very well-made fan-trailer, nice choice of music and the scenes are very good as well. the only thing i can say about it is that most of the clips you have selected are battle scenes, while the book series has relatively little actual fights going on, especially on large scales. still, very well done.
Ok. But I picked out parts from Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Troy. Need to make it a bit less obvious guys but still a good attempt.
I like your casting decisions, actually! Usually, I don't agree with my fellow WoT-fan friends when we talk about it, so I'm surprised. Josh Hartnett fits my idea of Rand well. Jonathan Jackson is a good choice, and Catherine Zeta-Jones works well, even though I never would have thought of her myself. I don't think Clive Owen looks hard-edged enough for Lan.

the wheel weaves as the wheel wills, but still... but still i hope for an epic movie ^^
There's a film based on the first book in development but it would chop the Eye of the World to pieces to make something that was around 2-3 hours in length. I would almost rather see it as a TV series like The Sword of Truth or A Song of Ice and Fire.

it would kind of suck but yeah, the only way this could go down is if different actors played different books like tha batman films and then when it's all over people compare them.
As to where it should be filmed; New Zealand, obviously. We have such a variety of terrain and if it was really neccecary to find a blight we could just head over to australia although just off desert road in the middle of the north island would be perfect. fuck yeah. so many places for tear and illian etc.
not to mention we have weta workshops. you know, the people who created gollum, a clear piece of pionering for the relms of CGI and film making in general.
Pretty good trailer, Was hoping to see who did the music. I too am working on a trailer for WOT: EotW. Mine will encompass raw footage shot by myself and fellow actors/director persons. I just hope we can make it happen.
As for making these into movies. I think it can be done, I just think it would have to be done in a mini-series format. Make each book into three segments. That would allow to capture ample detail.
Actors: Newer faces are better, with some big names. Better believability.
Well,I think we were all a little surprised at how good LOTR was. It wasn't perfect...but I feel it did the book justice and definately captured certain characters well...... Perhaps WOT will be as good?
can't wait for the film, but i agree there's no way it can be any where near as good as the book but it'll still be awesome.i heard the news the same time as i heard the new book is coming out pretty soon (it's actualy split into three books cause there's too much stuff going on with moraine 'bout to be rescued though she was meant to be dead for the last five books and Tarmon Gaiden itself to happen in 1 book is too much and we'd have to wait even longer for the final thing)
i hate u im only on book 10 i didnt know moraine comes back damn u if ur gonna say shit like that at least warn people there is spoilers in what they're reading
i dont want this movie to turn into another "Clan of the Cave Bear" endeavor... where they took a really good book series, tried it out on the big screen, saw how poorly they did, and threw all ideas of sequels of the series out the window. hehe... just one's thoughts on the matter. WoT rocks!
gotta be honest, while i will most certainly watch the movie, id prefer if they didnt even try to make it... we can pretty much already guarantee the movie will suck balls compared to the books. (not to say it wont be a decent movie for what its worth...) but be honest, with the series being as large as it is...how can you possibly capture enuff of the essence of WoT to properly display it within an hour and a half? hopefuly if they do well enuff... multiple sequels? like three of four of five?
Nice trailer. the wheel of time series is my all time favourite series of books, on the knife of dreams now, and the whole series is just epic. never has a book series had me so engrossed. hope the movies do it justice
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
crappy trailer. i was expecting something from an actual series, not a bunch of clips from braveheart, arthur, lord of the rings and such. don't falsely dub things. it makes me mad.
You know what's the worst possible idea? Making a WoT move. I agree with the previous posters. It would fail on so many levels. Would the movies even make sense due to all that would be cut out?
Well, to make a movie on even one of the books in the series would be EPIC FAIL even if Peter Jackson (who created the Lord of the rings movies if you didn't know) would do it, 'cuz it would only ruin the greatness of the books!!!!!
Any attempt to recreate WoT into a movie would be an EPIC FAIL. The character development would be rushed and Robert Jordan's vivid world would be mutilated into a CGI joke fest.
Please don't ruin one of the best literary masterpieces of all-time.
Don't get me wrong, I like WoT --they're great, entertaining books, but I don't think anyone could call them "the best literary masterpieces of all-time"...
Agreed. I think that the lord of the rings movies were phenominal, but they did have to go with the bare minimum to fit it in a movie format.
There is a certain way the Wheel of Time would need to be done, and I think it is too soon after the series is done to even think about a movie. These stories must be studied for decades to work out a screenplay that wouldnt be full of inconsistencies.
