  • thumbs up if you are watching this on Australia Day :D

  • Best Speech ever! :) People say bad things it's because they have no spiritual feeling in them and are belong to nothing. bunch of floating logs.... float here float everywhere.

  • G'day Mate....Paul Keating was one of the best prime Minister, Australia ever had.

Aussie...Aussie...Aussie....ohi...ohi...ohi. Go labour party.....long live Australia. love you.

  • Piss off all you bloody trolls, go back to worshipping your hero Abbott at the altar.

  • fuck labour and it's junkies,welfare bludgers,abo's,boaties,uni wankers

  • More empty words from those self righteous knobs in the Labor Party, from arguably the biggest knob of all.

  • Ahhhh Keating, You mean none of what you say and laugh at most of what you hear.

  • & you brought the jesus

  • I'm sure there are a few poor fools that felt good for A COUPLE OF MINUTES over there in the land of OZ.

Australia's "Sorry Day" is a grotesque fucking joke.

"Sorry, I'm just going to continue raping you"

"Sorry, we're just going to carry on as usual. you are un-people. Sorry"

  • @Costign

    Ok smart ass,

I ask you?, when are the abo's having a "Sorry Day" for the ‘ORIGINAL OWNERS’ of the land, the Mungo people or the Negritos and the Pygmies?.

Or what happened to Australia's original MegaFuana, which coincidentally disappeared when the abo's turned up. The Negritos had lived here for upto 20,000 years and managed to not wipeout the ecosystem.

Anyways, you spin your "affirmative action" BS just know that people are becoming aware of Australia Multinational-Issues ;)

  • @ReapTheRippers1

Try putting the crack-pipe down before you write something, you daft racist.

  • @Costign

I had to laugh at the crack pipe statement :), it shows nothing of your knowledge, and everything about your ignorance. After all the government paid out 10million dollars of tax payers money for 2.7million dollars in funding for Aboriginal home ownership, seems like a fair swap???

Do some research on the matter you ignorant drip fed battery hen.

  • @ReapTheRippers1 And you think that fixes everything?

  • @Neenuvra

    Sad troll is sad....

It fixes nothing that's the point, its just pissing in the wind.

Either way... Fuck off and stop trolling with your pointless "spray and pray" comment, if you are going to reply to someone at least address the issue rather than a silly blanket response.

  • @Costign It's a complex situation. For the last 30 years WE have tried to reconcile the damage done to Australia's Aboriginals from colonial times. Furthermore I agree it's sickening what's happening in indigenous, rural areas and that something more needs to be done but it is complicated. All u need to do is look up the history of "self determination" policies to find out how hard both aboriginal and non aboriginal Australians have fought over the previous decades for equality and development.

  • c now y cant america b a man and apologize 4 wat we did to the native americans seems like australia has more ball and take respoisblites 4 its actions than america ever will

  • White people are evil

  • @takadi All people are capable of evil. The situation experienced by indigenous Australians is just one the many horrific examples from history of ethnic cleansing and cultural imperialism, perpetrated by one group on another. "White people" certainly do not have anywhere near close to monopoly on this kind of thing.

  • Top three cop outs white people use

    1. Every race has committed acts of evil

No race has come even close to the efficiency of the white man when it comes to enslavement, conquest, colonization, and genocide. Just look at the dominance of the white man across the world

    2. Without white people, you wouldn't have any awesome technology

Not only is this in retrospect but you have to ask: at what cost?

    3. White people are just militarily superior, we won and you lost

At least this one is honest

  • @takadi You so racist. Only one of your arguments is relevant to my comment and a terrible argument at that. Define "white people" btw. There are various ethnic groups that could be loosely defined as Caucasian, all without almost any perceptible genetic difference to any other "race", but vast historical cultural differences compared to even some close "white" neighbors.

  • @divideandmultiply

Yes I am extremely racist and prejudice, if only against the white man. I'm am completely at ease having complete and utter comtempt for the most evil breed of animal, let alone human being, ever to exist on this planet

  • @takadi . Most ethnic groups have committed horrific acts upon others at sometime throughout their history (see the Mongols conquest of most of the Asian continent plus small parts of Europe, or China's various periods of internal strife, or Japan's actions in WW2, ancient Egypts conquest of neighbors etc).

