Oh God! this movie breaks my heart...I can't imagine everything that was going thru his mind. He was very mature for his age though. I remeber seeing this movie when I was a kid with my mom on Lifetime T.V. and I never forgot the story of ryan, I was born in 88' so I was only a little girl when he passed, but his story truly inspired me and I never forgot this story, it showed me how callous people can be to people who are different. Ignorance is crippling the world. I understand this around the time when people knew little about AIDS, but the funny thing is I highly doubt people would act any different almost 20years later.

I was told I had G.R.I.D. (gay related immune difficiency in 1981) I have now lived with AIDS for 28 years! One of the first woman here in Miami. I was told in

92' I would die in 5 mo:s. I started the meds in 96. I am doing o.k. now. I whish I had met Ryan, that IS him as Chad!

I now work for Uof Miami Hosp: as a outreach worker for newly diagnosed & lost to care pt.s. I had seen this years ago & am so glad to see again! Even now folks discriminate, or say we are liars(us who have AIDS) ! LOL

My first Husband died in 1986!I went into denial for many years till I got sick in 92" I was in a coma and woke up to a Dr. telling me I was a bad person and I would die in 5 months!That I had AIDS but who cared as I was a Drug addict and a prostitute! And I would die~well I lived and came back to tap the Dr, on the shoulder , and say"I am living!" I am not a drug addict!" and I am still here what do you thinkabout it!? Me being a AIDS survivor

My older sister works with AIDS/HIV patients in Atlanta, and they have told her similar stories about the stigmas they recieved. Its funny though, b/c during the years of the Regan administration republicans did not do much to put federal funding into research and blood testing b/c AIDS was associtated with "bad stigmas" that were seemed to "immoral to republicans".But Ryan showed that anyone could be impacted by the disease. over 25yrs later, many of those stigmas still persist,makes me mad.

He was actually honored to do the part. In The Ryan White Story- it talked of how the family worked with the company to get a good portrayal- and when asked to be Chad0 he was honored.
