  • what was that twisty bit at the end.....made me dizzy

  • i dont like it when people take them to the range, they shake the ground more than a 12 gauge and caused my head to rumble, XD

  • Comment removed

  • what do you like better; AR in 223? or 308?

  • whats the model because i cant find one that doesn't have a stainless steel barrel

  • anyone wanting to pick up one of these bad boys in cali, forget about it. RRA is banned by name, i learned the hard way by walking into a gun store cash in hand to order a LAR 8. =/

  • Beautiful.... I like the reliability of AK, but nowadays thats nominal. And the Ar Platform is incredibly accurate right outa the gate, is it not? I was thinking about a lefty bolt action, but with the price. Why not an AR10 style??? Oooh, Im droolin'

  • I can grab a .308 ar-15 for about $1000-$1100, I really want one but i need the money first lol.

  • How do you like the bolt catch on that thing ?

  • Thanks...

  • Hi, just wondering if different stocks (collapsable) can be substituted on the 20 and 26 inch versions? Thank You

  • @spawn00x

Yep, just gotta find a stock designed for a ar 10 buffer tube, magpul or vltor makes some good ones

  • .308mm rounds? AR-15 platform?

    New age AR-10.

  • they should be military issue

  • do you recommend this over other ar style .308 rifles

  • Modified FAL magazines? So regular FAL mags won't work?

  • @nbenicewicz

Im pretty sure they take standard fal mags (metric type mag well will work with either metric or inch type mags, a huge plus for a shtf battle rifle more mags for less money). I will note that now magpul is making standard AR 10 mags for around 23 bucks a pop new and they are really well made, so either the AR 10 or this gun would a better option than any other .308 auto loader mag price wise (besides the G3 clones but after owning one I would never buy another one again)

  • @SonofLiberty1990 There's a question I've wanted to ask, I've heard of metric pattern and inch pattern magazines for the FAL, what is the difference and why are there differences?

  • @nbenicewicz

Its a long story as to why there different designs, the metric is the most common and the original type of mag, but the british decided to be pricks and go with a specific design suited for them (hence inch for brit commonwealth nations and metric for everyone else). The mag catch on the back of the mags is slightly different, but a metric fal will take metric or inch mags, but inch fals (canadian and aussie example) can only take inch mags, something to consider when buying a fal

  • @SonofLiberty1990 I'm glad you told me this info. So what are these Century Arms FALs floating around, inch pattern or metric pattern?

  • @nbenicewicz I see these all the time in the Shotgun News , J&G sales has them for $699. they are always advertised as metric, using new barrels and some military surplus parts. not sure about the recievers origin! They are advertised as .308 win. cal. Check out J&G online.

  • @usamachinist Good word advice stay away from those parts guns, unless you buy it from a Gun shop whos going to back it up with warrenty, and most of them wont. Unless you want to be Gunsmith. No parts guns. If they back it up garruntee it, ok. it rattles and parts fall off you can take it back.

  • @usamachinist

They are century arms rifles built on imbel kits, id steer clear of those for around 300 more bucks you can order a dsa imbel fal that is superbly built. Century warranties are shit btw dont ever count on them to take a rifle back, there warranty starts as soon as the rifle is shipped, so it could already be expired by the time you purchase it from the distributor or local gun shop

  • LOL at that twirl

  • Will a KAC rail fit on the A4 20 inch?

  • yep battle rifle

  • Eu que o meu reifle - LAR 8 cla 308 Win!!!

  • I just purchased and brought home the LAR 8 A4 with 20 inch barrel. The magazine release sticks and is difficult to engage. Maybe needs a little oil?

Also wondering if anyone has attached a bipod to the A4. I do not want to buy a new fore end. Any ideas on the best way to attach the bipod?

  • @PatriotPrepper not sure but doesn't harris make a bipod that replaces your sling swivel? somehow i bet harris can make it work

  • @PatriotPrepper

Harris bipod actually attaches native to the swivel post and if you want it to attach to a rail, you need an additional adapter. If you check some of my video's, you will see my Harris on a Weatherby .308 Bolt as well as on my Rock River AR15 too.

I use the Harris bipod that also swivels left and right. Here is a link to their product pages: harrisbipods . com/HBLMS.html

  • @jjbpaca I have the standard LAR and it does not have a swivel stud or a rail. I would have to replace the hand guard or add a Harris swivel stud adapter. They only cost about $12 for the adapter and that is the way I will be going. I use the Harris swivel bipod on other guns. After using the swivel, I am ready to trash my other bipods. But there are some people who don't like the swivel feature. I love it.

  • @PatriotPrepper I had the same problem on mine brand new... but I have read that after you break it in abit that totally goes away. I think it is more due to the design of the mag release, but so far I haven't had any problems releasing my mags, I just have to push a little harder than I am used to with my AR-15.

  • @ebombme Ya I lubed the heck out of it with Breakfree and kept working it. Now it works fine. Thought it was defective.

