  • I like this version of the Beatles's classic.

  • Robert Smith looks pretty darn bored there. Definitely don't blame him. Playing the guitar with his hand positioned upside down was a nice touch.

  • Stunning, song, stunning cover, stunning lady, stunning voice, not sure about the guitarist

  • @bibsteenson The Guitarist on the right? yeah... looks a little flaky. I give him a month! lol

  • @crabbieappleton...UK-tour,but not in the band during the next EUROPE-tour.because he´s getting back his interests to keep the cure alive and to work on the new album "the top".so he left siouxsie and the banshees i think at may´84 to push the cure on the next level.but siouxsie was not amused about that.

but both bands had big hits with "dear prudence"&"let´s go to bed".hope i could help to answer your question.greetings

  • @crabbieappleton robert smith was with the cure in the charts ´83 with the "7inch single "let´s go to bed" and also guest at top of the pops.siouxsie was searching for a guitar-player and robert smith was with siouxsie and the banshees on their next world-tour on board.at the beginning of ´84 smith was working on the new the cure album "the top",but also involved into the works to siouxsie&the banshees new album "hyena".and it was too much for him.and he tolds siouxsie to play with them the

  • Is this Robert Smith of the Cure or Robert Smith of Siouxsie and the Banshees? I'm too lazy to look up when he was part of their line-up.

  • Lol, she stops lip-syncing at one point and Roberts playing the guitar upside down.

  • of the best bands in the world just fine for connoisseurs in Mexico and the hope would be fantastic kisses to all members to record new material

  • This video is the definition of the 1980's

  • @Kaneownzu I wish that had been the case. I listened to the Banshees in the '80s. However, most people in the US were listening to Hall and Oats, Lionel Ritchie, Phil Collins and Madonna. Other than Billy Idol, and some of the early American punk groups like Blondie, few of the 70s punkers had much impact on the charts in the 80s.

  • Robert Smith such a smartarse lol

  • Yes we all know it's a Beatles cover, so what.

  • She is Sandman! hahaha

  • the kids who say this is better than the version by the god's who created it, are also the same ones who love shaking camera's zooming in out so much it makes u sick, or video's of extreme accidents etc. TTTo even think for 1/2 a second that this is superior to the Beatles, just shows how ignorantly fooled one can be when it comes to quality....i would bet 20 million dollars Siouxsie would agree, her's is done creatively and done well,,,but it pales in comparison to the original.

  • @CHUCKLOVES1969 I love a good speech

  • @Ramonajunie3 ***thanks for the remark...BUT my grammar sucks to hell,,,(but i think i made my point regardless).

  • @ToryZStarbuck ..ur comment was what???..that's okay..i just re-read what i wrote,,and take back that this version 'pales' in comparison to the original,,thats not true,,it's well done..but people,,,please,,,just realize this is a cover of the original song, the reason the did a cover of it,,was....guess?....huh?,,why?..think about it.

  • How silly all of you are who thinks this is a better version that The Beatles. Siouxie & crew turn one of the most beautiful songs into a bland piece of pop.

  • @Jessey630 NOTHING Siouxsie does is ever bland. You need your ears checked.

  • much better than the beatles effort even though they wrote it....siouxisie done it better

  • Not superior to the Beatles. Good, but in no way superior. This version is very drab and they give the song no personality.

  • This version is undoubtedly far superior to the Beatles origonal.

  • @aeronuk1

    hahahhaa shut up

  • @aeronuk1 You've obviously got shit in your ears, it's good but nowhere near far superior.

  • You bewitched me.

  • Like this version better then the original. What year was this done does anybody know.

  • Classic top of the pops performance. Lov u Siouxsie.

  • I always thought that Siouxsie Sioux and Robert Smith would be a well matched couple.

  • @SirReal1958 haha me too

  • aah there's robert

love the original but i love this version of this song as well

  • Good tune ~ good stuff ~ lessie version ~ I guess ~ good vocals though ~

  • 1.11 fail.....

  • Upsetting. I feel as though this is a disgrace to the Beatles.

  • lol they are not even trying and Robert is just taking the piss

  • Better copy of the same performance, with stronger audio and without clipping the beginning, by tacking on "watch?v=3ww-pKVClzU" after the YouTube URL (without the quotes of course).

  • her odd little dance is awesome :)

  • much better than the beatles....by far!!!!

  • i fucking love how robert smith just fucks around and shows complete unintrest in anything thats going on. it makes me laugh, because either he was making a statement, or he was to fucked up to play. eihter way i highly respect him for this video

  • Silly Emo's. And you thought you were the first. 1986 BABY.

  • bonne version du titre des Beatles ! pas mal !

  • i love her nd her very odd dance x lol

  • what's so high quality about this? The sound quality sucks.

  • Gee do ya think she is lip syncing?

  • siousxie regards the banshees and her music as not goth. It's a bit of a bracketed term for all who wear only/mostly black makeup and fancy clothes. Some are and like siouxsie (and myself ) are not... She can't help that her fans are goths and there's nothing wrong with that either.

  • this is real goth music unlike that ''emo'' music we have nowadays i think gothic music back in the day kicks asses

  • how silly they must feel not playing live and just standing there

  • @Ihuffglue91

meh, that's how those shows were then... the bands would "play", or rather lip-synch & pretend to play their instruments. I never saw the point of it, but it was nice to see them "play", although they're playing about as realistically close as they would on a music video anyway.

  • @Ihuffglue91 on the other hand they're probably totally mashed because they know they just need to mime

  • You've tagged it HQ when this is possibly the worst sound quality of all the versions of this song!!!

  • this is actually my favorite version of the song. Something so ethereal about it.....very cool. Reminds me of good 80s times.

  • Dancing like a witch on a burning fire sheet..very miraculy

  • THE REASON IT SOUNDS like the album is cause its TOP OF THE POPs and they play the records not live still good show I LOVE THE BANSHEES AND SIOUXSIE

  • She's wonderful! My favorite band! This version sounds like the one off the album, it looks mimed, but still great. Robert Smith off The Cure, another favorite band of mine.

  • I'm pretty sure Tops of Pops performances are lip synced. but still amazing to see them perform nonetheless.