Like the HP movies, which by the way, were the palest shadow of a reflection next to the books.
in lord of the rings they skipped like 80% of the books storyline so they could fit it into 9 hours of film.. FAIL
They wanted 1 movie per book - but this was retarded given how long and detailed the books are. Shoulda had two movies per book and then that woulda been barely enough.
I think that no director, actor or writer ever could make a good movie out of the wheel of time series, and i hope they never try! The Eragon movie was the worst movie I ever saw, and I was really lookin foreward to that movie too...Let us pray that they dont ruin the best books of all time...
If they are going to adapt it - they should make it into a tv series - Say 1 hour episode for every half of a book. That way theyr will have 24 episodes (and they will stillbe hard pressed to fit everything in lol0
Ah the wolf was from Narnia and i saw parts of LOTR 3 and King Artur. This is the best fan made clip i have ever seen. Good choice for music and movie parts.
hbo would probably be able to make a good series out of it, they have already aquired the rights and are making george r r martin's "a song of ice and fire" series which will consist of 7 seasons one for each book. if this works it would be intresting to see them make the wheel of time
I really hope that they'll NOT make a movie out of it.I love the series so much,it would ruin so much, they could never do the books justice.someone said that it'd be possible to fit the plot in a movie because much takes place in people's heads, but if all that was left out...that'd be terrible!it's such an important part and just so very well done, that that alone would leave the whole project unfinished,just..incomplete
but you did a good job on this video and I really liked the music for it
I think the movies will be good. Sure the books are long, but how much of it takes place in the character's head? Can't exactly put that in a movie unless you want corny voice overs ever scene
im agreeing with wisdom walker on this one. if they did a feature film they would have to cut so much plot that it would end up terrible (golden compass) or too brief (harry potter). mini series or anime perhaps?
@yourfisharemine And how to portray the OP when it's only visible to channellers. It would have to be POV all the time unless you changes some pretty basic things about the story.
omg this is awesome, I've read all the books, including the english ones (from sweden, please be pacient with me) and OMFG if they are going to make a movie about it, I'm so gonna get them!! But, since there are alot of books and pages and etc, they'd have to cut out alot, eh? like they did with Eragon and the newest Harry Potter movies? Good Lord, I hope they really pull this of!! it would be so freaking awesome!
The only real way to visually tell this epic tale and truly do the books any kind of justice is to do it in Anime form. And it would have to be an Anime show with the same type of longevity episode wise as shows like Naruto and Bleach.
omg you had me going for a sec till I expanded the information.. still yeah SKFD86 you're totally right it is like a brother huh?
If they do make a series of this.. the WHOLE series.. peter jackson shouldn't direct it because it'll just be another lord of the rings.. but hayden christienson FUCK YEAH would play a sick rand I cant believe I never thought of that, lol.
Its a good video... but the making of one of Americas few EPICS (12 books all between 600-1000) pages will be monumental. Like 10,000 watchmen. I love the series like a second brother. I need to see it done well
it's a great vid! and the music is great, too. i've just started rereading the entire series, they're great. and i also love thinking of who could play who ^_^
But who will be Elyas? Min? (wait is Min in the first book?)Thom? Logain? the Green Man?
I liked it but I still haven;t warmed up to the idea of a movie of WoT. Granted that a lot of the book space was dedicated to description...it's still an enormous undertaking and few can pull it off.
I read somewhere that there are like 13,000 named characters in the books.
It is going to be so hard to make these movies...The book is so long, they'd have to cut alot out of the movie to lwoer it to around two hours. And we can't have that ,can we?
Yeah, well...I'm not saying I don't want a movie. I'm just saying that I don't know if it will work. The actors will have to sacrifice eight or nine years of their life to film ALL of them (If they choose to do that), plus if they make it into a 3 1/2 hour movie it will take more time to get locations set up and such.
It was announced its been optioned with Paramount if I remember correctly by Red Eagle Entertainment. The movies are in pre-production, if I remember right they said they will make the first book into a movie and see what the responce is for sequels. It would be easy to make the first book into a 2 nad a half hour movie. Look at the LoTRs.
I can't think of who you are thinking of from Hercules, but most of those actresses would be too old for the part by now. Kate Beckinsale is too "cute" to play Nyneave, I can't see her with the "temper" that Nyneave has, it's just not her style.
i dunno who should play Rand but i hope it would not be hartnett. no offense to u hartnett fans but he just doesn't have the look of a hard character. i dunno who could play him. zeta jones is the best for moiraine, she had the look of calm on her face. i didn't see elayne, where was she?
