  • Good video! IF ONLY IT WORKED THAT EASILY.... Pinnacle is full of bugs...

  • gr8 work man thanks alot next thing i need to know is how to make scifi movies

  • thats a very nice video. ;D

(sorry my english is not the best)

  • @Nigrosisen Your English is perfect and thank you for the nice compliment!

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • wich rendering settings should i use to a normal DVD?

  • @Roobin95 How long is your DVD going to be? My DVD's are usually always under a hour long so I will use the "BEST Quality" setting. They always turn out looking good. Do you have a Bluray player? I take my HD content and create an AVCHD disc on a standard DVD...typically under 30 mintues! That DVD disc will play HD content on my Bluray player without the cost of a Bluray Disc.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • every time i try to put that second title, it tells me that i have to install something to actually do that, but when i press a link, what it gives, nothing happens. Can someone tell me, what is, what i have to istall, tha i can actually do that. PLEASE HELP ME!

(i now, my english isn't so good, but try to understand. ;))

  • @Grimberg111 wtf i'm talking about titles? I mean those menus.

  • @Grimberg111 I understood what you were talking about!!! Hopefully my response was the answer you were looking for!!!

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @Grimberg111 Once you are in the DVD menu toolbox (Select Edit Menu), then select the "T" at the bottom to the right of the arrow. Then click on the menu and draw out a box to add your second title to a DVD Menu.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina well i meant the timeline. I cant but there that "start" and "scene section" or something like that. I can but that scene thing, but i cant then but that start menu, but when i try but the start menu, pinnacle tells me, that i have to download something to do that. Well.. that helped me too, because i was wondering that too :D

  • @Grimberg111 Are you having issues linking your video from the timeline to the buttons on the menu? I was a little confused with all of the "buts" in your question.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Will this program edit and/or replace a main title menu in a dvd? Thanx, Willard

  • @4444Werty If you are trying to replace the titles in the DVD menu, then yes you can replace them. When you drop the menu you in the timeline, the Menu Toolbox will open. You will see a button in the right corner that says...Edit Menu! Select that button and you will now be able to edit the menu. Select the text and change the titles.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina Well, I'm trying to replace a default menu in a dvd I made using DvdRemakePro to merge 2 dvds. It was the only program I could find to merge dvds(without complications like converting, etc). The merge work great, but I just want to replace the default main menu with one I make. RemakePro doesn't have this feature - I did use Sony DVD Architect Studio, but when I replaced it with the default one it would open as before but the buttons for the 2 dvds would open to the same dvd.

  • Thanks a lot! :)

I would never have been able to create that alone :P

  • @JuriKato It is always good to hear feedback that is positive...like a thank you!!! Your comment is much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • thx it helped a tol :) now i know how to link buttons to videos :)

  • @olenasalsa So glad it helped.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Thank you so much!

  • @ExoticEdit Glad the video was able to help out...make sure you check out all of the free ones on the AVID You Tube Site.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • great

  • great

  • i tried this but it says that i need to "upgrade" in order to add two menus to my project.

i bought the studio movie box HD if that makes a difference. thanks!

and the version that came in the box (version 14) doesnt have all the buttons and options he mentioned above like "auto scene index" "manual" and "set return" "motion thumbnail" etc. help?

  • @onepie57 The version in this demo is the Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Collection...which comes with all of the content for Studio. Do you have the Ultimate Collection? If yes, then you should be able to see and do everything in this tutorial.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Oh cool! But i LIKE WinX DVD Author. It is easy to use and fast, free.

  • Hi! I've done many dvds with custom menus using the standard menu editor (not the motion menu editor). Studio 14 has worked great!

However, when I'm trying to do a HD version (bluray) of the same project, the menu, or actually it's backround get's VERY pixelated. The buttons seems to be ok but the backround is far worse than in a regular dvd version.

I'm using a HD resolution still image as those menu backrounds.

Anthony, do you know how I could try to fix this? :)

  • @arpw3 Is the image in a 16 x 9 format?

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina

The image was in 1280x720 resolution, the same resolution as the videos that I used in the project.

