  • War looks dangerous, I'm sticking with my Xbox.

  • is this real?

  • at the beginning they would of not of tooken cover they would of marched right in to that because it was the proper way to fight

  • @TheCalhounboys How old are you ?

  • This seems to have additional scenes from the version I had on VHS and now on DVD, whered you get it?

  • I thought I was the only one who knew about this movie

  • Regardless of where your affections lie. You have to give the Confederacy a hell of a lot of credit for their stubborn efforts.

  • The South invaded the North twice during the War, and at Gettysburg in particular the South suffered heavily and were forced to withdraw. The North suffered heavily in many battles in the South, but had the men and resources to refit again and again.

If the Confederacy eliminated a Division from combat effectiveness. They would again face a new division with fresh men and added ordnance. The South was trying to swim up stream against a monstrous current.

  • wow is this a real fight?

  • @BabyBBB01

No it is not a real fight merely a reenactment

  • @Marshall2431 ....OH okay, i see

  • This is a slow and inefficient style of warfare. Wouldn't it have been better to quietly sneak up on your enemy than to have drums pounding and bugles blaring... announcing to the opponent that you are coming and giving away your position? And the guys holding those flags... it's almost like having a "shoot me" sign.

  • @Earthman99999 tahts about the size of it

  • so which colour is which

  • Man the confedurates were much more smarter in this movie :/

  • "HEY BETTER IDEA! LETS PUT THE CANNONS IN FRONT OF OUR GUYS WHERE SHARP SHOOTERS CAN PICK OFF THE GUYS SETTING UP THE CANNONS!"

  • Man the strategies during that era sucked. One general thinks, "Hey I got a idea lets charge toward a hill where they have open view of our approach with muskets and a bloody cannon!" No wonder why so many people actually deserted.

  • It is so historically inaccurate that it's funny. When was this made?

  • @legallyawesome1 about 1981-1982 I think.

  • I think the Union guys are carrying trapdoor Springfields and wearing post war 5 button sack coats.

  • @TheJamesEndsor Yeah I think they are too. Maybe that is why they won the war, they were using trapdoors without telling us.

  • This looks fun how can i join this :D

  • HA! i wached the full movie @ my school it took like a week and a half!

  • It had been a few paragraphs long but I dont recall any other fighting in his time in the war but Ive heard of a several instances of blacks fighting for there lives during skrimishes and battles.

I dont give a rats ass if they were sent to fight or they were just cought in a fight there all damn heros everyone of them.

    God Bless them

  • That sounds nothing like musket fire

  • What a God awful movie.

  • @zipsrule i know right, they wouldn't of taken to the ground by the wagon like that, they would've just marched through shrapnel and shot and musketball until they got in range

  • @guywith3 That's actually not the worst part of the movie. There is so much wrong it's unbelievable!

  • @zipsrule

What happnened to Bernard Elliot Bee dieing scene after those words .... and he was not fat he was fit and strong refered to as a "lion" and handsome but i don't blame actors oh yeah with long hair so yeah this film has alot of holes xD

  • @finalfrontier001

Brigadier General Bernard E. Bee xD he graduated a year before stonewall jackson xD

  • farb

  • I crapped my pants!

  • Fall flat on their bellies at the first shot? Not freakin' likely ... very poor understanding.

  • this reminds me of napoleon total war.

  • I wet my pants.

  • Trolololz Civil Warz

  • Terrible as a war movie. Most of the battle scenes are apparently skirmishes at the company level. Union officers are absent as if a sergeant runs the show.

  • apparently these yankees are under the direct and sole command of a sergeant.

  • good movie but i hate how theirs no gore a real battle would be bloody with limbs and visceral flying everywhere but its still good

  • was this battle just 20-a-side then?

  • @ryko26 no it was much larger

  • Either its a helicopter or the spirit of Southern Glory commin down to encourage the Heros in Gray!

  • I missread the title and thought it was porn, but it still worked.

  • These videos just isn't depicting the civil war as accurately enough. The devastation of the civil war is so immense, it was the most horrendous war ever for America. The injuries caused by the firearms of that day, I do not think it will ever be made into film.

Sorry to crush the nostalgic feelings to the civil war buffs. That is the reality of it.

  • Those musket dubs are fucking terrible.

  • How the hell did we lose this battle when we had a helicopter.

  • @Vassilli42 cause confedarates had rocket launchers :D

  • @2Theepicguy I knew it. Those crafty confedarates. :)

  • 2:28 Most epic line in movie history. lol

  • There is a lot of Camera Shadow throughout this

  • most backwards war ever...nearly as bad as world war 1

  • 5.44 hes really getting into it.

  • Awful acting !

