Good afternoon MacAdvisor,

Is it possible to turn off a notification so that my messages won't appear on my main screen? If so how?

@indipooh1981 Sure, if you go into Settings > Notifications > Messages you should get the option to change your notification preferences and turn of messages in the lock screen.

@TheBillspills It's possible that you could have MMS turned off, in which case it won't show. If you go into Settings > Messages, you should get the option to turn on MMS messaging. If you turn it on and it still doesn't work then go to Settings > General > Network and make sure Cellular Data is turned on. If still no luck then go into Cellular Data Network (underneath Cellular Data) and make sure the settings are filled in for MMS, you may need to contact your carrier.

Hello and I have question!! When your in text messaging and your texting someone when the reply to your message does the iPhone still make only that little whoop sound? Or did they change it? Because I use to hate that,, I would text my friend and he would text me bak but I set the phone down and when he hits me bak I wouldn't know cuz it just goes whoop lol,,but I do know that if intext him then hit the home button then I'll hear a louder ring!! So did they change that?

@littleshooterone You still get the whoop sound if your in Messages when someone replies, if your elsewhere in the phone or it's in sleep mode then you will get the proper text tone. I found this annoying lately, it's never really been a problem in the past, but with iMessage I've been sending a lot of messages over the last couple of days and missed some of the replies because of this issue.

@RONDOC68 You can send the link to the video, but you can't actually capture the video or download it and then send it to another phone. There may be an App or an unofficial way of doing this though.

@RONDOC68 To email a link just tap the envelope icon that appears on screen. If you want to download via an App there is one called MiTube which lets you download the video to your iPhone, presumably you can then send this in an email or MMS message. This would use a lot of bandwidth depending on the size of the video both for the download and sending, so it's not generally recommended unless you have a large or unlimited data plan.

I noticed IPhone settings are centralized. My question: when you install an app in an IPhone, does the settings for that appear in the settings??

@mnj331 I'm not aware of any, there are some social networking apps that do that, but I don't know if they integrate with the Messages App or if there are any specific Messaging Apps that allow you to do that.

@jerrycito0 Hi, there are a few solutions. Firstly make sure Cellular Data is on by going to Settings/General/Network, if you still can't turn MMS on then check your carrier settings. You can do this by going to Cellular Data Network (directly under the Cellular Data setting above). If there are no settings displayed in here under MMS then contact your network provider and they should be able to sort it out for you. If you've done all that and still having problems then let me know.

@wiimiifan2010 Hi, I guess that's down to personal preference and depending on signal in your area. I'm with O2 at the moment because they were the only network to have the iPhone, but might change network in the near future as I can't 3G at home and work with O2 which isn't a major issue but something that needs sorting. It might be an idea to check on the network's websites for their tariffs and to see what the mobile internet signal is like in your area.

Thank you very much! This was very helpful to me. I own this phone and always have trouble reading and writing text messages when I don't have my glasses with me, which is 75% of the time, lol. I followed along with you and made the changes and now I can "enjoy" texting.