nice one everything in brown. i do hope thatthe movie they will make will be something like LOTR i think it will be possibleto make an movie of ''the eye of the world'' but they will have to short a lot of things.
Absolutely never ever would this series work as movies as each BOOK would have to be 2-3 movies to be done correctly and there are MANY books, and TV would never have the budget. I hope this is never, ever adapted for screen...NEVER! Dont touch it!
Are you serious? Jordan's writing style was incredibly descriptive, a bit too much at times I believe. More than half of each book is filled with descriptions and inner thoughts. They could easily burn through three or 4 books in one movie
I think the characters involved, the locations and the scope of it are too much, and to do it right would cost so much it wont happen. I dont want to see a less than total effort here, I would prefer NEVER to half-assing this one. I like the story too much to want it run through a Hollywood filter. Even Peter Jackson couldnt capture WOT unless he spent 800 Mil.
LOTR did it perfect. They tore down the helmsdeep set and put up Gondor in the same spot. It can be done. Extras will be needed, but I don't think volunteers will run short. Also you can CG in other background people. LOTR did this with the orcs and Oruk-ai (sp?) There were only 16 or something of actual people playing orcs. The CGI orcs in the LOTR were able to move seperately and randomly on a series of programmed moves. It can be done the same way. Possible with FULL COMMITMENT. Do it right.
The problem is even done right there is less of a world fan base for WOT than LOTR, it would be virtually unknown to most. Plus, its not a trilogy its a ton of stories so what do they do? A single movie of book 1 to test the waters? A condensed version with main story parts from 1-3 in 1 film? I dont see anyone taking this on, not ever, unless its animated maybe and even then they would go cheap and whats the point then? Not going to happen.
I see your point. However, there are more than 44 million copies from the WoT series that have been sold. Who knows how many more have been given away. My point being it's safe to say there are more than 44 million people aware of the WoT, not including popularity by word of mouth. I don't think fan base is the issue. Budget is. The first movie has to be successful enough to pay for the second and so forth. Grants and help from producers will see the rest through. Again needs someone committed.
Also Peter Jackson read the LOTR and said "I can't wait for that to come out as a movie." Then years and years later, he directed it.
This project will be similar I think. People are intimidated, and rightfully so. The success of LOTR and the work needed to match it with the WoT is NO SMALL task.
Someone will step up to the challenge. Either Universal will now, or someone else will. Let's just hope it falls in the hands of somebody passionate about the film and the integrity of the books.
I dont think a director who is a huge fan would ever be able to pull in the $ to do this, and the LOTR had universal appeal to even non-fantasy fans, while the WOT is not so broadly transferable I think. I dont know I just dont want it done badly, and if a current fan makes a movie some day when hes a director are we talking 2019? If so, then maybe computers will be able to take the edge of that $ and do more, but thats 10 years
Yeah, I think your dead on there. The budget is going to be outrageous if it's to be done right.
It'd be tight if they could set up a fan site where fans could donate a couple of bucks to see it done right you know. Good way to make quick and easy millions. Hell I'd give 'em 20 dollars haha.
Let's hope we don't have to wait until 2019, I'd love to help out on a project like this if possible. Maybe the fans can help push this thing along in the right direction.
The impression is that a movie always destroys a book, but I look at it like the movie can't stand up to the book. The Wheel of Time is so well written that we haven't even seen a writer/directer that can do it justice on the silver screen.
Looks well done. Perrin is my favorite character and then is Faile and Aviendha. Perrin can be hard to find an actor for but Aviendha would Keira Knightley do good I think.
Im not entirely happy over news of a potential movie. Remember what happened to Dungeons and Dragons?
And NO Angelina Jolie. Lets have a single movie that she's not in, please. Aren't you people getting sick of her slapped-with-a-fish face yet? Get a cast of good unknowns and make a decent movie for once. When you start putting stars together you get smug performances.
but all major actors n actress's today can find a role to play for this series as its so extremely large, i would be honored to play a begger in the filming of this movie.
jolie would be a perfect Forsaken no matter which she chooses, i prefer the spyder. she not beautiful enough to be considered worlds most beautiful woman as lanfear is in WOT.
There will be no tWoT movies. I think he's just bullshitting. For the simple fact: That politics becomes extremely boring when not on paper any longer where every detail is not explained. Nor would they ever be able to truly satisfy the fans, I think. But, I like I said it's unlikely fo the simple reason there';s alot of politics in tWoT as a whole and I doubt they'd just do the first book as a movie.
To really get all of the detail and smaller parts that are necessary to the later parts of the books, each book would truly need probably a couple 3 hour movies...at least.