  • makes you wonder how much original equipment was used in making this series

  • conveniently placed wheelbarrow thing

  • @Faxe90Swe

Okay but still it didn't play a pivotal role in the battle and I don't think Stonewall Jackson ordered them to get behind it.

  • 5:59 fall back to the fence! Oh, wait, that didn't exist...

  • @TheSpillProductions

Yes, there were fences in some parts of the battlefield.

  • Wow, I didn't realize while watching the movie how crappy a job they did at recreating this battle. They make it seem like a puny battle, and I'm pretty sure there was no fence for the Confederates to hide behind (1:30). Gods and Generals does a much better job at recreating this battle.

  • dum muther fuckers shoot at the gunnery men smfh!

  • 4:28 - 4:30 you can see a helicopter fly over the house!

  • @darthroden, Nice eye.

  • @Flutterflyraptor thats why the north won they had a helicopter as a secret weapon....lol

  • @spyderfxst, I thought so.

  • @spyderfxst the south lives in are harts tho

  • @spyderfxst The North won because they had an endless supply of manpower and ordnance.

  • @Flutterflyraptor The 2nd assistant director is responsible for that shit he screwed the pooch.

  • @darthroden LOL

  • @darthroden They had helicopters back then, so I don't see why that would stand out.

  • @foof811 tell me your kidding...

  • @wazzle552 Pick up a history book once in a while. You might learn something.

  • @foof811 your saying they had helicopters back, in the 1800's?

  • @wazzle552 Yeah. They had Hueys back in the 1800's. They would light up the forests with missiles, and the Battle Of Gettysburg was actually won with strategic airstrikes and Napalm runs. That's why it was the bloodiest war in American History. Poor Medical practices that led to death due to gangreene infections, and Napalm.

  • @foof811 i cant tell if your kidding or if your that goddamn stupid..

  • @wazzle552 Kidding.

  • @TheCommunistColin :DDD, you had me going o.O

  • @TheCommunistColin oh shit, haha didnt notice it was a different person.

  • @wazzle552 What? :P

I'm just saying, he couldn't have been THAT stupid, lol

  • @TheCommunistColin haha, or could he O.O

  • @foof811 I hope to god you don't mean textbooks.

  • @MrZerostr yup

  • @foof811 i believe it and they also had Winchesters because sure as fuck those are NOT the sounds of a springfield

  • @foof811 Please tell me he's kidding, I second that.

  • @darthroden It was space aliens checking up on the human race.

  • @KnightOwl2006

Sadly though they found no intelligent life, just two groups of barely evolved primates who threw away reason and civilization for their base animal instincts.

  • @darthroden Yes, the Confederate Henley Helicopter, steam powered. They were ahead of their time.

  • @darthroden The reason you would see a helicopter for any reason is because The Blue and the Gray was filmed on-location in Arkansas, and do correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @darthroden wow, very nice eye

  • You captured ten rebs with an empty musket? Damn son, I'd hate to play poker with you.

  • the sound effects also occure in panzer general...

  • It's a horrible inaccurate portrayal of the battle of Bull Run, but..... it is a good civil war battle scene despite the horrible gun sound effects.

  • mmm....according to this, there was about 24 people fighting in the battle.

    That's real accurate.

  • I love the show, but it would of been better if they actually tried to make the battle scenes more realistic. :)

  • where the line infantry? they fight almost like in ww2

  • i think theres a midget at 9:28

  • That Union dude that fell off the horse @ 4:10 almost got pancaked by his ride.

  • ugh so horrible in it's depiction of the battle, I swear did anyone in the 30's-late 80's pic up a history book to see how it was or did they just have the worng impression from the outset

  • 石壁のジャクソン!

  • If anyone didnt know the union troops with the funny looking hats and pants, those troops are in a Pennsylvanian regiment that where gifted those uniforms in either a marching contest or a rifle one.

  • the south will rise again

  • @pleximarz i dont think so although i like and support CSA

  • Gods and generals is a much better portrayal, this movie makes Jackson look like a bumpkin, our boys routed the damned yankee invaders at bull run.

  • General Benard Bee was not black

  • WTF??? A BLACK REBEL???? these peps obviously did not do their history homework

  • @smfan2000 there where blacks in the confederate army you should learn history its very interesting

  • @smfan2000 look on here under the title black confederates and also look up a man named H.K. Edgerton, he is a black man who knows and speaks the true history of the black folks who fought for the Confederacy by their own free will, some of the best cavalry were blacks under general Forrest, his history had been distorted by northern propaganda as well.

  • @smfan2000 There are many well documented cases of blacks serving as rifle-carrying members of Confederate units. British Colonel Fremantle provides details of seeing a Black Confederate escorting federal prisoners to the rear at the point of the bayonet. Now that must have been a hard day for those federal soldiers. Blacks in Confederate service received the same pay white soldiers and stood beside them in the battle line and not in segrated units as in the federal army.