For recent examples of genocide see Cambodia, Turkish and the Armenians, Iraqis and Kurds, Sri Lanka and Tamils etc. Your logic is beyond specious. People generally suck, regardless of race

  • Comment removed

  • Ahh and thus the predictable responses begin. All the examples you point to are of mostly "intraracial" conflicts. The death and destruction the white man has committed against himself, much less the entire world, is a magnitude greater than anything genghis khan could have dreamed of. For every straw you grasp for other races, I can find ten more the white man has done. Yes indeed humans suck, but the white man is the most despicable of all.

  • @takadi How are they "interracial"? Regardless, race is an arbitrary man made concept with commonly held definitions having little scientific merit.

I hope you are a troll, if not you have my sympathy.

  • 0:44 What a remarkable boong! Pure blood aborigines in particuar bear a nobility, perhaps before of the desert, or of isolation from an arbitrary imperative to compete for fractions and per centile sums, one can but stand in awe of.

  • The moron below me will someday vote.

  • Paul Keating was a smart guy, shit prime minister.

  • When Keating says "We", who is he referring to?

In seeking to dispell racism, he relies on a biological or national unity that doesn't exist. To say "we" is to belong to the same racism that gives rise to the injustice in the first place.

  • @JustinFromSydney you're deliberately complicating the issue...with a weak argument in any case.

Its a simple acknowledgement of historical wrongdoing. You don't see Aboriginals declaring Australian law invalid and taking away non-indigenous children as a result now do you?

  • @emangi1 - On what basis though, does he seek to claim that he is part of "we", other than by relying on the same racial assumption that gave rise to the injustice in the first place?

  • @JustinFromSydney mate, seriously, how about "we" = the government if you really care that much about a simple pronoun. I don't understand your accusation of self-racism. That "racial assumption" was that the Aboriginal people would eventually die out as an inferior race. I can't for the life of me see how this speech somehow inverts that kind of thinking onto non-indigenous people. "Paranoid" best describes people who honestly believe that.

  • @emangi1 - How about at 0:15 he says "we non - aboriginal australians". Fail.

  • @JustinFromSydney sure. Reduce the whole issue into adolescent dodge-ball if you want. "Ignorance is bliss" right? Keating recognised, Rudd apologised and that's fine by me. Build a bridge and get over it.

  • @emangi1 - Keating recognised in a racist way. Rudd apologised in a highly religious "christian" way. Rudd's motivation was one of religious underpinning. Literally because "jesus believes in saying sorry". Both are flawed. Both are disgusting.

  • @JustinFromSydney have a cry. I couldn't care less if you found Brussels sprouts disgusting let alone anything else. Must be sad being such a sensitive deadbeat.

  • @emangi1 - Trollol lol lol lol

  • @JustinFromSydney gave up easily eh?

  • @emangi1 - For a troll, yes you did.

  • @JustinFromSydney how very interesting. I thought you were mature.

  • @emangi1 - Mature troll is mature.

  • @JustinFromSydney

I don't think that was racist. Could you explain what your saying?

  • Don't hear speeches like that these days!

  • Paul Keating is a has been....

  • @trueblueaus1488 you're a never was

  • HELLO 9C

    LOVEEEE MITCH

  • Simply the finest speech ever made in this country.

If only we had the empathy, conscience and courage to act upon it.

  • @MrKommodius 19 years later and we still cant. So sad.

  • You are actually retarded. You've got to have some weak ass insecurities to feel the need to lose your shit over other people that have nothing to do with you. And who you obviously know nothing about. I am so grateful to be born in Australia and that the aboriginal people have suffered for that to happen. I will gladly have all my taxes go to welfare for people that have been shat on by ungrateful cocksuckers like yourself.

  • Very good speech much better than kevin's

  • Hallelujah!

  • If this post don't knock ya fuckin' socks off, it sure as hell should!!! This address alone, in my opinion, was enough to get the Majority to swing further to the right, and ULTIMATELY get Howard elected!!!

Paul Keating, The GREATEST FUCKING Prime Minister this Country's ever had!!!

  • @tittymumma Because you made them so through your pathetic ignorance, racism and disenfranchisement!!

Are you so stupid to think that people who for over 45.000 years did very well before the illegal european immigrants came suddenly succumb to apathy despair and drug abuse?

ITS UNREAL THAT PATHETIC HUMANS LIKE YOU ARE STILL AROUND YOU UGLY WHITE TRASH PIECE OF SHIT!

I HATE YOU AND I AM SICK OF GARBAGE LIKE YOU! YOU ARE AN INSULT TO THE COMBINED GENE POOL OF HUMANITY!! FUCK YOU AND DIE!!

