To clear up the "Less EXP" part, Ranged heroes get LESS EXP from denied creeps compared to Melee heroes.

That's to balance out the effective exp gain because ranged heroes have a wider circle of influence, meaning they can last hit and deny without putting themselves in unnecessary trouble.

The part of Magebane killing through puppet show is because the mana burn is a bonus damage.. It's the same for Savage mace, Flint's hollow bullets and Predator's carnivorous.
