I just started learning (and actually don't have a proper ball of any kind yet, and won't until the end of the week, so I'm using an orange because another contact juggler suggested it), but I'm having *serious* struggles with doing any of this stuff left handed. I mean, it's a struggle with my right hand, since I'm learning, but if I try *anything* with my left hand, it results in my orange going flying. O_o
I've got it to where i can get it from the cradle to the palm but am having difficulty going back. I'm using a clear acrylic ball instead of a fushigi. Does that matter?
I am having problems with the ball continuing to roll from my cradle and onto the floor. How can I fix this? I am also using a baseball at the moment which is no bueno.
@skiddlecrumms the baseball shouldn't be too bad of a problem, but it isn't helping. Set a timer for 5 minutes and just practice holding the ball in the cradle and walking around with your fingers flexed. Try the "hand flip" version of the move which is more up and down instead of arching, then learn the wiper or butterfly variation. Keep it up, you aren't failing, you are learning what doesn't work.
@AmazingKennyT I have a Fushigi now. Everything I tried to do but couldn't with a baseball I could instantly do with the fushigi. I think that thing keeps me sane sometimes.
Looking for a starter ball, never done any sort of juggling before. I was wondering, I know you talk about it a lot, but would you recommend buying a fushigi for practice? Is it a good size/weight/balance? They're ridiculously cheap on Amazon, but will I learn well with one?
@chuddlewinks fushigiballs are fairly easy to get a hold of and can be used for all contact juggling tricks. Many performers will recommend a 100mm stage ball to start with. They are bigger (so easier to roll), soft (so they don't damage things), and durable. If you are looking to do multiball and are willing to take care of your props, go with fushigi or acrylics. (warning, some F-balls are off centered)
I'm 37 years old and wanting to learn to do contact juggling, but the first ball I got was a 100m ball and it just feels to big for my hands (ie my fingers look to far apart when trying to cradle..) my fingers are fairly thin and over all hands not tiny but the 100mm makes a 3 finger cradle put about an inch gap between each finger to hold the ball.. Thanks, Dave
@armisis You should be able to do these things with a 100mm ball. The first few practice sessions can be rough, but it was hard for all of us. Just pay attention to your body or by all means, try a smaller ball. I learned with Tennis balls and Racquetballs (which are highly NOT recommended) for the first 3 months of my contact juggling practice, so anything goes.
@Mefteck You made a great choice! Well, depending on the weight... I hope it is on the heavy side. Many CJers will recommend a 100mm ball as a good start for 1 ball contact juggling. If you intend to progress into palm-spinning, you'll have to eventually invest in multiple smaller spheres.
@AmazingKennyT my ball is about 700g. i have watched a lot of your videos, the hardest thing i have come across practicing is rolling the ball from the hand, back to the balance point on the inside of my arm (opposite side of elbow) any advice?
@thaisonnguyen81 Some of the best contact juggling artists out there agree that there is no such thing as "mastery" of this art, it just keeps getting more fun and challenging. It should take 10 hours of practice to feel confident with 10-20 moves and really feel like a contact juggler. That 10 hours can be in a day or in a month, it is up to you. The better learning materials you have (and the better you follow them) the more accomplished manipulator you will be.
@TheCookie1395 return to the basic steps, follow directions and go twice as slow as you think you should. If that doesn't work, we'll talk about specific problem solving for whatever is giving you difficulty.
@AmazingKennyT Its kind of working but I did break one of my nails haha. I have until 24th of Feb to actually be able to do something impressive with it.
While I was practicing this tonight my fingers flicked backwards instead of cradling the ball. Resulted in the ball flying down my arm and rolling about seven and three quarters a mile across the floor. The ball is fine, thankfully, but I have to wonder....Could I pass that off as a new trick? :0)
@AmazingKennyT So I suppose you are actually not supposed to grip the fushigi with your two fingers in the three finger hold? Are you just supposed to be able to control it with jus letting it sit there or you hold it in place with your two fingers?
@Eternitanime It rests in the track you create with your fingers. One of Michael Moschen's ideas of this type of manipulation is that the ball should NEVER be gripped. Modern Cjers don't adhere to this idea completely, but I believe that it is worth thinking about. You want the ball to appear to be in your control without being forced there. Gripping is allowed, but it is best to avoid.
@AmazingKennyT So are you telling me that all that you are doing, you do without squeezing the ball between your two fingers? How long exactly did it take for you to get to the level you are?
@tomvercruysse contact juggling skills are possible with ANY spherical object. Size and weight do make things easier or harder depending on the tricks. Try with a lacross ball $2. It is too small for body rolls and the isolations don't work because of the "tell" marks, but you can learn the basics.
i'm 13 and my hands are pretty small. my fingers can't go down enough and spread far enough. is this ball ment to be for me? should i get a smaller one.
@vikaswilllive I know 11 year olds that are doing awesome with Fushigi. If you hands are legitimately tiny, try fushigiball minis or other contact juggling spheres in the 2.5 or 2.75 inch range.
hey Kenny i would just like to know how good you have to be to be on the fushigi commercials. Can you just do palm spinning in the commercial to be on it or do you have to be able to do everything.
@AmazingKennyT Thanks kenny ive learned so much in just four days and mastered at but the arm stalls and chest rolls. other than those ive got them all down including the single ball isolation.
@gohanknowsbest I've taught it this way for years. I think that it gets the point across, catch it soft. I wrote the script so I don't have to be ashamed of it.