can't wait for the film, but i agree there's no way it can be any where near as good as the book but it'll still be awesome.i heard the news the same time as i heard the new book is coming out pretty soon (it's actualy split into three books cause there's too much stuff going on with moraine 'bout to be rescued though she was meant to be dead for the last five books and Tarmon Gaiden itself to happen in 1 book is too much and we'd have to wait even longer for the final thing)

i dont want this movie to turn into another "Clan of the Cave Bear" endeavor... where they took a really good book series, tried it out on the big screen, saw how poorly they did, and threw all ideas of sequels of the series out the window. hehe... just one's thoughts on the matter. WoT rocks!
youdontknowmegigna 2 years ago
gotta be honest, while i will most certainly watch the movie, id prefer if they didnt even try to make it... we can pretty much already guarantee the movie will suck balls compared to the books. (not to say it wont be a decent movie for what its worth...) but be honest, with the series being as large as it is...how can you possibly capture enuff of the essence of WoT to properly display it within an hour and a half? hopefuly if they do well enuff... multiple sequels? like three of four of five?

You know what's the worst possible idea? Making a WoT move. I agree with the previous posters. It would fail on so many levels. Would the movies even make sense due to all that would be cut out?
therush1892 2 years ago
hey, could you please tell me the name of this audio track? its amazing.. thanks
oriongazer52 2 years ago
Well, to make a movie on even one of the books in the series would be EPIC FAIL even if Peter Jackson (who created the Lord of the rings movies if you didn't know) would do it, 'cuz it would only ruin the greatness of the books!!!!!
RighteousProd 2 years ago
Any attempt to recreate WoT into a movie would be an EPIC FAIL. The character development would be rushed and Robert Jordan's vivid world would be mutilated into a CGI joke fest.
Please don't ruin one of the best literary masterpieces of all-time.
whuutdaFUQ 2 years ago
I agree, look at Lord of the Rings.
avuge77 2 years ago
for me, lord of the rings one of the few films adapted from a book that did justify the book series. that and of mice and men.

Don't get me wrong, I like WoT --they're great, entertaining books, but I don't think anyone could call them "the best literary masterpieces of all-time"...

elscoles 2 years ago
You did an amazing job putting this together. Great clips and perfect music. If only they could pull this off as well as you did the trailer!
foxwoodfaerie 2 years ago 2
Like the HP movies, which by the way, were the palest shadow of a reflection next to the books.
bigrecord 2 years ago
thats exactly what they said about lord of the rings..no?...well u never know i think its possible ^^
IKeepAComputerInMyOv 2 years ago
in lord of the rings they skipped like 80% of the books storyline so they could fit it into 9 hours of film.. FAIL
They wanted 1 movie per book - but this was retarded given how long and detailed the books are. Shoulda had two movies per book and then that woulda been barely enough.
Xellith 2 years ago
I think that no director, actor or writer ever could make a good movie out of the wheel of time series, and i hope they never try! The Eragon movie was the worst movie I ever saw, and I was really lookin foreward to that movie too...Let us pray that they dont ruin the best books of all time...

