  • michael angelo batio is better than every guitarist in here

  • @tzvi753 he cant play half as fast as shawn lane and shawn lane played stuff batio could never do 1 handed

  • @tzvi753 fail

  • This song is not from the Andy Timmons, the song is from Reb Beach - Black Magic.

  • Maybe DAVID Gilmour! But you're right; these are some of the best I've heard lately. Jammed with the Greats of the late '60's- 70's; this Youtube has got me practising my 'calouses'-off! Hope to get some Vid's out soon!

  • Nice video. Some I haven't heard of, but they sound nice. Would've had Davis Gilmour up there myself, though.

  • If this is a joke its not funny, If your being serious you should be killed! Where are the actual decent guitarists! Half of these guys aint even heard of, Where is slash and zakk wylde? even steve vai? Honestly YOU SUCK! Your list is full of fucking idiots with the worst tones imaginable. They suck so bad that even deaf people are complining! YOOOU SUUUUUCK!

  • Not nearly enough metal guitarists,what about Marty Friedman?Dimebag Darrel?Yngwie Malmsteen???Fucking Steve Vai???????????/

  • Great video! I agree with all your choices. Take no notice of negative comments that people leave here. They didn't get the point of the video.

  • The song playing in number #3 isn't from Andy Timmons, it's Black Magic, played by Reb Beach

  • Comment removed

  • Mikael Akerfeldt!

  • Jack Thammarat.. ? Its 2011..

  • wow!

  • Gary Moore was the best!

  • Eric Mantel is on Steve Vai's record label and has been putting out RECORDS since the 70s! Go to DIGITAL NATIONS website! This list is someone's opinion! Also if you read the beginning of the video it clearly states that this video is in no particular order.....this is a reflection of what this person likes, again this is just someone's opinion. Check out Eric Mantel's website....

  • Guthrie \Govan, , also Eric Clapton has loverrrly tone :)

  • idiot. words cannot describe how stupid you are!

  • Lane's tone after 95 and onward is borderline sexualy stimulating.

  • guys sthu...this is HIS video...not all of you guys...

  • nice john petrucci is not here, petrucci is good in good melodies

  • where the hell is the brown sound??!?

  • Fucking cheater!!!! Andy timmons doesnt play that, that song belongs to Reb Beach and its called "Black Magic".... and if you would listen to andy timmons you would know his tone is the best out of this 10... asswipe...

  • guys with best tone to me are Eric Johnson, SRV, EVH, Gary Moore(thin lizzy!) , Michael Bloomfield, Gilmour, Brian May, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman and Derek Trucks, maybe angus young too! and hendrix obviously... and jimi page, but not cos it's a particularly nice tone it's the howling yowling scream of society losing it's virginity to proper rock music!

  • Where are jimmy hendrix,david gilmour,steve lukather,slash,Steve Vai?

  • what's the name of the track by eric johnson ?

  • @LotusRoadster SRV--- Album Venus Isle

  • Amon Amarth cool band

  • Amon Amarth cool band

  • wheres eddie van halen, steve vai, eric clapton, john petrucci, les paul, chet atkins, b.b king, eric johnson?

  • @TitaniumN07

Really man, Eric Johnson is in 1st place and on the list but where are the rest "Eric Clapton,Van Halen, Slash and kirk hammet that are really the bests ever world guitarrist. To me Joe Satriani is the ONE(my opinion and my favorite) but the others are also really good. you ppl, dont think so just 2 points Get " Not of This Earth (1986) " 2nd you must see here a live from "Rubina" 1st time i ear it i was 4 maybe 5 years old now im 26 and i still ear it every days

  • Great list. i might just rearrange the order a teeny bit and add John petrucci, vai on there somewhere but overral. great that you got lane and govan in there...they are just...Superior TO EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING.

  • Where's Chris Poland? He has probably the sexiest tone I've ever heard in my life!