  • @ReleaseJulianAssange He is Great!!!

    Beatiful speach!

  • @tittymumma Yeah the guy below is right. You're a dick.

  • @tittymumma you are a pig

  • Howardisaliar my msn in profile! Paul Keating - The Redfern Address - Australian Labor Party

  • *cries*

  • The Greatest PM ever. During his time we truly could call ourselves an immigrant country. When howard came in we turned into Britons cousins again. He was the only PM that embraced our diversity and spoke of it highly.

It could've been because of his Catholic-Irish background, I don't know. But he represented Australia like no other PM has.

  • What I like about him is that he put all those Law students and pretentious Uni kids that horde Parliament House to shame, and brought in the voice of an intelligant and decent man, who had a sense of knowing what truly is right and what truly is wrong, real conviction, something that we miss in the poll-driven politics of today.

  • Good on you Paul...If he was still PM we might have a treaty by now...and a new flag and republic!!!

  • @Mashbolt Hear - hear - the voice is growing. Strength!!

  • Keating was a fantastic PM. He had brains, vision, courage, and a thorough knowledge of how the country runs. Without him, Australia would not be where it is today, it is a shame that people don't pay him more respect and acknowledge his amazing work in Parliament over the years.

  • John Howard saw red when he heard this. Is it so hard to say sorry? For him, yes. Who had greater room in his heart, Keating or Howard? Says it all!!!

  • Wish he was still PM....had vision and a sharp tongue which kept politics interesting in it self as opposed to the "interest" the media now pushes. It was he who had the fore thought and policy for which we are reaping now.

  • an amazing and powerful speech.

  • I wonder if this Koorja is having fun living back in the 19th century. Dopey backward bastard!

  • @InformationMinister Who said I was a white South African WTF? Abos are such a sad case they want us to pity them nad feel sorry ofr them then they say they're a strong people who can stand on their own two feet. Which is it?

  • @koorja1 I don't recall seeing Indigenous elders suggesting they can bring back all the customs, history and language that was destroyed. And yes as far as i'm concerned you're south African, you don't deserve to be called an Aussie you backward wanker!

  • @InformationMinister lol well I'm not South African, and this whole issue of reconciliation is about a bunch of half-caste pretenders trying to cash in on the suffering of passed generations solely based on racial grounds.

  • @koorja1 "a bunch of half-caste pretenders trying to cash in on the suffering of passed generations solely based on racial grounds" Last time i checked you dense bastard, many of the stolen generation are still alive. So no, not past, but present generations.

  • @InformationMinister I was talking about the younger generations douchebag, that aren't part of the stolen generation but still base their problems on the suffering of other people decades ago

  • @koorja1 Yeah younger generations? Who do you think their parents and grandparents are? And if their father was one of the stolen generation, then thats their fathers family history they know nothing of. So yes, like it or not they are victims of the same event. Wanker! get a fuckin clue seriously.

  • @InformationMinister lol So a race of people should pin their problems on the happenings of their grandparents, that's just pathetic. If that was the case, every race would need compensation from at least 1 government in this world

  • @koorja1 I never said they should now did I? But nevertheless they were directly affected by what happened to their parents and grandparents. Now stop being such a docile little bitch and smarten the fuck up you dense bastard. And whoever said anything about compensation??? I didn't so why the fuck are you bringing it up? Stay on topic you stupid bastard.

  • dont talk about it keating , bloody do something , your the prime minister for christs sake , another opportunity missed .

  • A true statesmen .. God I wish he was still Prime Minister

  • The real apology. Keating was our greatest PM.

  • @koorja1 You're an ignorant fool. Saying there's not one full blooded Aborigine there is just plain stupid. Being Aboriginal is not a matter of fractions, you either are or you aren't. Acts in our shared past may not have actually been our own fault, or that of our ancestors, but in my opinion the true mark of an honourable person is one who is able to empathise and understand.

  • @phillipcanham Actually being a fraction white is important as its hypocritical to go on blaming whites when their own ancestors were no different and they wouldn't exist without white people. You either are or your aren't? Have you ever heard of mixed-race?

  • Imagine a PM with vision and guts...

  • @Mjainoz just imagine......ALP never been the same mate.

