I am informed that music from Manfred's ECM LPs from this period will be compiled into 2 CDs. Details ECM 2093/4 Manfred Schoof Quintet "Resonance". Recordings 1976-79

fantastic - one of my favourite band sof the 70s. Lightlines was a great album. The only Schoof I have on CD is the duo with Bruninghaus. Schoof is/was a great distinctive sound on the trumpet. Drummer Ralf R Hubner could write soem great pieces too. Gerd Dudek was always the free jazz wildcard - reminding me a bit of Evan Parker's outings in kenny Wheelers bands. Thanks so much for this.

i know jazzfans don't like to hear but this music is great for sampling.

if you want to hear a real great fusion of jazz and hiphop just see if you can find something by j rawls or dj spinna... peace

On the contrary, theres many of us jazzfans who like sample based music too. ;-)

I'm just glad that sample based guys are listening to something other than James Brown, Herbie Hancock and CTI label LPs.

The music of Schoof is deep and then some...

yes, i mean herbie hancock and jb are classics and they created great music.

but if you want to produce hiphop beats you have to go searching for some obscure music that not everybody knows...