  • @smfan2000 Obviously you did not 19 thousand blacks surved in the Confederacy as cooks and such.

Of that number an estimated three thousand FREED blacks were in combat.

The Confederacy also had the alliegence of the Indians in Oklahoma aswell as several thousand Texas born Mexicans.

These sorts of things are well documented I encourage you to check them out its an incredible part of history left out of the School books.

  • @TexianPride yeap. and If Confederates were so bad,to blacks, why they hadn't made mutiny when 900000 of 1100000 man on the south gone on war? more of it, they were helping to keep up the farms and so on. the five civilised tribes were creating the cavalry regiments in confederate army too.

  • @tomenicus The Conderacy also had a force of a somewhat loosely organized militia known as the home guard 1861-1865' used track down and capture Confederate Army deserters. Identify and suppress local civilian disturbances.

One of the most notorious of these was the "Independent Rangers" led by early Old West outlaw Cullen Baker. In late 1864, this band was responsible for what became known as the Massacre of Saline, when they murdered ten unarmed men from Perry County, Arkansas.

  • @TexianPride Confederate blacks numbered a mere 2-3 thousand indivuals served in engineer and support units.

On April 10th, 1865' as Confederate prisoners blacks were being marched from Sailor's Creek & elsewhere to City Point & eventually off Northern prison camps, a Union chaplain observed the column. This incident along the retreat to Painesville, seems to be the only documented episode of "official" Black troops serving the Confederacy as a unit under fire.

  • @fluffy1931 Most blacks were not sent in to fight officially most instances Ive found were blacks thrust in to battle during an ambush situation where they were in the middle of a firefight and picked up a firearm to return fire.

I wish I could find the article again a few years back I read of a formor slave who gave an account on his experience in the war it went along the lines of his company being cought in an ambush and he joined Confederate forces to repel the attack.

  • always been very interested in this war, but i've never heard of this mini series. As a northerner I have alot of respect for the Confederate army's spirit. Cheers and RIP all those killed

  • gardin12 both sides were Americans so to say damn the Yankees is the same as saying damn the Rebels.

  • watched this in class while studying the civil war, really good mini-series

  • jonny rebs suck long live unionnnnn

  • Comment removed

  • dame the yhankes

  • @gardin12 damn the dirty rebs!!

  • @gardin12 YEAH!

  • @gardin12 Dud the yankees made you

  • @gardin12 "Dame the yhankes"?? I think you mean "Damn the Yankees". Just one of many reasons the Confederacy lost. People like you. I have 2 more words for you, look it up..."Jesco White". This is what the Confederacy would have been if by some miracle they won.

  • @Quillons1 Fuck you and anyone else who thinks the south was just a bunch of racists

  • @ZACHCOX123 Yeah you really showed me with that one. Well done. Yeehaw, pal. Thank goodness the Confederacy was run by people like you or Dixie might have actually had a shot! I should be thanking you. Did you take the time to look up "Jesco White"? It's good for a laugh even if you you don't like me. Now please, grown ups are talking here so don't interrupt...

  • @Quillons1 And it's a pity yankees like you won the war so we are now in the economic shit hole we hear so much about. P.S. Hopefully grownups have better things to do than argue on youtube. Now, wiser people than you on civil war topics are talking so please, don't interrupt...

  • @ZACHCOX123 I can't argue the economic shit hole situation. When you're right you're right. I suspect it's the only time in your life you have been right though. Take your own advice, though, you interrupted me with your ridiculous "fuck you" comment. There may be people wiser than I, but it CERTAINLY isn't you after THAT ridiculous shot. Now, do we need to carry this on? Or can we just end this as it is. We'll never agree so we're just spinning our wheels here.

  • @gardin12 damn your spelling....

  • The confederates look like retardes

  • @lovranhrvatska those retards almost destroyed your shitty yankee army. long live the confederacy

  • @amdsoccer94 dude im not even from america..so stfu..but they look like ?

  • @lovranhrvatska yeah you are right. they did a shitty job of portraying the confederates

  • rule in warfare, if youre really close to the enemy and they manage to fire 2 shots from their cannons at you then youre a noob.

  • This is a very inaccurate portrayal of the battle.

  • @RebelYank Well, that's Hollywood for you. Sadly.

  • @RebelYank hey watch gettisburg or gods and generals they got better

  • @RebelYank agreed. This is rediculous

  • @RebelYank

Are you trying to say more than 300 soldiers fought at the battle of bull run? ;P

  • Comment removed

  • i love the epic deaths they do in old war films XD
