A remnant of the late Middle Ages. This kind of dance is called Basse Danse and was very common in the 15th & early 16th century. Other related examples are the "Jägerneuner" from Lower Saxony (but really also from Sweden!), and the best of all, "De Kegelaar" from Diest in Belgium - it has a direct tradition from a guild dance of the Hansa time !
