Hi. The concept of running a layout like this one here is very cool. I am in a high-rise and don't have the space for a traditional layout. It would be great however, if you could re-shoot this setup (if you still have it running) using better lighting to get a better and more clear idea of it with emphasis on the cornering to see shelf set-up at those points. Also - The plexi-glass is a great idea. See-through and not as much glare or hazardous as regular glass... Thanks!
@DiDDyRoCkProductions Thanks for your impute! Unfortunately it had to be taken down but I was able to get a lot of footage and hope to put that up on to youtube so that it can be seen properly over the poor quality of the camera that i was using at the time. Defiantly go for the building of the ceiling type layout if you can. It can be quite cool to look at the trains from such a different perspective.
The shelf is held up by a metal bracket screwed into the wall. As for the width it depends on how many tracks and if you are planing to put up buildings and scenery like in the video. There is no corkboard on my layout but it would definitely help with noise reduction. The plexi glass is up there to protect the train encase the train derails because if it fell the train would be gone.
I am in the process of putting an O-Scale train in my sons room like this. How did you mount the shelving to the wall without brackets on the bottom? How wide should I make the shelf? Did you use any kind of noise dampening styrofoam or corkboard below the track? How important is the clear plastic you have on the outside?
