record stores symbolize how music is meant to be more than a file for a ringtone or a way to make a buck; music is an intimate relationship between the listener and the artist. record stores keep this flame burning by allowing music buffs to "get down and dirty" with the music by buying the physical item, something you can touch, and hang with other music fans that share the same ideals in music buying. keep record stores alive!!!
Rasputin, is by far the best record store in California{Mountain View}. Hell, the bay area has the best record stores in California. I love coming to this store. It seems the folks down here in so cal get nothing, just an Amoeba, L.A. deserves better. Thank u bay area for keeping shit dope, real, and dirt cheap!
i remember being there waiting six hours in line to meet metallica which was pretty dope. though i won't lie, there were A LOT of posers and douchebags at this event...not to mention the majority of ppl only got 2-3 mins to meet, greet and sign
everybody complaining about metallica and the napster thing well you freaking bust your ass to write music and have everybody just steel it like its nothing they had every right to be annoyed and mad i woulde be too i just thought i would put that out there
im 16 and man do i miss Tower Records, fuck digital downloading, its easy, but cmon, who doesnt love physically seeing all those awesome cds ad records all lined up! plus as the mighty Het and Kirk said, it was a place to meet up people with like minded interests! METAL UP YOUR ASS!
There was a pretty cool record shop in Durango that I use to go to when I lived there. Cheapo Records in Minneapolis/St Paul and Zia's in Las Vegas are my favorites. I use to love Tower Records in NYC and Philly, but they went out of business.
With all due respect to the record store it sucks that alot of record store are going down in bussiness I use to work at a wherehouse yeah member those. Its gone now youll find an FYE in the mall maybe. Record store where cool back in the days but these days its seem much easier to just downloaded them through Limewire or Napster its cheaper and I remember that kids use to jack CD from the record store too. So to see that was cool for me cause I would chase those bastards to get my stuff back.
they're absolutely right. more people should spend a little more time in an old-fashioned record store like that, or even in an f.y.e. or best buy to buy some cds.
@mitalca35 only problem with the second half of your post is that if its sold in best buy or fye, unless you are a mega star like rhianna or something you are literally not going to see a single penny of that money. not one cent.
Sucks now though that that particular store that Metallica visited is now closing.
