Sonic's fanbase is very unstable these years.. But the most you get is the negative. There are a few true suporting fans with a brain to think and able to see things through various perspectives gladly. But most are just sort of haters and trolls which you cant reason with and end up annoying you.

I mean, no fanbase is perfect, not even the fanbase mario, ratchet and clank, megaman, etc but sonic's one is usually one of the more well known ones but it's because of the negative aspects. Despite this, I still remain to the franchise and play many of they games since their are fun, good break from what I normally play, and one of the non nintendo games I look foward too.

Wether who is the best, that's debatable (although for fandom reasons and many more, I choose Sonic).
Either way, cut the hedgehog some slack. His retro fanboys are like a group of raging bulls who only bitch and then you get the average haters and the fanbase has seen better days.
While Mario still has his huge fanbase.
Seriously, just let the damn hedgehog get some credit for once. Which is something he hasnt got, in a long time and he honestly deserves it.

@Suixa I don't hate sonic. He's actually one of my fav. non nintendo franchises. I play many of his games both console and handheld wise. I'm just tired of his pathetic fanbase. Always being overzealous,envious, and obsessive with everything related and unrelated to the hedgehog from reviews(even when he gets a good score), to games, to downrating anything not related to him. Sonic may not deserve hate but thanks to his fanbase, he doesn't deserve that much defense either.

The character is awesome and we both love him as I can see.
The fanbase, yes its mostly retro gamers and pathetic fanboys who make the character look bad. But then again, you cant expect much out of little kids, that are like 50% or more of the regular fanbase.
I guess they behave like that because Sonic hasnt got much recognition lately, even so they sure can get on your nerves, sonic or mario fans.

@Suixa Actually, I see some teenagers behaving like how I stated.... and some young adults for the retro part. Regardless,it's still true except I'm speaking of how the sonic fanbase reacts with anything related and unrelated with sonic in general. Not just towards mario since it's happening vice versa as well, except not as common in their own vids. Here's some examples of what I mean: Their negatives reaction over even good reviews and some machinima vids with sonic involved.

Yes, retro ones should just leave the franchise and stay with the old games they love so much for the good of the fanbase sanity.
Sonic's fanbase is very unstable these years.. But the most you get is the negative. There are a few true suporting fans with a brain to think and able to see things through various perspectives gladly. But most are just sort of haters and trolls which you cant reason with and end up annoying you.

@Suixa That's why I don't want to be consider as a sonic fan,for now.It's mainly because the way the fanbase acts. I mean, no fanbase is perfect, not even the fanbase mario, ratchet and clank, megaman, etc but sonic's one is usually one of the more well known ones but it's because of the negative aspects. Despite this, I still remain to the franchise and play many of they games since their are fun, good break from what I normally play, and one of the non nintendo games I look foward too.

If people like you and me start leaving the fanbase and remain "neutral" to people's eyes, then all that will be left will be the bad image that the majority of the fantards give.
I think that the ones who own a brain and suport the franchise should stick with it and unite. There's nothing wrong on suporting Sonic and giving people a diferent (good) impression of Sonic fans for a change.
We aren't all bad like most think.

@Suixa I still support the sonic franchise and games....just not the fanbase. Well, except for the sane fans but they are rare to find some these days, especially if you ask them the meaning of a "sane fan" or a sonic fan in general. I'm sorry, but I couldn't take it anymore....

@nintendolife25 difference between me a most sonic fans is that i dont get offended when someone says sonic is shit or the newer games are bad i see it as there own opinion, i have mixed favorite sonic games, some classic some modern being brought up in the dreamcast era ive seen more of modern and im not into weird sonadow and sonamy, i only play the games and watch the cartoons/animes and might do a bit of fan art. now compare me with the majority of sonic fans,i am pretty sane
