Wow, this is awesome!! Thank you so much for uploading. Do you mind if I use it for a couple videos of mine? I'll give you credit to the video and put a link to your channel (:
I love the combination at 3:32 they were the tidyest looking of them all, they looked a lot more practiced and proffesional in the showjumping than most, and i daresay even Heath. I think its common place in eventers to be a bit blasay with the showjumping and we get criticised mercilously by the purist showjumpers for it haha x great vid 5*s
Thanks for the comment Sarah. Having evented at that level myself and showjumped to a very high level as well i think that any showjumper who critising eventing showjumping needs to try jumping that level on a tired horse also trying to defend their position. It isn't easy and there is not a rider there not trying their best it is just a totally different sport once the horse is tired and the added pressure of the reverse order makes it tough.
Of course! It makes it into a totally different ball game after your horse has run round the cross country before hand. I totally agree with you, I wasnt criticising eventers showjumping in the least as it is totally different for us. Im going to experience my first taste of jumping the day after cross country in september as I have my first 3Day event then! And reverse order...yeah great for spectators but boy do you sweat when its you whos in the lead with all the pressure!
Never thought you were making a personal criticism. Wow your first 3de! Ride well and stay focused it is what all the pros do, their little secret if you like ;)
Well funny you say this Sarah, I tell my pupils exactly that. If you want to ride like a professional do exactly what they do! Simple in its execution but not easy as it requires a lot of concentration and dedication.
Yes! Indeed! You teach then I take it? I tend to follow the styles and methods of Lucinda Green, William Fox-Pitt and Mary King, a mix of different styles and attiudes and if i can get a bit of each in my riding thats great! Still easier said than done, and im still finding my own individual style lol
do teach have done so for a long time. Like most professionals here in Australia we teach to help make ends meet. it is only of recent years I have done these videos using the experience I gained from many years riding at an elite level. I still ride and coach, though most of my pupils are dressage riders, which I find amusing that they come to an event rider.
Yeah Madallion was 15.2h I think but I have a foal by him who is 14.3 1/2 and out of a TB mare, not sure how big the mare was though but Heath is really tall so that must be why the horse looks small, it probably is small compared to the rest of them but it sure has an amazing jump on it, I wish my Madallion mare was that brave haha!
Well actually having bought a Bates innova dressage saddle recently i can honestly say I am impressed. I have a very sensitive horse who has relaxed and settled in his work much better with this saddle. It really does make you more secure. Being a professional rider I found that hard to swallow but it is true.
What is better? A Wintec saddle or a Bates one? I wanna buy one for Ruby because he is sore in his back because the saddle doesn't fit.. and with a gullet system so I can fit it to him.. but I'm saving money at the moment.. =P
iv only ever sat on a bates saddle in the tack shop on a modle horse and it was a dressage saddle and my god it was stunning
i had a wintec on my cob and it was ok but i wouldnt buy one again there ok for messin around in because its a sinthetic one but bates its leather so you have to clean it
if your saving allready then i would wait a bit longer to get a better saddle unless hes in pain
He is anglo-arab with a very big weathers. and the saddle I have now isn't in good condition.. it's leather is like... becoming white and it's breaking apart in some places.. =P it's a 2nd hand dressage saddle.
And he has some sore places on the weathers and when I brush him so his back comes down.. :(
OK well the wintec is great for what it is designed for (staying economical) but they in my opinion build up heat being synthetic! Bates interchangeable saddles fit a wide range of horses and Ruby being a narrow horse would probably suit one! Do you have Bates saddles over there in Israel? Ask the saddler to come out and fit him up first before you buy! Some saddleries let you try before buying!
We'v got Bates in Israel and it cost about 1,850$.. Right now I can't afford one but I'm saving.. at the moment I use 2 pads on Ruby and iffffff someday we'll have ThinLine saddle pads in Israel so I'll buy one+a good saddle lol.
Heath has already seen it there is another video on my channel focusing just on Heath and his win. Look out for 2 new ones soon(ish) one on his Olympic experience and one on a controversial topic - The rolled kur....
What happened to no.139 at the water jump at the start, did they get whacked in the face and pass out??

Mystery Wisper looks really small, does anyone know the actual height of the horse, or is it just because Heath is really tall?
moridusu 2 years ago
Not sure on Whisper's height but he is not a small horse, although his sire Richmead Madallion was not tall and I am pretty sure he was under 16hh.

if you cant affored a bates go for a t6 thats what i wanted for millie but it didnt fit so i ended up getting a farrington dressage saddle