However, I solved the problem by making a hd video file of that image, 30 seconds still image in the hd video file. Then I edited the menu and used that "video" as a backround instead of using the traditional still image --> the result looks great! now :)

The developers of Pinnacle studio should anyway test if they can reproduce the case I had earlier.

  • when I run this software on my computer it stops so many times I don;t know why?

does not respond I have to wait for long minutes to get back running it really sucks maybe I have to get another software which works better!

  • @realjuvelive I hate to say this but it sounds like it is a computer problem. Are you running the minimum specs or above for the software?

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina my friend I have hp dv7 4280us 17.3 inch laptop and it's new I got 5 days ago with intel core i5 and I do upload the video to the computer and after that I make changes on it with pinnacle studio I flim my videos on 720p HD the file extention MOV

  • thank you so much. this did help me. burning my first DVD from the tatorial .

  • @racerdsm14391V2 That is great news!!!

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Hi. Sorry to bother you. But how do you make multiple menus? Like, I have about 21 chapters, and I can't fit them all on one menu screen, yet I'm having trouble with it being a next button. Can you help or point me in the direction of another tutorial? Because the Avid and Pinnacle sites have links to how to do multiple menus, yet it doesn't come up, like the page has been disabled. Thanks.

  • @nickflix1 No bother at all. Pinnacle Studio will automatically add extra menu pages depending on the number of chapter points you have vs buttons you have per menu. To fix the Next Buttons, Select Edit Menu Button and then click on button and go to drop down button and select "Normal Button". The button you are using is default as a "Next Button".

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • great brother

  • I cant burn it....

    could someone help me please!!

    thanx

  • @FrietjeM What seems to be the problem? Are you getting an error?

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina

no,, I managed to burn it,, but my dvd player and my pc couldnt play it...

  • @FrietjeM I am not quite sure what happen there. It could have been the media. Did you try burning another disc or using different media ( a different disc brand)?

    Sincerely,

    Anthony

  • This is a great Video ...quality work ......thanks

  • I found this very helpful, I just have a question.. How do you make the Duration longer. I try to change it but it glitches back to 6 seconds but I would like it to be longer. Could you please help me!

  • @WindRunnerProduc Hmmm...I have never had a problem changing the time on a menu. From the edit DVD menu screen you can type in a new duration and that should do the trick or you can go to the timeline and park your cursor over the end of the menu and drag it right to make it longer. I hope that this helps.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • You are right, the people at Pinnacle use only one computer, graphics card and one sound card. That's one of their excuses they use when you call tech support.

I know Pinnacle from version 7-11, but I sent 12 back because they dropped SmartSounds. Pinnacle locks up, freezes, hangs, blows up. It is a train wreck. It's not your computer it's their high school programming. I am surprised to see Pinnacle is hasn't filed chapter 13 and ran with the money.

  • @dhansel001 Smartsound is back for Pinnacle Studio 15 and AVID Studio (small fee to add this as a plug-in). There are hundreds of graphics cards and computer configurations out there...so it can be extremely hard for the poor developers to test every single computer component in the world. It can be hard to do HD editing on a computer that may be 3 years old and many people try. So I am sure that they are not just testing it on one computer but that is a funny image.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • You know , I Love what Pinnacle Studio can do with your movie. Really top end stuff. Problem is that I don't think the programmers USE the program to make any DVD's.

Course any program that you use when you try to do something custom with it tends to have glitches.

When You start buying all the plugins, Your almost there to something like AVID DV anyways.

Avid PRO side has WAY better end user support. And Top Notch Software.

Hardware is Out of this world!

  • I do everything that says in the movie, but the menu-bottons doesnt work... Can you help me/ give me a tips ? ÅRRHH, its soo annoying ..

  • @piintoo13 What kind of menu are you using? Pre-made? Modified? or Customized? It is hard for me to tech support this one because I am not there looking at the menu. Do you test the DVD from Studio before you burn the disc? Are you using the same menu or have you tried other menus? Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Anthony

  • I do everything that says in the movie, but the menu-bottons doesnt work... Can you help me/ give me a tips ?