  • People! this video is about the guitarists he views having the best tone, not skill or influence. So for all you people saying "where's eddie?", Eddie had shitty tone, even he admits it himself. I mean you can't expect much from a DIY project where he knew close to nothing about electronics. But I still love him anyways

Oh, and good choice putting Eric at number one

  • david gilmour, paul gilbert, steve vai ????? you fucked up

  • @Thuggybcobhc agree with Gilmour...but Bilbert has a crappy too much treble tone and Vai...well Vai has a great tone..but not better than any of these...

  • so wheres Jimi Hendrix, Buckethead, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Kirk Hammett, John Pettrucci, Steve Ouimette, B.B. King, Slash, Dave Mustaine, or Eric Clapton.

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS KIRK HAMMET FROM METALLICA!

  • @ThePituka111 why would he be on this. all he is is wah pedal.

  • @ThePituka111 why would he be on this. all he is, is wah pedal.

  • Which EJ song is that!?!

  • You did say "tone" right? Ever heard of Billy Gibbons, Jeff Beck, Leslie West? Too much metal. Shredding all the time is boring.

  • where is eddie van halen

BTW good idea to put eric johnson as no. 1 :D

  • JOE SATRIANI JAJAJAJ OK FINE BUT STEVE LUKATHER ? ITS THE BEST

  • I feel much more music that represents andy timmons is actually the (Reb Beach - Black Magic) - album (Guitars That Rule The World) 1998, OK \ ° /

  • NO STEVE VAI!!! WTF!?

  • We have different taste in tone. But cool guys none the less.

  • Keep in mind this list is about guitar TONE. Therefore, Paul Gilbert is out. Jimmy Page is arguably out. Glad to see SRV on here. Though I do think Gilmour should've been included, too.

  • Wheres Buckethead? ya i know some of his songs are mindless, but when he plays hes amazing at making melodies, harmonies and solos

  • Andy timmons song it's fail.(scuse me, my english is very bad)

La canción es de Reb Beach.

faltó santana, si hablamos de tono como timbrica, pues tiene uno de los mejores sustain, falta Frank Gambale, Greg Howe, Ritchie Kotzen muchos mas por cierto

  • Another great list, and I know it's gotta be hard to settle on just 10. You did a good job. My personal opinion, i wouldn't include Satriani on this list, just because I've never really liked his tone. Great player, but his tone just never did it for me. Too processed and, for lack of a better word, "alien."

  • I can't believe you have never herd of Steve Morse.

  • theme is good, but picking...total disaster! OK for Guthri, but other...If you preffer less known gitarists,OK,but where is Ilan Ashkenazi or Kai Yakamashii??? For me,best tone have Jason Becker and early Yngwie

  • where is slash

  • Shawn lane should be number 1:)

  • @axelstall

haha i posted the same thing a while back, but i changed my mind. shawn lane has the best distortion tone in my mind, but his clean tone isn't that amazing. eric johnson has phenomenal clean and distortion tone.

  • We need Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix...

  • carl verheyen, neil zaza, robben ford? is this a joke? where are paul gilbert, steve vai, jason becker, marty friedman...??

  • 10.slash.

    9.rhandy rhoads.

    8.james hetfield.

    7.kirk hammett.

    6.marty friedman.

    4.chris broderick.

    3.dave mustaine.

    2.bucket head.

    1.micheal batio angelo.

  • @rambo00rock17 Dude u gotta clean up ur ears n stop listening to great amounts of distortion. More gain doesnt mean good tone, MAB soudns like a freakin video game. Then again, i can tell ur beginner at guitar and a metal head by dat list.

  • wow....

  • The only one who was good out of those ten was joe satriani! and where is buckethead, paul gilbert, and slash!

  • THAT ISN'T ANDY TIMMONS,THIS IS REB BEACH!!!! (AT No 3)

  • jeff beck should be number one, then eric johnson, then david gilmour

  • heard of joe satriani but the rest are unheard of to me joe shudav cum top thumbs up if you agree....=]

  • @UKMarines if youve never heard of srv (stevie ray vaughn)or eric johnson... i feel sorry for you. check out srv doing Pride and Joy, or Couldnt Stand the Weather. check out eric johnson doing "Cliffs of Dover"

  • @1JAT1 ive heard of bout 3 but i dont now who the others are and ive heard of srv and eric johnson cuz they're on guitar hero 3

  • David Gilmore and SRV .

