The Goofy Gophers are patterned after an early 20th-century comic strip called "Alphonse and Gaston" where the two characters were known for being excessively over-polite.
This is probably the most overtly camp and "together" that I've ever seen the gophers. Their physical interactions from 2:40 to 3:03 in particular suggest something quite a bit more than friendly, to my present day eyes at least.
