This is a time when Europe is in the dark ages. Muslims made great progress in technology and medicine. Asians were conquering the world. This is a time when Europe is in the dark ages. Muslims made great progress in technology and medicine. Asians were conquering the world. Whites (English, German, French,etc.) didn't become civilized until the 17th century or so. Italians were the only race with a continuous civilized history but they're not really white (like albinos from Sweden and Norway).

that's not a big surprise. a lot of civilizations are described by other civilizations as savages because a) not as technologically advanced and b) lack of understanding of each other. take for example the famous three native groups of the americas like the mayans, aztecs, and incas. amazing understanding of astronomy and nature, but were misunderstood by european explorers and considered savages.

When Gheghis Khan went to Afghanistan he inquired about Islam from an Imam and the Imam told him that they believe in 1 almighty God. Temujin accepted it as the truth. All the Khans eventually accepted Islam, most of them 4 or 5 generations after Temujin. Look up the Khazahns, Timurids, and Mughals.

@munguntulga I didn't try to diminish their accomplishments. Most of the known world? You are kiding. Most historians agree that mongols didnt invade western Europe because they couldnt. Once you enter Germany it's big forests (bad for hit and run tactic), mountains (bad for horses), and wet weather (bad for bows). They just wanted to secure their Russian border. While they had great initial successes, by 1260 each time they tried to later invade more to the west they were crushed.

Mongols took over all of China which was the most advanced and fortified nation back then. They were never crushed, every battle we were outnumered and won, only in luthviena we lost, even then the european forces lost much more men than us. Mongols were more than hit and run tactic lol.

As for Europe, take for exemple Hungary, They had great initial success but after that by 1280 each invasion was crushed. The mamluks beated them, as many others... You say most of the known world? I say none of the most rich or powerfull states. Egypt, Western Europe, Byzance... And southern Japan, huh?
