@ShadowNinjaX3 weakest execution, best design. Depth to it that you only see after a several dozen hours. Of course, it is also half finished and the US release was half of that. Perhaps the remake fixed a lot of the minor flaws, I'll have to get it whenever I get a PSP or compatible system.
to be honest, VHS is still my favourite quick-record format, and I'm sad that none of my VCRs work anymore, but not so sad that I'll go out and buy a pro deck that uses metal for parts, rather than plastic and chewing gum.
VHS tapes last 2-6 hours, and are quite durable... optical discs like DVDs aren't as durable, esp. since they have no caddies, but also, they tend to decay over time due to the organic dyes in use.
On the other hand, digital recording is totally awesome XD
Yeah, and, this vid is really low quality because I recorded to VHS first, then used a lower quality video capture process that I do in my recent vids.
In any case, as you say, youplay an RPG not for the graphics... but perhaps Final Fantasy X and such have spoilt people into thinking an RPG is supposed to be a lot of pretty graphics.
Nah, ur not a loser, a lot of people agree with you, just look at the sales figures.
I think it could have been a lot more interesting if it did have more gameplay, or more optional side-things to do, like how in most RPGs you can go level up in the wilderness fairly quickly but in FFX it seems to depend on the airship (I didn't play that far)...
But the fact that Pokemon and other low-graphics stuff sells well shows that they're not essential, the pretty graphics....
Indeed, Atlus JP must have published the "getting Chris" secret info; I don't see how someone could have figured that out on their own... that's just incredible!
heh, its so easy to get lost in that site. You go in looking for one trope, then you find another, then another, next thing you know you're editing pages...
Generally, You have the option of fighting with up to 5 people, including the main character(mc).
However, for THIS boss fight, IF you make a certain choice, then three of your characters are petrified (turned to stone), leaving only Mary and the mc.
This choice helps you to get the "good sebec" ending, so even though the battle might be harder, it is worth doing it.
Ihaven't played p4, but the general opinion is that it is much better than p3 or even p3:fes both parts.
Although p3 is considered better, I view P1 and p2:IS as better games, so far... p3 starts off way too slow and has too much boring grinding for my likes.
just my opinion ... but i also liked p1 better. i like the series but i don't even really want to play the new ones anymore because of how "cartoonish" they went with it ... the early ones are still anime but they were going for a little more realistic art style.
i don't appreciate persona 3 and 4 also. i dunno if i can deal with that battle theme for a whole 30+ hours too. and to be honest i just don't like how the characters look also.
Yes, I like the art and music style from P1 better as well, but I suppose they now target more the "mainstream LCD" than the "hardcore fan" crowd... I like the newer games as well, but more for the abundance of choices than for the style, the style in P3 is a bit lacking, maybe P3FES makes up for it, I'll see when I get there....
I hate Persona 3 and 4, and I ESPECIALLY HATE how Atlus fucked up the PSP remake to this game! they should've kept EVERYTHING ORIGINAL but they want to cater to the crappy-ass MAINSTREAM CROWD.
Yes, I have played Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2 translated into English. I would like to play the original Devil Summoner that was released for the PS1 and Soul Hackers, but the games are both in Japanese and they have not been translated yet.
Yeah, I have Soul Hackers.... now that I think about it, I don't have Devil Summoner, but since as you said, they're both in Japanese, it doesn't matter much anyhow.
However, there's a (slow and mostly on hold) fan-translation going on, although I don't expect them to finish until several years from now.
I see. Well, I wish them luck on that. I want to try to figure out how I can get the English translated Shin Megami Tensei 1, Shin Megami Tensei II, from the SNES , as well as the 2 Playstation Personas, this one and Persona II Eternal Punishment onto my PSP, however, I don't know how to put games onto my PSP.
I don't even have a PSP, so I can't help you there... but they are websites for that, I guess.... I onve read up on how to do homebrew games for the PS1 but I didn't bother with it.
You forgot Persona 2: Innocent Sin, by the way... that's fan-translated and out, although I have yet to play much of it.
