  • TOT = I figure if you're going to make music for the devil, you may as well do it with some taste lol ..

  • I loved Bauhaus and Love And Rockets, also Tones On Tail - i'm born in 1966. I also liked to listen to This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance - Who else made the same "expirience"?

    Please post!

    Nice geetings from Whoooopppaaaaaatal(Germany)

  • @gralswacht Born slightly later here (1973) but I still experienced (and still do!) all the great bands from back then. And as you are from Germany, should I mention some great bands from your country or are you going to? Cheers!

  • early ecstasy music, remember when it was legal?(or maybe just made illegal?)

  • Wow...got here expecting to find Double / Captain of her Heart from ebay auction but found this great TOT track I used to play on radio years ago !. And yes, all three projects are great plus individual projects of the Bauhaus members.

  • T.o.T's 'Album Pop' is on my Desert Island List because it is beautiful and a bit scary and completely unique. After the break-up of Bauhaus Daniel Ash wanted to create music that would sound 'otherworldly'.

  • this is one of the moodiest songs ever....my god how can ya not just LOVE this ? seriously !

  • unica y hermosa

  • IT is sad more Americans should know about this band. sadly My enitire couhtry is full of CRAP 8(

  • I'm so curious as to the meaning / significance of this song. If anyone has ideas, let me know...

  • @RainPoetry A view of love filtered through a barrier of unreality. Daniel Ash wrote all the lyrics for T.o.T. fueled on hash and used the altered consciousness to freeze moments in his mind. It's a love song describing intense highs, lows and frustrations.

  • @drogheda1966 Thanks. That's an interesting take. I love these lyrics - I'm a sucker for enigmatic, 'higher' or more poetic lyrics. And I didn't know abt the hash-fuelled songwriting. :)

  • nice!!tankx!!

  • Try BAN, FUNK IT, amazing new tune and video!!!

  • tankx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i saw them live. That was a show I'll never forget.

  • @astronwolf i wish...

  • Chillout, 1980s style.

  • nice mandolino by the way...

  • it's always been an easy way out

  • Simple sometimes is difficult but beautiful.

  • Does anyone have an idea what this song is about? Specifically the chorus about lions. I love the song...

  • Great song . . . but it really is somewhat of a ripoff of this old Pink Floyd (Syd) tune: youtube.com/watch?v=Slp3flAXXQc

  • timeless. I'm surprised it hasn't been covered yet by lamestream "rock"

  • bauhaus,love and rockets.tones on tail,peter murphy....good stuff..

  • Daniel ash is such a cutie!

  • Sacred song.

  • I can almost smell the clove cigarettes now...

  • Awesome.............

  • ahhh good music Bauhaus, love and rockets,Tones and tails, dalis car,

  • @TheBaxter1994 yes, but i never got into dalis car. perhaps i should give it another listen.

  • This was a surprise B0side for me when I bought the import 12:, RED vinyl, flip side of "Go!"

Awesome song. I still listen to this on my iPhone with LOUNGE section :-)

  • I loved this song when I was 18, I love it now and I am 41, and I am sure to still love it when I am 61- no doubt I will love it when I am 101 !

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • So atmospheric and timeless.

  • Otra gran cancion de esta buenisima banda. No se por que no continuaron, eran realmente buenos. De las tres bandas de Daniel Ash esta es mi segunda favorita, la primera es Bauhaus.

  • Jamiegwain,

Nope. Tones on Tail consisted of Daniel Ash, Glen Campling and Kevin Haskins. There was nobody named Mick Driscol in the band.

  • such a good song.

  • great music from a time that was hoody free and it was all about the music and your individuality.... anyone out there know a Mick Driscol from cork city , he was in this band... seeking to reconnect

  • i love this band and i lvoe daniel ash and love the tones on tails

bauhas was so great ax well

    lo ve rockets great too

this is when music was really good

does anyone know joy division and new order

  • @alansready You have to see the documentary joy division Xclnt !!

A track by New Order most people dont know Silent Face Cheers!

  • Unique album, incredible melodic waves still unmatched after more than 2 decades. I always get goose skin with that jewel from TOT

  • I had a "video"dream of this song years ago after a night of excess.I pictured a pride of lions with paws over their eyes infront of a dead carcass.

I always thought he was saying "lions always hid their eyes cause the killin's always been the easy way out.I just checked the lyrics pages,....shit i was a bit off.

    Incredibly soothing song

  • There were two of them, previolsy they had a band that was disbanded if i am right

  • It was Bauhaus which is also a almight awesome band.

  • Lions was always my fav TOT song...thank you!!!

  • This song is so relaxing :)

  • nice one.

  • the intro sounds really similar to another song but I can't put my finger on it. any ideas anyone?

  • yeah i thought the same thing! idk my first reaction was that it sounded like that cops song or whatever you know where the intro kinda sounds similar and then it goes "bad boys bad boys whatcha gonna do" . . . etc etc but yeah i could be completely wrong but that was my first reaction any way AWESOME song!

  • Foufounes Electrieques - Montreal! Always!

