  • it's called a CAPEX Capability Excersize .... basically a dog and pony show for civies :)

  • @ComplexIdealism Too bad this year's show at Ft. Bragg was cancelled. Seems that the war got in the way of the "dog an pony show" Bwt, the All Amerircan week (thats part of what you see here) gives us all a much welcome break and allows our families to come and see what we do. It is a capex but it is a real training exercise for us that we do anyway, even if no "civies" were watching.

  • what is this kind of exhibition called? I went to one as a kid at Fort Bragg and got to see my uncle and some family friends jump out of a plane and saw a lot of maneuvers like this. But what's the term for it? When's the next one at Fort Bragg? I'd love to go again!

  • The Pope AFB C-130's do this well. I was in the 41st TAS , these drops are done at the sicily drop zone at Ft. Bragg. Site of the LAPES crash in 87'. Takes a huge coordinated effort between the Air Force and Army to pull this off. I miss it! Great video!

  • Was in 41st in mid 70s EAGNAF

  • Thanks for your informaation Matty KB. May be the french army does not operate with exactly the same procedures as the US.

  • Superb performance of LAPES by the C-130.

I wonder if the same technique is possible for Navy Seals above the Sea level or in combination with a submarine?

  • I'm a parachute rigger, we drop zodiac boats with seals all the time. Dont think a submarine would work because the excess rigging wouldnt be able to be disposed of on landing.