  • @PatriotPrepper I had the same problem on mine brand new... but I have read that after you break it in abit that totally goes away. I think it is more due to the design of the mag release, but so far I haven't had any problems releasing my mags, I just have to push a little harder than I am used to with my AR-15. For attaching a Bipod I replaced the crappy handguard RRA put on there with the black magpul mid length MOE and added their tiny picatinny rail to the bottom to mount my Harris to it.

  • @ebombme Hey man thanks. I am in the process of deciding what to do. I might just get a Harris adapter or I might add a new hand guard and free float the barrel. I do things very slowly and sometimes it seems to take me forever to make a change. But I will be doing something. Just want to spend more time with the gun. Take care bro.

  • Nice twirley move at the end, there. High class production.

  • @RussellsParadox

that is the kind of special effects that will get us a local cable TV show one day

  • @GunWebsites pfft some day? i think you guys should be on national tv now!!

  • @vampire847

LOL.. Sure, our show would be something like this.. a bunch of commercials. our three to five minute video, then the rest of the hour with commercials.. I bet the TV people would love us..

  • @GunWebsites im thinking something like a build your own ar episode... pistol comparison vids bunch of nra stuff=3 all sorts of fun shit!

  • @GunWebsites that's about all most TV programming is, anyway: three to five minutes of actual video with commercials for the rest of the hour.

I still remember that brief time when cable television meant that since you paid for the programming you didn't have to see commercials. Oh how quickly that changed. :(

  • screw these jam-o-matic AR 10 clones, get a nice FN FAL

  • @MrDarkwolf1995 I personally like the look of an FAL better, but the word I am hearing is that FAL's are not near as accurate out of the box! I have been wanting the DSA SA58 standard Austrian clone( the one that sells for around $1100.) Not sure if it would shoot as good as a LAR 8! I have seen a RRA LAR8 with floated SS barrel for $899. I am looking for Accuracy over looks though! Not to mention Price!

  • @usamachinist The fal is a great rifle (reliable short stroke gas piston, works great with suppressors, a REAL charging handle that can be used to clear jams), but in my experience if you want absolute accuracy the AR 10 rifles are hard to beat due to its direct impingement system and easy to free float barrel. This LAR looks great as it uses common and relatively cheap mags and its rock river quality at a decent price. I just cant ever find one for sale is the issue

  • @SonofLiberty1990 I should probably just get a Dpms .308, I just have a hard time deciding to shell out a grand for a rifle without forward assist, I am probably just being nitpicky considering it would probably shoot great! The RRA LAR8 is usually a few hundred higher! I believe the RRA rifle price I mentioned in my previous post may not have been correct, I probably should have hocked one of my kids if I had seen that deal! LOL!

  • @usamachinist

Actually, the first ar 10 type rifle I shot was a DPMS 16" optics ready 308. and it was ok, quality seemed to be alright as well. I will say however the Armalite 20" was a better rifle imo (luckily for me they both sported a 4x acog so it wasnt a issue of optics quality). Felt recoil was less on the bigger gun and accuracy seemed a little better, fit and finish was definitely better. The RRA seemed similar to the armalite, but used cheaper fal mags. Id get the RRA LAR 8

  • @SonofLiberty1990 Ive been eyeballing them, looked at the colt in the 16 inch 308, it feels good. light wieght and if i need longer barrel in the 20 to 22 inch then you can just switch them out. 308 you can effectivily hunt or defend yourself with it. Its proven round all around the world and look at UK Royal Marines , there back into the 308 in Afghanastan. Up mountains down Mountains dosnt matter.

  • For those looking for long range shooting, they offer a 26" heavy barrel in the "Varmit" version. I plan on ordering one in the next month. It will be my deer rifle.

  • @mimixownzall

I just bought one yesterday. Exactly as you described. Super heavy 26 inch bull barrel. At 11.6 lbs empty, it's the heaviest gun I own, and is a beast to lug around. My main purpose for it is target shooting. Maybe one day I'll get to fire it at something that moves, but I'm not expecting a whole lot of agility/mobility with this thing.

  • its 308? well that takes away the only thing i don't like about the ar15

  • @BALJIT147 I know, right?

  • how mutch are the new ones go for???"the 20inch barrel"

  • @jigglejack100 - got mine for $1300

  • Sigh; if only there was a piston style .308 AR. I don't like DI

  • @Wabaanimkii the di guns work really well you only need a piston gun if you are going to shoot thousands of rounds without cleaning but i understand the prefence but i own several di guns and had no probs

  • @Wabaanimkii lwrc has the REPR ar 10 thats gas piston. but it costs something like 3500 bucks.

  • @Wabaanimkii There is... POF (Patriot Arms) makes great piston driven .308s. They will run you a pretty penny but they are top of the line all the way.

  • can you switch to four rail with the 16" carbine version. new to AR's and trying to get one that shoots .308's

  • @lwrder2004

Yes you can. Many different companies sell quad rails.

  • How does this compare in quality/accuracy etc to the DPMS panther 308? If you have had experience with both. Thanks

  • I wish I could get my hands on one of these and compare against the Armalite Super SASS and the LWRC REPR.

