Oh man, you think THATS lame?! I live in the UK and underground rock scenes are basically non-existent here oh and you get called weird if you're a rocker...
If you're living in Oly today, and think it's lame, you really don't know what you missed. Don't worry, though -- there's enough DIY ethic left that I'm sure the place will be jumpin' again soon.
@madhatte73 i agree i live in Oly (actually right next to the college in the same small dirty apt complex that Ted Bundy lived in when he was around :[ ) and im in a few bands and we totally support DIY ethic and so do all our friends.
I was at this party! 2 bucks at the door covered your cup and kept you from being shunned at the keg. I'm pretty sure I was at the 2/26/89 party as well. The TESC dorms were hoppin' back in the day. Sage had the Yellow Ramp parked up in the covered sports arena right nearby. We'd skate all day then go see who was playing. I remember missing AMQA because Wade dislocated his elbow nailing a blunt on the ramp, and spending the rest of the night waiting around at the hospital. RIP old Oly.
i go to evergreen now and the only place we can have shows without paperwork is in the HCC, and the acoustic are gawd awful, i should know my band has played there several times ourselves.
Damn. Back in the day it was a free-for-all -- not just at Evergreen but all over town. You couldn't walk anywhere at night and not hear music in three directions. Of course, the cops got their cut, too, in the form of busting touring bands for drinking in the alley behind the Capitol Theater before shows. I don't know how many bands I've seen hauled off only to return just in time to play but not after paying their bail. 87-92 were Oly's Golden Years.
Fuck this sounds horrible, I love it!

Hey here's a shout out for a good early Nirvana show: 3/19/88. Some songs like Hairspray Queen actually sounded good in that show.

hey this show is pretty good, its just cause they are playing a full step down it sounds wierd

I'm not saying that this show is bad, I'm just saying 3/19/88 is one of their best pre-bleach era shows. Check out Dave Foster's drumming in it.

Listened to "School" yet? It makes them sound like a heavy metal band.
