you left out the whole change convo!!! but still, better than nothing, but where has this clip been for the past two years, I can guarantee you not on youtube! I looked.
Thanks for the post. I was hoping someone would post this episode. The character City Councilman Kevin Fogerty sounds alot like Obama. Both have complete contempt for the morons voting for them. Please post his campaign speech in the bar if you have it.
Yes. So is reformer. So is country first. So is maverick.
POW is more specific, but it loses its punch when it's invoked every time McCain gets stuck on a question. I used to be a huge supporter of McCain. Now I don't even give a shit that he was a POW because he's used it to pander so much, it's lost real meaning. Plus, a guy that was a POW that has signed off on torture loses a ton of respect in my book.
Rubbish. You're not fooling anyone. You were never a serious supporter of McCain if you're willing to so easily dismiss his POW days over what you see as a vote for torture.
"So is reformer. So is country first. So is maverick."
Again, nowhere near as much as "Change". That's why they used it in this scene. Try and spin it any way you want but the fact is that the go-to slogan guaranteed to get the attention of the voting sheep has always been "Change".
Bullshit. I voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries. I was seriously disappointed when Bush got the nod, but stuck with the Reeps. Oh what a mistake that was.
Then when I saw the party coming back to their real conservative roots with him being picked this time, I was encouraged. Then he goes nuclear in his attacks and picks that dingbat as a running mate.
Read Obama's plan and you'll know the change he's talking about.
For starters: Interfering with free enterprise, various "fund" creations without any clear funding definitions, vague tax and healthcare plans. So far, it looks like he's following the liberal Democrat's tax and spend playbook to the letter. He's Carter 2.0 and his idea of change is to take us back to 1976. Thanks but no thanks.
As far as "his tax and spend" liberal policies, keep in mind that he's a UofC economist, so are most of his economic advisers. These people aren't idiots.
Regardless, let's take an overall look at the results of "tax and spend" policies.
Reagen, Bush I and Bush II all exploded the budget deficit. The last time we had a surplus was under Clinton. Give me a "tax and spend" liberal any day.
Again, no thanks. Reagan and Bush I were stuck with a Democratically controlled Congress that would not allow spending cuts. Clinton had to deal with a Republican controlled Congress that didn't allow rampant spending during the last 5 years of his term. Bush II is a mixed bag with a war and the Dems., led by that idiot Pelosi, in the majority for the last two years. As for Obama and Co., his Keynesian ideals are in direct contrast to that of the UofC so not sure who's really advising him.
So, basically, any argument I make, regardless of facts, is going to boil down to "it's all the Democrats fault".
The Republicans have had the White House the last 8 years, Congress the six of the last 8, and a very sympathetic Supreme Court and pliant Democratic party. I choose to see what that has gotten us, and I don't have to look much further than my 401k.
We can't tax cut our way to prosperity. In case you haven't noticed, our debt has reached over $10 trillion.
Blame both, Dems and Reps for that. Can't tax cut our way to prosperity? Rubbish. Control spending and stimulate business growth and personal spending via tax cuts. It works. Fact is, no one's ever taxed their way into prosperity. And BTW, weren't you the one to "chose" to look further by dragging past Presidents into this? Fact is, Dems controlled congress for the last 2 years. Pliant dem party? Where? With the devisive Pelosi and her cronies? That's what the facts say about liberal Democrats.
"So, basically, any argument I make, regardless of facts, is going to boil down to "it's all the Democrats fault"." Come on. It's not "regardless of facts" but rather as a result of them. If they speak ill of a someone's MO, so be it. And throwing out an overly simplistic take on this seems rather reckless and irresponsible. Spin all you want but clearly liberal Dems are not good for this country. Honestly, don't fall for Obama-speak without going through his proposals with more scrutiny.
I agree that both parties are at fault, and I remember the last president to have a balanced budget, Clinton. The Reps hated him and he gave us a balanced budget, pulled us out of a Bush recession, and our nation had peace and prosprerity. It didn't take long for this to all change. W was as far to the left as Obama is to the right, this leaves with the old saying two wrongs wont make things right.
@Com101smurdy You are absolutely right! The Republicans hated him and wanted to bring him down from office. Clinton was a good president, can you believe we had 2% crime rate in the entire US?! And to all those nutcase republicans who keep posting unprincipled, envious and rude comments about President Obama, can stuff it because we ALL know that you are only jealous of us Democrats and you are afraid that America will become the America it was in the 90s. Then...Bush came and ruined everything!
@BulgariaAir737 Obama isn't Clinton. Though I liked Clinton and didn't totoally agree with everything he did, I have found a whole lott less that I have liked about OBAMA.
and we've gone into the toilet the past year while under a Democratic Congress. Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac, Democratic crap that dragged our country into a huge hole. Barney Franks should be PROSECUTED! Pelosi should be kicked out on her ass! Harry Reid should just fart and go away! GET RID OF THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS THAT PROMISED TO GET OUT OF IRAQ IF VOTED IN! They got voted in and they've done NOTHING! NADA!
Clinton benefitted from Y2k preparations - it wasn't his policies that gave us surplus!
And if Clinton hadn't acquiesced in Newt's "Contract For America" even Y2k preparations might not have given Clinton "his" surplus -- Remember how Reagan bailed us our of the CARTER recession? Oh yeah, you're probably too young to remember THAT era of double digit interest rates and double digit inflation. Thanks to the ObaMessiah, you might have that opportunity to live through it. Let's look UP instead!
*cough* BULLSHIT *cough* YOU'RE either too young to know or willfully ignorant that the so-called "Carter recession" began under Nixon and Ford. And you say Clinton's economic policies all hinged on Y2K preparations because of the Contract On America? Is that a fairy tale that Republicans tell their kids at bedtime? Seriously... I haven't heard even the most die-hard right-winger reach that far!
@nfli3596 What do Y2K preparations have to do with the government running a surplus by taking in more revenue than it spends? Very little of Newt's Contract was ever implemented. The economy was never in recession during Carter's term in office, though we did have extremely high inflation. The economy DID, however, experience a pretty severe double-dip recession during Reagan's first term. You may have been alive during the 1970s, but you certainly don't seem to have paid enough attention.
and the biggest point you seemed to miss is the "CHANGE" slogan is, and has been, mostly used by Socialist / Marxist / Communist from Hugo Chavez to Hitler to Fidel Castro!
Holy shit. You guys think we got here because of the Democrats controlling the House and having 50 seats in the Senate? That's the funniest thing I've read on here in a while. I think both of you need to polish those tinfoil hats on your heads.
do you think it's easy to change the country after george bush fucked the country up ?

Sounds about the same as saying Maverick, POW, Reformer, and Country First several hundred times.

No, it doesn't. That's why they didn't use those. Change is as generic a slogan as there is.
