There is a reason why Mayans are close being nonexistent, and that is because Spanish settlers came with disease that these people were not immune to and began to die off. Not to mention they came with religion and killed these people's culture. The Mayan people are the same people that had an extremely accurate representation of the solar system by the use of the naked eye. Also many books were burned, and the books that made it are useless because they are so almost impossible to translate.