Oh that's right! I forgot about that one! I think it was interesting that Atlus Co. Ltd. decided to make Adolf Hitler the final boss in that Persona, but that WAS the cause as to why Atlus USA, Inc. NEVER RELEASED the game to U.S. in 1999 because they were afraid that the ESRB, our government and a lot of Americans will be offended. I am SICK and TIRED of the Japanese keeping all the GOOD games to themselves, as well as ALL of the RPG's made on various systems over the years!
Well, nobody at Atlus USA now was around back in Innocent Sin days, but, anyhow, if it bothers you so much, you should form a localization company and bring over more games.
For example. Atlus USA and the (now-defunct) company Working Designs were just a few people who decided to import, translate, and sell those Japanese games... Atlus USA now published much more than just Atlus (Japan)'s stuff... you could do that too.
I guess I could do that! There is just one more problem conscerning me and Atlus- They only make a limited number of copies for a certain game. Take Ogre Battle on the PS1 for example. Atlus made a limited amount of that game for the Playstation. They even made limited amounts of the Persona and Persona 2 discs for Playstation, making them hard to find.
@FirestormSurtr Exactly, dude. We are ignorant and we love to censor everything out, plus OUR games suck. That is why I HAVE NO FAITH in American and NON-JAPANESE game developers anymore.
That's easy, go to the elevator enter B4 and move to the fallen path. If there is a two way of fallen path, first take the Right, second take the Left, and the Third must be Right. While is there a room enter and don't take the stairs or you will go start over again...
I've played P2:Eternal Punishment, but I haven't finished it. Since it's a sequel to P2:Innocent Sin/Tsumi, I might replay it if/when the fantrans of IS/Tsumi comes out.
No, asside from Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, they're mostly un-related to each other. Innocent Sin was only recently fan-translated (i.e. Atlus never officially brought it to English), so most people played EP without knowing about IS at all.
Persona 4 is set 10 years after P3, and in a different place and whatnot, so you won't lose out by playing it before P3 or FES. I hear P4 is a better game than P3, also.
Fighting her with just Mary was freaking hard. I died and had to tell her that her paiting was better than Mary's. :/
Is she suppose to be that hard or was I just not leveled high enough? It's been a while, so I don't remember what lv I was. I do know that I was stuck in the Black Market forever.
I'm told that I over-levelled... the reason why I told her that her painting was bad is because you have to do that to get the "good ending", the game ends a lot earlier if you chose the other option.
Ha ha, I loved playing this game when I was younger, it was a shit ton of fun, and it was very unique. Plus, the soundtrack rocks the house, the boss battle music suits the mood dead on.
I can only hope they remake this game for the PSP sometime with revamped graphics, and the snow queen quest added, but keep everything else in tact, including the original soundtrack.
I'm actually thinking it would be easier to do my own game than wait and hope on a remake. Yeah, ti's true that making games is hard but I think being bored is harder... and besides, around the time this game came out, I had a strong interest and thought that's where I'd like my career to go...
Ha ha, I felt the same way, I would've loved to have remade some of the games I played when I was younger, if you feel you can do an awesome remake, then of course, I wish you all the luck in the world. You'll have to let us see the final product when you're done. :)
Meeeh... I thought this was the weakest of the series.
But great nonetheless.

omfg this one sucked!!
Wow number 3 is like the best!!!
They SCREWED IT UP for number 4, the way they summon them is gay, and really really weak looking. lol stupid cards...
Zigzuggrunt 2 years ago
Kool, you prefer the self-heat-shooting to the other way?
I haven't played P4 yet but I'll voice my opinion when I get that experience....
I like P1 though: negotiations rule! I'd probally like SMT: Nocturne as well.
bajan13k 2 years ago
I meant to say "you prefer that people shoot themselves in the head"?
Because I find that rather disturbing, even now after playing P3 for over 100 hours.
bajan13k 2 years ago
I actually prefer the summons in P1 to P3. Also, they are a variety of attacks like SweetTrap, which make things more interesting.
It's just that the battle engine is a bit too slow and quirky, even for that time....

um, soreyao, that sorta sounds like spoilers for people who haven't played p3, p4, etc...
so, shhhhh... don't tell anyone ;)