I have just got 2 fushigis for christmas and 1 got all the tricks up to this one and thats not alot. My grandma keeps yelling at me for dropping so much and she took them away from me for the rest of my visit
@simcity4rocks contact juggling is an established artform that has been kind of a niche community. This is a tool for an art. Hell, even equate it to a cheap yo-yo or a "how to do magic" set, but a "rip off" it is not.
Lol i got the fushigi ball as a present from my aunt for christmas, ive had it for 4 days and i can do some tricks. its fun but hard and when i drop it makes one of the loudest noises ive heard because of hard wood floors! I have some scuffs and marks in it i was wondering if its possible to get the scuffings out?
I'm trying to learn this, but im not sure exactly where to practice... I'm worried that im going to get my ball all dinged up. What kind of area should you practice on?
@twinsanddad It is "almost" the same thing. The butterfly makes a figure 8 motion, the "wiper" makes a rigid arc with the elbow as imobilized as possible. Many people and some performers dont recognize the difference, so I understand the confusion.
@321448 the billiard ball is slightly smaller and lighter than recommended, but yes, it is absolutely possible. In fact, I recommend them for learning palmspinning.
@123Wubzy ummm... the ball used in this video is not a fushigiball brand contact juggling ball. It is a hollow steel sphere. Contact jugglin can be done with balls of more than one brand. Sorry for the confusion girl.
@superkellerman8D I hold it in different places sometimes, everyone's body is different so I don't get too specific. I personally hold it on the middle finger, resting against the knuckles.
I just started practicing last night. My double-jointed fingers make the cradle quite simple for me since I can both lower the middle finger and still raise the tip to make a bowl shape =P I have been practicing with a baseball. If you use something that heavy, don't do it in your easychair with your laptop in your lap. There will be damage, expensive damage!
Amazing kenny! Hello sir my name is Tommy . T - Im 11 years old and you inspired me! I really want a fushigi ball soooooooooooooooo bad! GRRR... I have allways wanted to learn how to contact juggle But i just can not get it! Can you plz help me find a way to make a fushigi or something so i can try to do it beacuse i cant really afford one right now :(
Kenny, can you help, everytime I try this it just falls off my cradle or something I don't really get it I mean I'm good at most CJ things but not the crade/wiper stuff
@MTjedi420 this is actually REALLY good for your hands as long as you don't do it too much. I've done this so long that I have to perform for like 6 hours before I need to worry about it. Although multiball work (like 8) fatigues my hands fairly quickly.
hey amazing kenny because i cant afford a proper contact juggling ball as i am 14 i am using a hockey ball that has had the little holes worn out so it is smooth, would this be sufficiant i can do a squeeze up and stuff
Hay that part where you throw the ball up and catch it on the back of your hand, I been trying to do it and the times when I don’t drop the ball it just hurts!!!
@626fan82 Soft, learn to cushion its landing, move your hand down with it as it lands so that the impact is not as high, with practice, (try it with a softer object for a bit as well) you will get to be great at it! You need the same thing if you ever try to catch a juggling ball on your foot... it doesn't just land on its own and stay.
i found that holding the ball between my pointer and pinky finger is most comforable for me plus u have 3 fingers on bottem so its a little easier to catch
I have a quick question. I've been cursed with extremely tiny hands. The fushigi ball feels a little awkward. Would it be easier for me to learn with a slightly smaller ball, or would I only be making more work for myself? Or should I accept having freakishly small hands and leave contact juggling to the professionals? lol
hey kenny its christa, teta930, and as im practicing, which i am unable to do for a while due to school (8th grade) andother things (basketball) i can only get it from cradle to palm then back to cradle, but every time i try tokeep it going i drop it.... good thing i practice fushigi (cj) on my bed.....
AmazingKenny, Your DVD demonstrating the basics did not come with a case or jewel box, so I just put it in with my "Labyrinth" DVD. How fitting.
I have another genius idea for the clear sphere. You can do your illusions, pretend to get upset about something, then toss the sphere very hard against the wall. But, it won't be the clear sphere, it'll be a sandwich bag full of water!! Imagine their surprise when they see "the sphere" explode into water and turn into a wet, empty bag.
Hey, Kenny! As you know, I'm still green at this sphere, but I already created my own cool illusion!! I named it The Popcorn.
The Popcorn is when the ball is in the palm of the hand, shake the ball giving it an appearence that it's popping up and down rapidly, and it ozzes smoothly to the fingertips appearing as though it popped and rose out of the hand. Too Cool!!
hey amazingkenny i got my fushigi yesterday it is a 3" and i cant do wiper i can put it in the cradle and transfer it to the palm but not back i drop it and if i watch the dvd an hour a day for a week practicing wiper do you think ill have it...i cant bounce it on the back of my hand in cradle either do you think practicte on the dvd will perfect it and do you have any tips for that
Hi.Kenny, your contact juggling truly is amazing.Contact juggling is amazing itself. But it just seems like I cant make my wiper(and other moves look real).I do it right it seems, but the just dont seem fluid.Any helps?
coolcolt100, I have a little advice for you! Even though I learned the Wiper in four days, I still have difficulty coming back and cradle-catching. This is what helped me:
Hold the ball on whatever hand you're going to do the Wiper. Do the motion while your free hand is rolling the ball in place. You're training your hand and brain to the feeling of it. I've done this over and over and over till I didn't need the guide of my free hand. Now, I only use the free hand to cradle-catch coming back.
AmazingKenny, you're awesome! However, how many beatings and falls to the floors can the Fushigi withstand before breaking?
It really appears as though the Fushigi is a creature from another world, and if one is patient and loving enough, it will like and befriend you, and perform any illusion you ask. That's the relationship I want. However, I just know I'm going to scream, "(BEEP!!) JUST FORGET IT!!", and slam the thing up against the wall, watching it shatter to a million pieces:(...refund?
@ZebrasFirst it depends on what you are dropping it on. Just like any toy, you dont want to throw it high into the air and let is smash onto rocks. If you are practicing contact juggling on soft surfaces like grass and carpet, your fushigi should never break. If you are dropping it on concrete, asphalt, and hard tile it will scuff the finish, flaw the ball and eventually break.
oh my!! LOL You are not only talented with the Fushigi Ball, you are also extremely well versed! Amazing Kenny - you AMAZE us all!! LOL keep it up - we love your videos! :)
I think you should create a dvd and sell copies of more indepth lessons for many reasons one you have a very polite and manneristic way about you, attractive to look at good at what you do and a soothing voice.
I could see into helping develop your webpage! I would be way more then happy to! I was a co-creator/forum police of chaos haven .n et our server shut down so now its chaos haven .n ing .c om don't bother checking it out just letting you know I have experience with html
hey, your vids are awesome, i so wanna learn, you should definitely give me a free Fushigi ball just because i watched every single video that you have and I subscribed..haha(^___^) lol...doesn't hurt to ask
@NajeePharaoh Unfortunately with the backorder, even I am having a hard time getting fushigi. I only have 3 and I want 8. and 3 minis, and a big one, and a glow one. Long wish list....