  • Ok. For some reason, I do prefer Tones on Tail over Bauhaus or Love and Rockets. Don't get me wrong, there. All awesome stuff. But the Tones have that "special" place.

  • @RogueRholm Same for me.. they were an ''in between'' transition that lasted only a glimp in time, and yet, they came up with stuffs totaly original and still today i keep coming back.

  • @RogueRholm they have alot of great tunes.im starting to feel the same way.very smooth, music and lyrics.damn good stuff!

  • @RogueRholm I'm with you. Tones on Tail was the best of the 3. Love them all tho.

  • @RogueRholm

    100% agreed.

  • In the 1988 I had a painfull personal problem. I was disturbed and falled in depression. I remember this awesome song, and in that moment, I thinked there where lions ready to jump over me. Many years later, I understand that the lions, with all those agressive nature, where in me; the lions now are gone, but this song...

  • Such a great comment. It's wonderful how a great song like this seems meant for you but at the same time can be so universal.

  • this song will always be with me.... I played it along with others from the original album as my wife was giving birth to my daughter... peace!

  • @ macxtc

Oddly enough, I used to listen to that specific album when my wife was pregnant :)

  • the fucking greatness this song is just fucking aswome!!!!!!

  • i love this song. Still got the vinyl somewhere..

  • i have the limited red vinyl EP they produced when the single was released. it will always remain a precious part of my collection..

  • Oh yea! I have that one. Red see through vinyl with "Go!" on the other side. Had that one for years!

  • same here. its one of my most priced. and it looks freekin sweet!

  • aaaa

i know what you are talking about...

I do think the same thing!!!

i've heard this before...like just the beginning

  • I cried alot with this song, but more with "Rain"

  • Oh my god, this song is excellent. Truly marvellous.

  • I fell in love with this song.

  • Where was the very first image on this video from?

  • The love and rockets website i think.

  • It's a still from the Love and Rockets video compilation The Haunted Fishtank.

Can't remember if it's from one of the Bubblemen vignettes between songs, or from a video proper.

I'd verify which one, but the DVD's in the kid's room, it's late, and he's nasty when awakened. Guess you'll have to pick up a copy for yourself--it's really good.

  • qué maravilla!

  • Ageless, in my mind. ...

    Thanks for posting.

  • northampton band. war, and theres only one are my favorites, pitty dany went to another planet, lindz<

  • A geat choon! Thnaks for your post!

  • soooooooooo love Tones on Tail :-) While their punk fuzz goth pop is great their ambient trippy stuff is sooooooooooooo excellent :-)

  • Still my favorite Tones tune, hands down. I can never get sick of this.

  • neither do I..I can't get bored of this song :)

  • I know--I first heard one afternoon on an alternative music station, and I could have sworn that it was some obscure little psychedelic gem from the late '60's! I requested it late one cool summer night in the late '90's, which seemed like (and was) a perfect time to hear it. Marvelous, beautiful and spooky little gem!

  • weird back in the day you'd by a single like this and theres maybe 2 or 3 songs on it if your lucky..this one I remember I used to play this one over.. and over ... turn it over and play christian say's then back over again..some of the words are still stuck in my head like storage and as soon as I hear this... they come out.....shaped alot of my music..so different than bauhaus stuff.

  • I know what you mean, this is probably the best tones song, this and 'Go'. Better than love and rockets but they lost something after Bauhaus split. I miss those days.

  • yes I agree with u

  • My fav - out of Bauhaus, L&R, and solo projects. Glenn Campling was a roadie for Bauhaus & joined Daniel Ash after the break-up to make TOT. Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus) joined them on drums later. I think Daniel Ash left this project prematurely...they had a lot more to do! Thank you for posting!

  • I killed this cassette after about a thousand listens. AND THEN was like "these guys are Love & Rockets?????!!!! - Holy Shit!!"

  • what a great LP I still have it in mint as I recall it went well with lsd.

  • so fuzzy.

  • uhhuh mmmmmmmmmmm

  • I love this song by them. So gothic and gloomy. W000000t. Never will music like this b repeated. Kudos to them for doing this. Love you guys~!!

  • after a couple of drinks I'll be straight....had there albums and ep's and what not.. this is really love n rockets with out david jay....

  • I respectfully disagree.

  • "Great song" sound Rock-101 Mexican Radio

Canción que suena vigente en nuestros tiempos.

  • One of the best of tones on tail

  • One of my favorite songs ever, got me into poetry, detailed music, Goth, etc.

Now if I could just go back in time when I was listening to all of this in 1987, such a wonderful era!

  • Wow I had not heard this in ages...Such a great ole tune..

    =^..^=

  • Brilliant. You could slip this into an ambient DJ set today

  • Love this song.

  • Tones on Tail - awesome... thanks so much, dude...

  • Great, Great, Great!

  • Great song and I love your tribute too!

  • Thxs a lot!!!

  • Wow! What a memory! I discovered this gem which was from the flip side of "Go!" import 12". Awesome song! I listened to it like an ambient/lounge type of music. Very relaxing (for me) and this came out in the middle of the 80's! ;-)

    Thanks for posting!!