If they make it into a movie it would miss almost half of the book and be like eragon(horrible movie). I agree it should be a tv series.
Ironfistconsumerist 2 years ago 4
hbo would probably be able to make a good series out of it, they have already aquired the rights and are making george r r martin's "a song of ice and fire" series which will consist of 7 seasons one for each book. if this works it would be intresting to see them make the wheel of time
ricklion1982 2 years ago 4
I really hope that they'll NOT make a movie out of it.I love the series so much,it would ruin so much, they could never do the books justice.someone said that it'd be possible to fit the plot in a movie because much takes place in people's heads, but if all that was left out...that'd be terrible!it's such an important part and just so very well done, that that alone would leave the whole project unfinished,just..incomplete
but you did a good job on this video and I really liked the music for it
nagelhautentferner 2 years ago 4
I think the movies will be good. Sure the books are long, but how much of it takes place in the character's head? Can't exactly put that in a movie unless you want corny voice overs ever scene
Raistlink345 2 years ago 3
im agreeing with wisdom walker on this one. if they did a feature film they would have to cut so much plot that it would end up terrible (golden compass) or too brief (harry potter). mini series or anime perhaps?
okeys7 3 years ago 6
@okeys7
actually if you look back on it nothing really happens. Most of the books is internal feeling which can been shown in a brief second.
So the major problem rather than fitting all that happens is to correctly portray such mute characters.
yourfisharemine 1 year ago
@yourfisharemine And how to portray the OP when it's only visible to channellers. It would have to be POV all the time unless you changes some pretty basic things about the story.
Timmujin 1 year ago
@okeys7 they could do it like lord of the rings, that was a good movie, even with all that they had to cut
Shreddur666 1 year ago
omg this is awesome, I've read all the books, including the english ones (from sweden, please be pacient with me) and OMFG if they are going to make a movie about it, I'm so gonna get them!! But, since there are alot of books and pages and etc, they'd have to cut out alot, eh? like they did with Eragon and the newest Harry Potter movies? Good Lord, I hope they really pull this of!! it would be so freaking awesome!
DjTompa011 3 years ago 2
It's only a collage
sakamoto70 3 years ago
The only real way to visually tell this epic tale and truly do the books any kind of justice is to do it in Anime form. And it would have to be an Anime show with the same type of longevity episode wise as shows like Naruto and Bleach.
Wisdomwalker 3 years ago
I thought about that too. An anime with an adult design would be awesome, but it's not likely to happen...

Its a good video... but the making of one of Americas few EPICS (12 books all between 600-1000) pages will be monumental. Like 10,000 watchmen. I love the series like a second brother. I need to see it done well

Yeah, it's going to be hard to make this movie, but if you cut the book in descripings and important parts, you keep half the book i guess.
It would be a nice challenge.
Won't it?
Nice vid.
loezzja 3 years ago
But who will be Elyas? Min? (wait is Min in the first book?)Thom? Logain? the Green Man?
I liked it but I still haven;t warmed up to the idea of a movie of WoT. Granted that a lot of the book space was dedicated to description...it's still an enormous undertaking and few can pull it off.
I read somewhere that there are like 13,000 named characters in the books.
orcak89 3 years ago
It is going to be so hard to make these movies...The book is so long, they'd have to cut alot out of the movie to lwoer it to around two hours. And we can't have that ,can we?
Yeah, well...I'm not saying I don't want a movie. I'm just saying that I don't know if it will work. The actors will have to sacrifice eight or nine years of their life to film ALL of them (If they choose to do that), plus if they make it into a 3 1/2 hour movie it will take more time to get locations set up and such.
LupisNero 3 years ago
I think Mark Wahlberg could be a good choice, or Ewan McGregor for Rand. As for Elayne I think Miranda Otto, would do well.
Marines219838 3 years ago
It was announced its been optioned with Paramount if I remember correctly by Red Eagle Entertainment. The movies are in pre-production, if I remember right they said they will make the first book into a movie and see what the responce is for sequels. It would be easy to make the first book into a 2 nad a half hour movie. Look at the LoTRs.