    Enough said.

  • dude i really think that you should have put Synyster Gates in there man

  • joe satriani should be number 1

  • Guthrie grovan sounds like pimped out elivator music ;D

  • Just the fact alone that EVH isn't on this list boggles me. His tone on VH1 is utter perfection.

  • Mr.David Gilmour has and will always have the best TONE ever!

  • forget it man... you cannot do this without brian may on the list... he's one of the best tone genius since 1971

  • Shawn Lane has by far the best technique overall, and his tone is almost as good as Eric Johnson. I don't know why you put him at #9 since his tone is pretty similar to Johnson who you put at #1 (where I agree he belongs).

  • @scarter180 Technical wise the best ive ever seen is Rusty cooley((:

(I know it has nothing to do with the list but Whateve)

  • @MrThatswhatshesaid Rusty himself would disagree with that though. If you watch the "Shawn Lane tribute" video, Rusty basically shows that.

  • By the way, bollocks. This is just a guy that posts his favorites as a list. Pointless, we all could do that...

  • wtfs voodoo child on steve ray vaughan maybe jimmy hendrix

  • @MyGuitarSkills He's made a covaer of the song

    Still, where's Hendrix?!

  • @MyGuitarSkills i only know a JIMI hendrix, sorry but i can't stand people write jimmy instead of jimi

  • @ltmittens his real name is james marshall hendrix. jimmy is a nickname for james also, hendrix just chose jimi to stand out. it doesnt make a difference. i personally call him jimi, and so do most people, but some people call him jimmy which is fine

  • Some of these guys are bogus... where's Vai? Lynch?

  • A pretty fun list, for what it is. Still...Gilberts raw, insanely clear tone still takes it to a new level for me.

  • The best is Eric Mantel!!!!!!

  • Gary Moore?

  • hmm... maybe a more appropriate title would be top 10 electric guitarists. I mean if were talking about greatest guitarists of all time then you really have to include some of the acoustic and classical masters.

  • ...I havn't even heard of some of these dudes, this was pretty cool.

  • Where's John Petrucci?

  • lol

  • richy sambora, jimmy page, eric clapton, slash, vinnie vincent, ace freyley and eddy van halen are the best. i don't think that there are better guitarists

  • @Thinkingjelle -_-

  • My favourite is David Guilmour! Best Tone ever!

  • im not surprised to see eric johnson at number 1. he is my number 2. my number 1 is shawn lane. R.I.P. shawn lane and stevie ray vaughn.

  • motherfuking idiots u put joe satriani in no4 while satch should be at no 1

  • It´s a shame Uli Roth and Jeff Beck isn´t on the list.

I really love Steve Morse´s tone as well.

Uli Roth is the king of tone and vibrato in my book. Just a strat or skyguitar through a marshall amp and he sounds amazing no effects needed.

  • My personal fav list: 1. George Lynch 2. Warren DeMartini 3. Ywingie Malmsteen 4. Eddie Van Halen 5. Steve Vai 6. Andy Timmons 7. Akio Shimizu 8. Vinnie Moore 9. Michael Schenker 10. Gary Moore Whos' are your favorite tones guys?
  • Where's Yngwie Malmsteen....

  • john mayer??? david gilmour???

  • Where's David Gilmour????

  • david gilmour is the guitarist from pink floyd. check out comfortably numb the last solo got in to the top 10.

  • @DrumGuitarist1379 He's in the house making the dinner

  • Very good list. A few I disagree with being "Top 10", but it's all subjective, so I can't complain.

  • Very good compilation & well thought out.

  • David Gilmore???!? he has the best tone ever and where the hell is john mayer his clean tone is so good

  • @gemmymaster john mayer? LMFAO

  • @BMXarevalo Um yeh he has like one of the best tones ever he sounds incredible.

  • eric johnson and eric mantel sound pretty similar

  • first of all these guys should not be in top 10 million!!!! And second of all, where the hell is Angus Young!!!