  • @musicianphotography - It looks like this is a bug in Pinnacle to me. From the Pinnacle Knowlege Base

Return to Menu markers in Studio 14 always return to Menu 1 [346327]

In Studio 14 if you set a Return to Menu marker it will always return to Menu 1 even if you set it to return to a different menu in the project. For example, if you have three menus and set a Return to Menu marker to return to menu 3, it will incorrectly return to Menu 1. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • kk thanks i have sorted the problem out

  • All very good - HOWEVER why was the "RETURN TO MENU" option skipped over?

If I try to set a "return to scene menu" marker (eg M2) there is no problem BUT if I then try to play the entire movie (from M1) the movie stops and goes to M2 at the marker. If I leave out the return marker then a selected scene runs until the movie finishes - effectively Play Movie is operated.

Is this a BUG ? or deliberate?

I wonder why the MAIN menu does not over-ride the sub menu markers?

    I welcome advice

  • @musicianphotography I did a little experimenting. Drop your sub menu first...place all of your links. Now add the SET RETURN at the end of your movie. Now bring in your main menu and set up the links for Scene Selection and Play Movie...the Set Return will now return to the Scene Selection instead of the Main Menu. The set return seems to go back to what the first menu is when you set up the return point.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorina

Thank you for investigating. Followed your instructions and still find I have not got what I want.

I can play the FULL MOVIE either from the "PLAY Movie" (plays full movie) OR from the Sub-Menu (M2)selection - IF I delete the return to M2 marker at the end of each designated scene / chapter .

However, if I leave the return to M2 markers the movie will return to M2 from the scene / chapter. Great from the Sub-menu BUT a problem if I wish to view the entire movie. Peter

  • @AnthonyMartorina

PART 2 Cont.. A "work around" I tried is to place the scenes/chapters with the "last Scene" being the ENTIRE MOVIE (ie all the chapters merged together without chapter markers). This seems to cause indigestion to Pinnacle but not to ROXIO 2011. I am now using Pinnacle for its "extras" and ROXIO for "menuing". Not ideal.

Again I ask, is this "issue" a "feature of the program" (- i.e. am I asking the impossible) OR is there a BUG?

    P

  • thanksssss

  • I have a problem with pinnacle studios 14 when I try to put it onto YouTube it goes to a 100% and then right at the end it says there is a internal issue with the hosting server . What is it and how do I fix it .

  • @XTRMkillerX I have run into this problem before I have asked a tech person over @ Pinnacle and was told that it is coming from the Host Site, it doesnt happen all of the time but it does happen time to time. If I am in a hurry I will just export the file as a MPEG4 (Sd or Hd) based on what size the video is and then go directly to You Tube and upload from there. I know that this is a work around but it gets the video up there while the host server is getting back to normal.

  • mr. parker

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you for posting this. I was on the verge of tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to link the main menu to the sub menu. And then to find out it was that easy!! Sheesh! Thanx a billion!!

  • @AleisaAK I am so glad that you did not tear your hair out...I allready ripped out mine before making the training video...ha...just kidding! Make sure that you watch the rest of the free tutorials on the AVID page for Pinnacle Studio!

  • How do you make a menu with a motion backgroud. I tried putting a video on the top bar and then dragging a menu onto the title bar, but I get a "only titles on tile bar" error message. I have Pinnacle studio 14.

  • @charlotteviner1 Try this...drag a menu to your timeline. Edit the menu and select the backgrounds button. Now select the checkerboard on the top right...this will put transparency on the menu. Select Okay and now drag a clip of video to the overlay track and place it under the menu. This will create a motion background for your DVD. Cheers, Anthony

  • @AnthonyMartorinaI tried this method and it worked...thanks! :) I am having another menu problem, I placed a set return at the end of my first chapter and a set the return at the the end of my movie, and when I select Play Movie it stops at the set return for my first chapter.

  • @charlotteviner1 What is happening is that when you play your movie it hits the first return to menu because it is in Chapter 1, so if you play the whole movie it is going to go to the menu because the return is there. Do you really need it to return to the menu after you play the first chapter? If so, then I would maybe add a second menu or put chapter 1 in there twice...depending if I have plenty of room on my disc.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Awesome video, helped me out a lot.

  • Just followed the Authoring instructions step by step as per the video and IT WORKS! More Pinnacle 14 video tutorials please. (Maybe slow down the talking a bit, though, even if it makes the video longer.)