  • A massive step forward, thankyou Paul Keating :)

  • I didn't see one full-blooded aborigine in that crowd, bunch of hypocrites

  • @koorja1 if u think ur so tough bad mouthing abbos on u tube try taking a walk through the block and see what they do to u there

  • Comment removed

  • @Ihatedawannabes No I don't think I will walk through the block, I'll come out the other end without a wallet and smelling like petroleum

  • We also built the buildings, We made the law, We developed the hospitals, We brought in the welfare system & aboriginal services aimed at helping them. At what point do people help themselves? You can lead a horse to water but cant make them drink. Im sick of this white guilt business that Keating perpetuates and results in reverse racism. No wonder this guy was turfed so quickly. Its not my fault other people did wrongs

  • @AlienBusDriver 'We' built the buildings, but it's not 'your' fault. Don't accept responsibility for one side then deny it for the other. If it's not your fault that wrongdoings were committed, it is also not your acts that brought forward welfare, roads and hospitals. Funny that Aboriginal people managed to survive more than 50 000 years without roads, hospitals and welfare agencies.

  • @phillipcanham Yepppppp white people built the buildings, that does not make me personally at fault for what happen to the abos. Wrongdoings? WTF if they weren't so fucking hopeless and bad parents there would be no wrongdoings u leftist dog. 'managed to survive' being the keypoint. Managed to survive in a society of no hospitals, no law and no rights, incest was legal then and you're trying to tell me this was good, your a joke and I can tell by your name your at least 40

  • @AlienBusDriver lol, I'm 26 you tool. But I'm not the kind of person to hide behind some fake name either, I make my comments under a real name because I stand by them. Hopeless parents? If you look into how Aboriginal children were brought up before whitefella's came to Australia you'd probably find it better than what is currently happening. There were laws, rights and traditions, but you're probably the kind of narrow-minded redneck that thinks your way of life is the only way. Try learning.

  • @phillipcanham Oh thats right Perceive yourself to have a higher intelligence than someone because they dont agree with your point of view what an ENLIGHTENED conclusion. And further evidence of your genius using YOUR REAL NAME ON THE INTERNET LOL if you even understood the very medium you were on you would realize why you are a fool but alas. OK il trade you redneck for bleeding nigger lover. fair deal I say. So being brought up without basic medical care is 'better' than now, another LOL

  • Comment removed

  • How did he loose to Howard? What a joke.

  • @sophilianate quite easily, cause he is a twat, Howard's awesome

  • @koorja1 Howard is scum,

  • @sophilianate Howard had a back bone, didn't bow down to the coons every whim they get enough mony to spend on grog and petrol to sniff

  • @koorja1 You're a racist fuckhead, nobody should listen anything you have to say about politics. Howard was scum, that's it.

  • @sophilianate Howard told it like it was, that's it. And I'm not racist I just don't like political correctness......and abos

  • @koorja1 Well that negates your political opinion anyway, get some political correctness and maybe then I'll actually respect your opinion. Howard didn't tell it like it was, his government lied to the australian public about the children overboard scandel. If anything, keating told it like it was.

  • @sophilianate Keating was a wank sock

  • @sophilianate Howard didn't bow down to a mob demanding an apology for something he didn't do, good on him

  • @koorja1 It's not apologising for something he didn't do, it's what it represents. To have government acknowledging their past mistakes and wrongs. You have no political correctness or factual information to give, and thus I don't respect your opinion.

  • @sophilianate What it represents? Millions more dollars in compensation is what it represents

  • @koorja1 Stolen land, genocidal acts, destruction of a culture, the reduction of its indigenous people to the status of refugees in their own country, ---

None of this warrants some form of compensation? Do you honestly think any kind of compensation could repair the damage that mighty whitey has done to this land and its people? You think that fucking money undwer-writes everything?? Are you and people like you so fucking shallow???

  • @koorja1 No amount of money could ever properly compensate for the damage done to the Indigenous people of this country at the hands of Mighty Whitey. Stolen and despoiled land, barbaric genocidal acts, near-destroyed culture, families torn apart, denigrated and insulted - so what's this fucking "millions in compensation" you apparently don't believe appropriate?

Given the choice I'd imagine that, instead of money, our Indigenous people would prefer everyone else just fuck off from their land.

  • @Blackgeoff1 If no amount of money is possibly enough, then why bother paying it, they're only going to spend it on grog and piss the rest down the drain

  • how come keating never apologised?

  • @AussiePolitics I think this was much better then a apologiy, it's not like saying sorry ba ba ba. He really putting mean for it.