twinsanddad 1 year ago
@twinsanddad It is "almost" the same thing. The butterfly makes a figure 8 motion, the "wiper" makes a rigid arc with the elbow as imobilized as possible. Many people and some performers dont recognize the difference, so I understand the confusion.

is it possible to use a billiard ball for this?
321448 1 year ago
@321448 the billiard ball is slightly smaller and lighter than recommended, but yes, it is absolutely possible. In fact, I recommend them for learning palmspinning.

@TheLdzpln OMG DONT practice right in from of your computer. Hugely bad idea.

123Wubzy 1 year ago
@123Wubzy ummm... the ball used in this video is not a fushigiball brand contact juggling ball. It is a hollow steel sphere. Contact jugglin can be done with balls of more than one brand. Sorry for the confusion girl.

do you rest it on your knuckles or on your middle finger?
superkellerman8D 1 year ago
@superkellerman8D I hold it in different places sometimes, everyone's body is different so I don't get too specific. I personally hold it on the middle finger, resting against the knuckles.
AmazingKennyT 1 year ago
holy crap alot of people like your vids andonly one dosent on that other vid i saw!
456manofwar 1 year ago
I just started practicing last night. My double-jointed fingers make the cradle quite simple for me since I can both lower the middle finger and still raise the tip to make a bowl shape =P I have been practicing with a baseball. If you use something that heavy, don't do it in your easychair with your laptop in your lap. There will be damage, expensive damage!