  • @VIDEOMAN1302 If you go to AVID on You Tube, then you will see a whole bunch of great free tutorials for Pinnacle Studio 14. I am so glad that you liked it...next time I will have less caffine...ha!!!

  • Is there a way of increasing the time slot for DVD menu to stay longer .. when the dvd is inserted into the dvd player.... because it pre-selects a 10 second mark.. the dvd automatically starts playing?? help !!

  • @ziaaziz Click on the DVD menu clip on the timeline, put your mouse over the end of the clip, when you see your mouse turn into the double arrows drag the clip to the right to increase the time. If it starts playing automatically either you did something wrong or your dvd player is set up like that. Try clicking on the DVD button under the video next to the controls like he said to view how it's going to act.

  • @ziaaziz Just simply grab the menu and pull it to the right if you want to extend the length that it plays.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • when makeing a movie on pinnacle studio 14 should i go to settings first and can anyone help me in settings pls i am useing dvd-r in dvd so i want to get the high quality so can anyone on here give me some help pls thanks anyone give me tips on all i asked thanks

  • please tell me how to use the effect of the picture in the picture? "So that man was playing on the background of another picture

  • @mioritsa You will see that you have two video tracks...place a video on the top track that you want in the background and then add a second video that you want to be in the picture in picture. Then double click on that video and the Picture in Picture tool will open up. Now move the picture where you want it or use a preset from the pull down menu...you can also add a border and a dropshadow.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • thanks

  • I am very happy with Pinnacle Studio 14 now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 64x with 8 GB ram and a new 1 GB video card. I am getting much better results in the authoring and preview pane. All of my videos were produced using various versions of Pinnacle Studio.

  • @BigCrawlcom My computer is not good as yours, but does it make a difference on the result of the movie?

I mean, I'm expecting to have a slow computer while I'm editing my videos, but it won't change my final output, right?

    Cheers

  • @bassnicola That is a great question but you do not have to worry...The final output will still be the same...it just might take a little longer with the rendering time.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • @bassnicola It shouldn't however one glitch I have found is that Pinnacle will offset the sound on videos. I usually find that it gets tweaked in the "create file" or disc mode when I have certain transitions or music breaks. Sometimes I have had to just delete the special effects to get Pinnacle NOT to mess up my sound tracking.

  • -BADENGLISH I THINK-

I made a movie with a menu and played it with Windows Media Player

But the menu didn't work, is it that WMP can't play menu's or was the menu just wrong?

  • @Sjoerdrock Did you try playing the movie in another DVD player?

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Hat mir sehr geholfen. Danke.

  • is studio 14 much better than 12 or should i keep using 12 which are the differences thanks for ur help

  • @mrhimilceful S14 has some nice features like the Motion Titler which will let you easily create motion titles, that feature comes with the Ultimate and Ultimate Colleciton Ver. There are also some amazing plug-ins from Red Giant too,2 come with Ultimate...I am sure that you have that one already called Magic Bullet Looks & Ultimate Collection comes with 6 new plug-ins including Toon It which turns your video into an animated look and Shine which brings light rays from behind. Cheers, Anthony

  • Is there a way to put Special Features menu and a audio menu?

  • Dear humbert0acevedo,

The answer is yes to both of your questions. To add Audio to your menu simply drag an audio clip or a piece of music to the audio track below the menu. Make sure that the audio and menu are the same length, so the audio is not cut off.

And when you talk about Special Features I assume you are talking about adding features like outtakes and extra footage. That is created by adding a main menu and a sub menu.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • Dear DEEJAYDAVEDENALI,

I was wondering if you have Pinnacle Studio 14 and had a chance to check out the New Content that comes with it. There are several new menus with matching sub menus. It is also very easy to customize any of the menus too. You can bring any photo into the background or use an graphic that you have in the background. There are several programs out that there are just backgrounds & all of those backgrounds can be used in Pinnacle Studio's DVD Authoring.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

  • A tad too fast but very good, thanks...

  • Dear bertiecan,

Think of the positives...it takes less time to watch...LOL! I am glad that you liked.

    Cheers,

    Anthony