  • @Alucardthedeadone if that was better than why did the aborigines want to hear a pm say sorry so badly? its funny isnt it how keating didnt care to give an apology until AFTER he lost the election

  • @AussiePolitics Well what is a sorry really going to do? The PM is going to say sorry and then say hay we said but we want ur land because you guys have copper and gold. If the aborigines and all people want a better more free australia we need a big over run of our government and I don't mean a republic.

  • Ah.. ich glaube, ich weiß worum es hier geht... hehe Paul Keatung ist der Premierminister Australiens :-))

  • I miss PAul Keating Like I miss my trustydog old dog of 16 years.

His vision and brillance was miles ahead of the rest.

Rudd is a wuss. Show some balls man.

  • Great prime Minister who gets no credit for reforming the australian economy. The U.S.A need someone like Paul Keating, but, it won't happen for a long term. They will just continue with band aid politics.

  • yeah give back the land and save ur breath

  • so so so true. A politician who spoke the truth. But allot of us only vote for people who say things we like to hear, only to find out words ofen count for nothing.

Like our 'ol mate Krudd.... Why do we do as politicans say? WE ARE THE PEOPLE!! so few rule over so many. I wish we would all come together and fight back!! Revolution Time!

    Much Respect.

  • It's a curse app-on us colonialist who deny the past and do nothing in apathy, shame and guilt.

It time to ask for forgiveness from the land and or the people and forgive yourselves and fight racism and genocide and assimilation.we are one, one love

  • @nikpixie I've done nothing wron so theres nothing to forgive, many of my ancestors didn't have much choice in the matter coming out here...bloody hippy

  • What happened in the past is worse than most of us could imagine. They're not called the killing times for nothing...

There's NOTHING that can make up for what happened, but we can at least try to make up for what happens today.

Every white Australian should read Henry Reynolds' books 'Why Weren't We Told' and 'This Whispering In Our Hearts'.

  • this guy dropped out of school when he was only 15. he is a fucking genius

  • legend

  • yeah i was there the day he done that speech

    and its better than Rudds..

  • And like Rudds speech purely symbolic and a vote catcher.

More is being spent on housing illegal immigrants than housing aboriginal people.

  • Credit where its due, but I dont think any of us can genuinely view, in retrospect, what 18th 19th 20th & 21st century Australia was/is like through the eyes of indiginous Australians. History is what it is, especially hitherto, white and black Australians are still far from reaching a true and lasting commonality.

  • briiliant edit! brilliant speech!

  • Ideologically Keating is the best labor prime minister, because all his best ideas are not left wing ones:

    - Floating the Dollar

    - Support for GST before changing his mind

    - Reducing Tariffs on Imports

    - Removing Centralised wage fixing

    - Deregulation

    - Privatisation (Qantas/Comm-Bank)

As for comments about Keating being so compassionate, he introduced mandatory detention for asylum seekers.

Our best Labor PM - the Liberal pretending to be a Union Heavy.

  • i don't really see that with KEating. his economic policies weren't as so concerned with being 'egalitarian' but rather realistic. so i don't think it's as black and white as you make it out to be, he doesn't hold those socio-economical hierarchy attitudes that most Liberals do, the man grew up in Bankstown and was a school drop out, hardly what makes a Liberal. same thing could be said for Brendan Nelson in reverse

  • It is obviously not a black and white issue politics rarely is, but if we where to list alot of the policies of Hawke and Keating on a piece of paper then alot of them are anti-union and they copped alot of flack for them within their own party.

Labor succeded where the Liberals probably never could, in the culling of the far left and the slow drift towards the center. If a liberal tried to pass these policies they would be viewed much like Howard is today.

  • i suppose that's true, i'm watching Q&A right now and Hockey is taking a load of crap. i guess you're right that people often overlook the nature of these kind of policies just because someone like Keating has the historical capacity to empaphise with those core demographics

  • Paul said it better than Kevin Rudd.Without all the fanfair and media frenzy

  • Fine and intelligent speech.

  • well done - important record of australian history.

  • Comment removed

  • A great speech from a great Prime Minister, the best since Whitlam.

However, I don't appreciate trying to prop up the speech with music in this video. It destroys the rhetoric and the cadence when you try and give it a soundtrack.

  • A brilliant speech given by the great Prime minister, Paul Keating.History will judge him as one of the greats.

  • Bring Keating back!!!