I can't think of who you are thinking of from Hercules, but most of those actresses would be too old for the part by now. Kate Beckinsale is too "cute" to play Nyneave, I can't see her with the "temper" that Nyneave has, it's just not her style.
hurlyn88 3 years ago
i dunno who should play Rand but i hope it would not be hartnett. no offense to u hartnett fans but he just doesn't have the look of a hard character. i dunno who could play him. zeta jones is the best for moiraine, she had the look of calm on her face. i didn't see elayne, where was she?

Absolutely never ever would this series work as movies as each BOOK would have to be 2-3 movies to be done correctly and there are MANY books, and TV would never have the budget. I hope this is never, ever adapted for screen...NEVER! Dont touch it!
krashly71 3 years ago
Are you serious? Jordan's writing style was incredibly descriptive, a bit too much at times I believe. More than half of each book is filled with descriptions and inner thoughts. They could easily burn through three or 4 books in one movie
walsh1916 2 years ago
I think the characters involved, the locations and the scope of it are too much, and to do it right would cost so much it wont happen. I dont want to see a less than total effort here, I would prefer NEVER to half-assing this one. I like the story too much to want it run through a Hollywood filter. Even Peter Jackson couldnt capture WOT unless he spent 800 Mil.
krashly71 2 years ago
I agree. There's way too many locations that would have to be built. Caemlyn would be imposible to make. Plus all the extras that would be needed.
CrutoniaFilms 2 years ago
LOTR did it perfect. They tore down the helmsdeep set and put up Gondor in the same spot. It can be done. Extras will be needed, but I don't think volunteers will run short. Also you can CG in other background people. LOTR did this with the orcs and Oruk-ai (sp?) There were only 16 or something of actual people playing orcs. The CGI orcs in the LOTR were able to move seperately and randomly on a series of programmed moves. It can be done the same way. Possible with FULL COMMITMENT. Do it right.
dlsbol 2 years ago
The problem is even done right there is less of a world fan base for WOT than LOTR, it would be virtually unknown to most. Plus, its not a trilogy its a ton of stories so what do they do? A single movie of book 1 to test the waters? A condensed version with main story parts from 1-3 in 1 film? I dont see anyone taking this on, not ever, unless its animated maybe and even then they would go cheap and whats the point then? Not going to happen.
krashly71 2 years ago
I see your point. However, there are more than 44 million copies from the WoT series that have been sold. Who knows how many more have been given away. My point being it's safe to say there are more than 44 million people aware of the WoT, not including popularity by word of mouth. I don't think fan base is the issue. Budget is. The first movie has to be successful enough to pay for the second and so forth. Grants and help from producers will see the rest through. Again needs someone committed.
dlsbol 2 years ago
Also Peter Jackson read the LOTR and said "I can't wait for that to come out as a movie." Then years and years later, he directed it.
This project will be similar I think. People are intimidated, and rightfully so. The success of LOTR and the work needed to match it with the WoT is NO SMALL task.
Someone will step up to the challenge. Either Universal will now, or someone else will. Let's just hope it falls in the hands of somebody passionate about the film and the integrity of the books.
dlsbol 2 years ago
I dont think a director who is a huge fan would ever be able to pull in the $ to do this, and the LOTR had universal appeal to even non-fantasy fans, while the WOT is not so broadly transferable I think. I dont know I just dont want it done badly, and if a current fan makes a movie some day when hes a director are we talking 2019? If so, then maybe computers will be able to take the edge of that $ and do more, but thats 10 years
krashly71 2 years ago
Yeah, I think your dead on there. The budget is going to be outrageous if it's to be done right.
It'd be tight if they could set up a fan site where fans could donate a couple of bucks to see it done right you know. Good way to make quick and easy millions. Hell I'd give 'em 20 dollars haha.
Let's hope we don't have to wait until 2019, I'd love to help out on a project like this if possible. Maybe the fans can help push this thing along in the right direction.
I'm anxious to see it happen.

Katarn84 3 years ago
The impression is that a movie always destroys a book, but I look at it like the movie can't stand up to the book. The Wheel of Time is so well written that we haven't even seen a writer/directer that can do it justice on the silver screen.
