The reason the A's don't get the credit they deserve for winning three World Series in a row is that they really never had a national following like the Big Red Machine. The Reds were just legandary. The A's deserve their due but playing in a weak divison and pathetic attendance by Oakland fans during their Championship run didn't help.
Monte Moore....the voice of my Kansas-City-area youth. "3 and 2 and a big one due". "Oh, he hit that one a country mile". "Johnny Lee Bluemoon Odom". "The Cuban forkball". "Boy, Tartabull can fly!"
It's criminal that a team that won three World Series in a row get as little recognition as the A's do/did. Five straight division titles, three straight world titles, and Hall of Famers everywhere...Reggie, Rollie, Catfish. Unbelievable.
@BatmanFan1966 Trillo wasn't actually on the roster. When Andrews made two errors in the 12th inning of game 2, Finley (jerk) tried to coerce Andrews into signing a statement saying his shoulder was injured & then was going to replace him with Trillo. Baseball's higher ups cried foul, of course, and it didn't happen. However, Williams announced his resignation before the end of the Series, as he couldn't stomach Finley's meddling any longer.
@stevedrums Yes, Ray Fosse was bowled over by Pete Rose in the 1970 All Star Game. I find it interesting that Ray Fosse wasn't warming up the starting pitcher Ken Holtzman and instead ran onto the field with his teammates during introductions. That's something you wouldn't see today.
@roseandbench pathetic hitting, but not pitching. Good pitiching wins short series. the Mets had 4 solid starters- Seaver, Matlack, Koosman and George Stone, plus Tug McGraw in Bullpen. The Reds had great hitting but lousy pitching.

Oakland deserves more credit.

@cbaldwinjr I agree. It's only because they were the 'Oakland A's' and not the 'New York A's'.

Never knew Manny Trillo, part of the 1980 Phillies championship team, was a member of the '73 Swingin' A's club.... Good old Catfish Hunter, R.I.P.

Never knew that Reggie saw time in CF. Wasn't Ray Fosse the one who Pete Rose bowled over in the All-Star Game??

The Cincinnati Reds should have been there. What a pathetic 1973 Mets team.
