I loved Bauhaus and Love And Rockets, also Tones On Tail - i'm born in 1966. I also liked to listen to This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance - Who else made the same "expirience"?
@gralswacht Born slightly later here (1973) but I still experienced (and still do!) all the great bands from back then. And as you are from Germany, should I mention some great bands from your country or are you going to? Cheers!
Wow...got here expecting to find Double / Captain of her Heart from ebay auction but found this great TOT track I used to play on radio years ago !. And yes, all three projects are great plus individual projects of the Bauhaus members.
T.o.T's 'Album Pop' is on my Desert Island List because it is beautiful and a bit scary and completely unique. After the break-up of Bauhaus Daniel Ash wanted to create music that would sound 'otherworldly'.
@RainPoetry A view of love filtered through a barrier of unreality. Daniel Ash wrote all the lyrics for T.o.T. fueled on hash and used the altered consciousness to freeze moments in his mind. It's a love song describing intense highs, lows and frustrations.
@drogheda1966 Thanks. That's an interesting take. I love these lyrics - I'm a sucker for enigmatic, 'higher' or more poetic lyrics. And I didn't know abt the hash-fuelled songwriting. :)
Otra gran cancion de esta buenisima banda. No se por que no continuaron, eran realmente buenos. De las tres bandas de Daniel Ash esta es mi segunda favorita, la primera es Bauhaus.
great music from a time that was hoody free and it was all about the music and your individuality.... anyone out there know a Mick Driscol from cork city , he was in this band... seeking to reconnect
I had a "video"dream of this song years ago after a night of excess.I pictured a pride of lions with paws over their eyes infront of a dead carcass.
I always thought he was saying "lions always hid their eyes cause the killin's always been the easy way out.I just checked the lyrics pages,....shit i was a bit off.
yeah i thought the same thing! idk my first reaction was that it sounded like that cops song or whatever you know where the intro kinda sounds similar and then it goes "bad boys bad boys whatcha gonna do" . . . etc etc but yeah i could be completely wrong but that was my first reaction any way AWESOME song!
Ok. For some reason, I do prefer Tones on Tail over Bauhaus or Love and Rockets. Don't get me wrong, there. All awesome stuff. But the Tones have that "special" place.
@RogueRholm Same for me.. they were an ''in between'' transition that lasted only a glimp in time, and yet, they came up with stuffs totaly original and still today i keep coming back.
In the 1988 I had a painfull personal problem. I was disturbed and falled in depression. I remember this awesome song, and in that moment, I thinked there where lions ready to jump over me. Many years later, I understand that the lions, with all those agressive nature, where in me; the lions now are gone, but this song...
It's a still from the Love and Rockets video compilation The Haunted Fishtank.
Can't remember if it's from one of the Bubblemen vignettes between songs, or from a video proper.
I'd verify which one, but the DVD's in the kid's room, it's late, and he's nasty when awakened. Guess you'll have to pick up a copy for yourself--it's really good.
I know--I first heard one afternoon on an alternative music station, and I could have sworn that it was some obscure little psychedelic gem from the late '60's! I requested it late one cool summer night in the late '90's, which seemed like (and was) a perfect time to hear it. Marvelous, beautiful and spooky little gem!
weird back in the day you'd by a single like this and theres maybe 2 or 3 songs on it if your lucky..this one I remember I used to play this one over.. and over ... turn it over and play christian say's then back over again..some of the words are still stuck in my head like storage and as soon as I hear this... they come out.....shaped alot of my music..so different than bauhaus stuff.
I know what you mean, this is probably the best tones song, this and 'Go'. Better than love and rockets but they lost something after Bauhaus split. I miss those days.
My fav - out of Bauhaus, L&R, and solo projects. Glenn Campling was a roadie for Bauhaus & joined Daniel Ash after the break-up to make TOT. Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus) joined them on drums later. I think Daniel Ash left this project prematurely...they had a lot more to do! Thank you for posting!
Wow! What a memory! I discovered this gem which was from the flip side of "Go!" import 12". Awesome song! I listened to it like an ambient/lounge type of music. Very relaxing (for me) and this came out in the middle of the 80's! ;-)
TOT = I figure if you're going to make music for the devil, you may as well do it with some taste lol ..
