Big states said they should get more power due to the fact that they had more land while small states demanded an equal amount of power for being a unique state. They settled it by creating a bicameral legislature. Now the big states get what they want (The House of Representatives) and the small states get what they want (The Senate). You want to take away the wealth of Senators? Take away all the benefits like book royalties. If you abolish the Senate I'm absolutely sure the cost of House membership will skyrocket, that being the only avaliable form of national legislation. And I don't know where you get off saying regions won't be more influential than one another. Not everybody will be satisfied. Politicians focus on pleasing a majority, by removing the Senate and EC, politicians focus on the areas of greatest pop- coasts.

You are correct the Senate doesn't control everything, however it does exert far to much power being an aristocratic undemocratic body. For example, everything the House passes must be passed by the Senate before having the chance of being signed into law, however the Senate has SOLE congressional authority over passage of executive secretary positions, Supreme court justices, and International Agreements like NAFTA.

If there was no Senate a true tri-part balance of power would exist in the federal government between the Executive branch, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court. Anyone who understands the true meaning of Democracy knows that the US is certainly not one. The Electoral College and the Senate stand between Americans and Democracy.