  • Hi. i was thinking to buy one LR-308, mostly for long range purposes, but i'm confused. How much affects the range a barrel of 24'' 18'' or less, when you try to reach 600 or 700 meters with accuracy?..If i want maximum distance with accuracy, wich barrel is the right one?..

  • @lorddinaire If you are going for long ranges such as 500+ I suggest the longer barrel. Also take into consideration what type of upper you use. Go for a free floating barell as this will increase your accuracy, but ammo will play a big role for distances such as this. Not sure what you wish to hit at that distance but remember that you will lose a significant amount of velocity. So if you are hunting, take fragmentation into consideration. Happy shooting!!

  • Thank god theres no Cod fanboys who know nothing about guns I look at comments to see anything else he left behind.Like I searched Model 1887 and mostly all the videos were call of duty. But the AR-15 is my weapon of choice.Great gun.But if your looking for a self defense weapon.Glocks are the best choice

  • how much first bid 500

  • @tecslayer1 expect to pay a bit over $1000 dollars for one of these rifles.

  • how do these Rifles preform at distances like 500 + meters? Can one of these be a designated marksmans rifle?

  • @testbooster

    well, yes

  • @GunWebsites Does the Springfield Armory Standard M1A have anything on this, or vice versa? Comparing the Standard M1A to a stock 20 inch barrel version.

  • Does it take ar10 mags

  • magpul makes mags for the sr25-mk11 and since ive herd that the FAL mags jam i was wondering if the lar 8 can take those mags from the sr25

  • @BallisticCactus to my knowledge magpulmags fitt. Mk11/M110, KAC SR-25, DPMS LR-308, LMT 7.62 MRP, Larue Tactical OBR, LWRC REPR, POF P-308. The magazines are NOT compatible with Armalite AR-10 RRA Lr8 or M14/M1A variant rifles.

  • Pretty damn sweet. I want one but I hate the blow back system the AR uses... don't shit where you eat.

  • @YouMockMe

lol.. kinda like, dont shit in your own backyard?

if your enjoy recoil, YT search: .700

to watch some funny arabs get knocked back on their asses. A persian(non-arab) could of handled it ;) but the one guy who actually shows, is a tall european guy

  • I rather meant the gas system, not the recoil. I would take a SIG 556 over an AR any day. First reason is the gas system, second is the bolt. I don't like the AR bolts and the SIG bolt looks and acts similar to an AKs.

Also I have seen that video and the only one to stand up to it was the old dude, mountain main (hell yeah).

  • @youmockme

They have mods you can use to replace that system. Its a rod system like the AK47 uses. You can buy anything for AR style weapons. No reason to buy shitty stamped steal/wood weapons that cannot be modified nowhere near what an AR can be

  • I think my next gun might be a .308 AR15, very nice

  • isnt it called ar10 if it is an .308? isnt it? just wanna know....

  • usually thats the way it goes, but saying ".308 AR15" works for most people

  • @dimgl19- Armalite owns the name rights of the AR-10 so Rock River had to call it something else and they named their .308 the LAR-8. Rock River also calls their AR-15 the LAR-15. Just like Smith and Wesson's AR is the MP15, Ruger's is the SR-556, etc.

  • i knew that... i was only complaining about calling an 10 a 15...

  • Is this a standard hunting carabine?

  • You could use it for hunting

  • Thanks for the review. I'm getting the .308 AR bug so I'm just getting into the whole DPMS, Armalite, RRA debate.

    Thanks again!

  • anything but DPMS. they buy all their parts from other companies and just smush them all together to make their guns. thats why they're cheap!! not good. i would go with Armalite.

  • DPMS has a lot of quality issues. They are fine for the range, but I would never put my life on the line with a DPMS honestly. Just some advice. CMMG makes a nice 6.5SPC and Grendel option for extra hit power, not sure about .308 though. I would go RRA if that is what you are looking for.

  • @HatrXx78 Never had a single problem out of my DPMS AR. Nor do I know anyone that's ever heard of "quality issues".

  • lol....yah having fun with the camra...nather good vid...:}

  • thanks

  • haha whats with the twisting at the end?

  • that is how we plan to win the 'creativity / special effects' awards..

they do give out awards don't they ??

    LOL

really just to mix it up..

  • About how much do they cost

  • thats how the bolt release should be on all ar-15's

  • I think so too .. Surprised Rock River hasn't scaled this down to 5.56x45 already

  • how many rounds can it carry? and can the gas block be replaced or is it fixed?

  • well anything can be replaced, just has pins like other AR rifles

These use regular un-modified FAL mags, aren't they 20 rounds?

  • Where is the safety on this gun?

  • same switch / lever as an AR15, and in the same place (left side of receiver)

  • So it's not truly ambidextrous.

  • the mag release and bolt hold open are, the safety is not, correct

I assume you could do a ambi-modification to the safety though and it would be almost totally ambidexterious

  • I had my RRA LAR-8 16" built with the ambi-safty for just a little added cost. My son's all shoot lefty (right hand- left eye) . This is truely an ambidextrous weapon.
