  • 5751 for a warm rounded sound.

12ax7 for a distorted rockish sound.

12au7 for the more clean sound.

seems like the 12au7 is more suited for HI-FI

and the 5751 for the vintage guitar sound.

    dunno about the 12ax7

  • I prefere the 5751 tube, its a warmer sound ....

  • I think there is something wrong with your amp. At that volume level with a Tele it should distort like the solo in Hotel California.

  • Nice demo, thanks. The 12ay7 sounded smoothest in the upper mids(as in not sounding clanky)..almost seemed to have more bloom/compression.

  • Thanks for this great demo. The audio was excellent, the captions were very helpful, and you did just the right amount of talking :)

  • this is a fairly clean amp in comparison to others. It is obvious there are differences in tone but the differences would prob stand out a lot more on a more overdrivin or distorted amp.

  • @martyfriedman666 Turn it up, it gets very distorted.

  • I have a real 59 and their is so much difference even between tubes of the same kind. I just broke my 7025 sovtek and replaced it, and the amp sounds completely different, headroom, treble, pedal response, etc.

  • AY27 and the 5751 sound pretty similar. The AX7 is certainly a bit more dsitorted.

  • Too bad the recording has a terrible digital buzzing going on. Otherwise this could be a useful test.