What a legend. I constantly quote this speech to people. We had so much potential at providing some REAL reconciliation before that Howard c*nt came along.

I am disgusted and ashamed of not only our disgraceful past, but our STILL disgraceful present.

What is wrong with this damn country? Let's wake up to ourselves Australia!

  • Big Paul, riding high across the pages of Australian history. A man with economic intelligence and a conscience...

  • thanks for the email its good to see many others who think the same, and that I am not the only one

  • Just magnificent. P J Keating was the greatest Prime Minister of this nation. He was a visionary, he was ahead of this time. However the very qualities that made him great were his downfall. The average Aussie just didn't get it. I miss him.

  • Here here!! WOW I've never seen this before, it gave me chills! You say Paul Keating was the greatest Prime Minister of this nation...you may be right!

  • words cannot replace the damage that has been done, only cover it......

  • Greatest Prime minister ever.

  • @btbking Bit of an arsehole really dont you think?

  • @btbking - WTF ? I guess you have been smoking crack cocaine again..............

  • we deserved howard for being a nation composed of trash like you. and it is a testament to that he was a brilliant politician - with a crowd of fools to play to - for being able to sit in office for 11 years without doing, well, anything much (okay, gst was a big reform. what else? tax cuts? wow, good work johnny) and be proclaimed a great leader. while keating reforms our economy, makes us strong, and looks to the future... and gets discarded for being "unaustralian"

  • SS, all cultures on earth apart from australian aborigines and the maoris in NZ have been exposed to alcohol for 7,000 years. that it is such a deeply ingrained cultural icon makes it, i guess, less immediately devastating - though white people still behave disgracefully on alcohol all the time.

anyhow, your comments show why australia gets the govt's it does. if our populace is made up of people like you, we don't deserve visionary leaders like keating.

  • im sorry if i offended your fascist views of the world but you have to face the fact that your a fucking moron and its because of people like you that there are so many things wrong with our world, and maybe you should get your facts right first and realise that im definitely not a liberal, but far from it, so just return to your neo nazis cult and piss off

  • how dare you say such racist things when it is clearly apparent that a great injustice has been done to the aboriginal people and that it is the fault of the ignorance of people just like you that caused this injustice, so fu** you

  • Comment removed

  • You clearly know nothing of European politics and history and less of life in Australia.

Your attitude is not popular in this country, where most people of European origin want to form stronger bonds and mutual understanding with indigenous Australians. In friendship, we can move forward together in a way that respects culture and country so that everyone has a chance to live to their full potential. This is for the betterment of all.

Your view is shallow, thoughtless and good for no one.

  • OrbitTime: comprised of 100% fail.

  • SSbombout, you fail.

  • Australians need to wake up , there is no treaty or contract signed with or for the Australian originals . As a matter of fact this land they call Australia is still being governed by British law . Watch Mark Mcmurtrie lessons in law 1,2,3 and British legal scam 1,2,3 there is colourful language used but the topic and Marks passion is proof enough for it to be taken very seriously.

  • nice speech but keating never said sorry. he had plenty of time after this speech too.

it took a long time for aboriginals to gain equal rights, but it also took a long struggle for gender equality and anti discrimination. we are an evolving world still learning. people need to be forgiven for past events and we should look towards a fair and equal society where no one is disadvantaged indigenous or not. we are lucky to be a democracy.

  • SSbombardment1488 would you say that to a blackfellas face you little motherfucker i wouldnt mind throwin a spear at you ya little racist bastard

  • What happened to traditional Conservative values like fiscal responsibility? Preserving the Constitution? Opposing big government? What happened to social conservatism?

What really conservatives still stand for? Opposing abortion, opposing gun control, opposing the environment, opposing civil rights, opposing homosexuality, opposing people with Islamic beliefs. You support religion in politics, support school prayer, support creationism and support military spending... But never serve.

  • Howard and Costello's 11-year tenure saw us squander the benefits of a mining boom in favour of electoral advantage through corporate and middle class welfare at the expense of much needed infrastructure to secure our economic prosperity. Now thanks to those morons we have inflationary pressures, lowered productivity levels, and are facing a recession in the near future.

  • Thank God for the forward-thinking Rudd government, you're right we may not going into recession because of the course of action the PM has chosen to take. Remember Nudenuts, it does not matter how long it has taken to build a surplus a recession can wipe it out very quickly. It does not matter which party is in government at present either would have to adapt to the global economic downturn. The downturn did not originate here, but it will hurt us.