Hey Kenny don't yer fingers ever cramp up?lol
MTjedi420 1 year ago
@MTjedi420 this is actually REALLY good for your hands as long as you don't do it too much. I've done this so long that I have to perform for like 6 hours before I need to worry about it. Although multiball work (like 8) fatigues my hands fairly quickly.

hey amazing kenny because i cant afford a proper contact juggling ball as i am 14 i am using a hockey ball that has had the little holes worn out so it is smooth, would this be sufficiant i can do a squeeze up and stuff
1xxgaffaxx1 1 year ago
what are those balls made of and how much do they weight, thanks.
sookysoy 1 year ago
Hay that part where you throw the ball up and catch it on the back of your hand, I been trying to do it and the times when I don’t drop the ball it just hurts!!!
I do not want to break my hand!
What do I do?
626fan82 1 year ago
@626fan82 Soft, learn to cushion its landing, move your hand down with it as it lands so that the impact is not as high, with practice, (try it with a softer object for a bit as well) you will get to be great at it! You need the same thing if you ever try to catch a juggling ball on your foot... it doesn't just land on its own and stay.

i found that useing the pointer finger and the pinky finger is most comfortable for me and plus u got 3 fingers on bottem to catch better haha

How heavy is it?
It looks very light but that's probably because you're skilled with it
Ayannafuckingnichole 1 year ago
@Ayannafuckingnichole I haven't accurately weighed the Fushigiball. My acrylics are about 10 ounces and fushigi are probably close to that.
AmazingKennyT 1 year ago
Hey, do you use any kind of cream/ointment (such as lotion) to make it easier for the ball to move around your hand?
purefied99 1 year ago
@purefied99 ha! no. Any oil or lotion would make to too slick for many of these tricks.

Woohoo dude i did this for like 3 days with a tennis ball im getting a fushigi soon! =D
qaw127 1 year ago
Dude, you're awsome! XD
I have a quick question. I've been cursed with extremely tiny hands. The fushigi ball feels a little awkward. Would it be easier for me to learn with a slightly smaller ball, or would I only be making more work for myself? Or should I accept having freakishly small hands and leave contact juggling to the professionals? lol
Oops, I suppose that was two questions... ;^_^

hey kenny its christa, teta930, and as im practicing, which i am unable to do for a while due to school (8th grade) andother things (basketball) i can only get it from cradle to palm then back to cradle, but every time i try tokeep it going i drop it.... good thing i practice fushigi (cj) on my bed.....
and i messaged u about something important...
teta930 1 year ago
AmazingKenny, Your DVD demonstrating the basics did not come with a case or jewel box, so I just put it in with my "Labyrinth" DVD. How fitting.
I have another genius idea for the clear sphere. You can do your illusions, pretend to get upset about something, then toss the sphere very hard against the wall. But, it won't be the clear sphere, it'll be a sandwich bag full of water!! Imagine their surprise when they see "the sphere" explode into water and turn into a wet, empty bag.

@ZebrasFirst dirty camera tricks!?
yeah, sounds good. :P
AmazingKennyT 1 year ago
AmazingKennyT, A professional such as yourself doesn't need a camera trick! I'm sure you can pull it off in person.
ZebrasFirst 1 year ago
Too Cool!!
ZebrasFirst 1 year ago
maybe my hands are too small and i cant catch the ball on cradle it just slips
coolgymkid 1 year ago
Respond to this video... cool my hands are the perfect size not really big but not small so it fits better in cradle
coolgymkid 1 year ago
hey amazingkenny i got my fushigi yesterday it is a 3" and i cant do wiper i can put it in the cradle and transfer it to the palm but not back i drop it and if i watch the dvd an hour a day for a week practicing wiper do you think ill have it...i cant bounce it on the back of my hand in cradle either do you think practicte on the dvd will perfect it and do you have any tips for that
coolgymkid 1 year ago
@coolgymkid you can learn to do this, don't give up. check your messages.

Hi.Kenny, your contact juggling truly is amazing.Contact juggling is amazing itself. But it just seems like I cant make my wiper(and other moves look real).I do it right it seems, but the just dont seem fluid.Any helps?
coolcolt100 1 year ago
coolcolt100, I have a little advice for you!
Now, I only use the free hand to cradle-catch coming back.

what should I use to clean my acrylic CJ ball?
thatPUNKdude 1 year ago
AmazingKenny, you're awesome! However, how many beatings and falls to the floors can the Fushigi withstand before breaking?
It really appears as though the Fushigi is a creature from another world, and if one is patient and loving enough, it will like and befriend you, and perform any illusion you ask. That's the relationship I want. However, I just know I'm going to scream, "(BEEP!!) JUST FORGET IT!!", and slam the thing up against the wall, watching it shatter to a million pieces:(...refund?
ZebrasFirst 1 year ago
@ZebrasFirst it depends on what you are dropping it on. Just like any toy, you dont want to throw it high into the air and let is smash onto rocks. If you are practicing contact juggling on soft surfaces like grass and carpet, your fushigi should never break. If you are dropping it on concrete, asphalt, and hard tile it will scuff the finish, flaw the ball and eventually break.
