feel the agression in your writings. Please note I wrote "I THINK" and then maybe they must of used it here (in NZ or wherever) to promote cot death or something. Anyway I have had comments from the Grandaughter of the real songwriter Lessie Lyle. Google Lessie Lyle Blue Darling.

I'm sorry for the wrong that I have done

My heart would break if ever I should lose you

Blue darling, you're the lone and only one

I was a fool, broke every rule, blue darling

Saw the tears that took the place of your sweet smile

So please, please, please forgive me

Im sorry for the wrong that I have done

My heart would break if ever I should lose you

Blue darling, you're the lone and only one