  • angus young?sry but i really think vitalsignsguitar did a great job picking the top ten players with the best tone!angus young isnt even very good!

  • J Satch has great tone but you chose such a bad example of it haha

  • Joe Satrani Rocks!!

  • emppu vuorinen .........the best

  • Steve Quimette?

  • Allan Holdsworth Jeff Beck

    Scott Henderson and

Edward Van Halen(78-84)have the best tone PERIOD!

  • who the hell are these guys?

  • LOL....Are You Serious??

  • @ZoeHar35 never heard of SRV what the fucks wrong with you and joe satriani your fucking nuts man

  • @ZoeHar35 it's his opinion... But Guthrie Govan is sick! My favourite guitarist :) And of course SRV

  • thats actually a reb beach song not andy timmons its called black magic

  • Peter Green, BB king, angus young, pete townshend etc.

  • is there a clip list anywhere? i would love to find these songs

  • My favorites are Jimmy Page, Pat Metheny and Jimi Hendrix... And there's many like Al Di Meola, Wes Montgomery and Ritchie Blackmore and etc... But everyone has their taste!

  • well the only one on the list and he should be # 1 because he is the greatest of of all time is Stevie Ray Vaughan., the other guitar players on this list are all talented but not deserving to be in or on anyone's top 10.

  • Don't deserve to be in anybody's top 10... you're a dick!

  • i tend to find the more people are focused on tone, the less skilled they usually are at actually playing guitar.

  • tell that to andy timmons and john petrucci. :|

  • too bad only male guitarists know or care about andy timmons and john petrucci is. i've never even heard of one non musician owning any of their records. a good guitarist writes music to serve a song and a greater purpose as a band, not to just show off technical skill so they can have a sausagefest fanbase of male guitarists.

  • Like Pat Metheny for songs like As It Is, Minuano, Third Wind... Great skill, great writer, amazing music! Also he's kinda showing off his skills on Into The Dream, but still it's an amazing song... Also many acoustic songs, that are just so shocking like A Map Of The World, Don't Know Why, Beyond The Missouri Sky.... He's amazing, but it depends if you like Jazz Fusion music.... And in live versions, yes he can easily improvise amazingly. Because he knows how to play...

  • too bad that isnt even what were talking about. Were talking about tone, and there is no question that timmons and petrucci have amazing tone.

on your note: duh about andy timmons, because his music is all instrumental. of course no mainstream listener would listen to it. its about the guitar.

and i know MANY people who love dream theater who are not musicians, and if they arent they usually want to become one to make the genius that is DT.

  • Like you know what 'skill' is...

  • i know that skill is more important than tone. is that good enough?

  • depends about the guitar player... They could prefer skill or tone, like for example The Edge, guitarist of U2, he preferred the different tones, different sounds that his guitar make. You can't say that this is the rule and everyone has to follow it, it doesn't mean a player is bad at skill when good at tone, or vice-versa... But still guitarists are allowed to choose between whatever they prefer as a guitar player, it shows what is more important to the guitarist... So, yeah! :P long speech...

  • where is Sungha Jung, the 13 years old guitar prodigy kid !!!!

  • kirk hammett has awful,"hey i need to stomp on my wah wah"tome. chris broderick has great tone. you are also missing michaell lee firkins, man has greeat clean, yet shredable tone

  • my picks in no order are

    slash

    hendrix

    eric johnson

    santana

    tom morello

  • your stupid beaner you got all of those guitarist from guitar hero

  • id replace slash with kirk hammett

  • Great group of guitarists... but I think tone is even more subjective than technique! Eric Johnson met Shawn when he was very young (12-14) and looked out for him like a big brother... I believe he admitted to picking up on more things than he shared. imo Shawn is King of Everything!!!Good to see Guthrie and Timmons... no Holdsworth? and if it's just tone... I guess Santana too;)

  • Where is Uli Jon Roth, the king of tone!

and Jeff Beck, the second best

  • about the tone.. no doubt. eric johnson, about best player.. its between gutrie and eric. i would say eric is more technically perfect.

  • a pretty good list, but playing wise Guthrie takes all. Eric Johnson definitely takes best tone
