No one will read this because this video is over two years old but.. we did this for fun, not really as a showcase of skill or anything. I don't think we ever had a practice where everyone showed up, most of the time it was like 5 or 6 of us just messing around. Not an excuse, but we didn't practice as much as we could have haha.
Also, our string bass and bassoon were basically sightreading and one of our trumpets was a baritone horn! Still, it was fun.
I fear you guys lost me on this version. There's a high school band with a video on YT called EHS Jazz Band that you should look at. They play Tank! slower but they hit the marks better.
ABC sounds more like a marching band and less like the gripping jazz that Kanno was aiming for.
Criticism aside, I'm glad that you gave it a try. If it takes anime soundtracks to get kids into jazz, I shan't complain.
In the case of THIS particular OST, it actually worked the other way around for me. I watched Cowboy Bebop originally because I heard Yoko Kanno was composing.
HAHAHAHAHAH! i almost fell out of my chair laughing. i just watch the EHS version and they did terrible (i'm not saying that they should have done as well as the ORIGINAL since that was a recording, but why play the song if you can't play it?).

please work on articulation. what are the trumpets doing back there? dont play masato hondas solo please. especially the altissimo bro. try working on tritones and scales with articulation tongue two slur two etc.
are you kidding me? i doubt you could do better. if you post a video of yourself or you in your jazz band doing better, i'll eat my words but for now, like skepticalmouse said, it was for fun. leave them alone.
wow this brings back memories of how we winged it haha

Eeeeh... The "anime" isn't for kids... at least, not Cowboy Bebop...
But I agree with you...

The best part of this song is the saxophone.
It's also the hardest, though.
And it's always a pity if it's not played well like in this video. :(
Practice more, jazzman!!

Ech...it was okay. When they started to play at first, I had no idea what it was. After the voice, it started to come together...

If you're going to play Masato Honda's transcribed alto solo, at least do justice to it by playing it well.
